I would recommend this copier to all. It's the little brother to another Canon I own but performs equally well. Canon seems to make quality their watchword.

The main attraction to this copier is the net price considering the product abilities. The Canon D340 copier replaced a Canon PC920, which did a yeoman job througout its life. The new copier adds an auto-feed feature which is very handy, and works well. Other than that, the scanning area is miniscule compared to the PC920, making copying from a book next to impossible. The D340 weighs about one half of the PC920, which may reflect the quality and longevity of the new model. The main problem is that with the $[...] Rebate that was offered, it was a good deal. The terms and conditions were a little stringent, and were carefully carried out, and to no avail. Although we documented the rebate terms, have photocopies of everything sent, Canon appears to have had no intention of sending the rebate. We received a form letter saying the rebate was not honored because "UPC lable is missing". This is not true, as we have photo copies of the original cut from the carton. We intend to ... Read more

When I first got this machine, I was ready to give it 5 stars. It set up easily and made fast, great quality copies. I noticed a couple of glitches but thought them minor. But after a few days I have discovered shortcomings of the unit, hence the 4-stars. I was considering 3 but figure that's too low since it does basic things well. It is a multi-purpose machine, but not all-purpose. Pros: * Excellent quality printing and copies * Scan-once-print-many I think describes how the machine copies - scans a document once and prints as many copies as you order. Good feature! * Fast (compared to my old HP LJ5P) * Simple toner cart loading * Allows straight-through printing for heavy stock you don't want to curl * Fairly easy manual paper feed, but with a shut-down quirk (see below) * Standby mode nice to save energy * Good price after rebate Cons: * It's not a computer-linked scanner as I thought. Looks like one, isn't. * Paper handling is less than stellar. Paper cartridge fa... Read more

I bought one of these for our high school library about 8 months ago and have been very pleased. We needed one for student use and occasional library/teacher use. (If anybody needs more than 25 copies at a time, they are told to go to the high school office or teacher workroom.) I think we've only printed about 2,000 copies so far, but have had no problems. On the + side, it's quiet, I've been able to find relatively good deals on toner, and it doesn't take up too much room. (I suspect anything much smaller would've been too flimsy for kid use.) On the -, it's not terribly fast, and doesn't do double-sided copies. (We either send those to another copier in the building, or feed them back through the machine and copy on the back side of the paper.) Considering the reliability and the price, I would definitely purchase the Canon D340 again.
