in reference to the canadian armed forces, we have crap equipment compared to the states or the british and what we do with that equipment is unheard of! our forces are having a major issue with keeping people in because people do not want to do more with less. but the JTF2 is striving and they are going on a massive recruitment binge, and i know people who have tried and these individuals are really fit but do not make it past day 3 of initial indoc.

In this day and age of increased world tension there has been an infusion of military spending in Canada.  Word has it that the JTF2 way be expanded and get another soldier, becoming the JTF3.  When Icelanders invade Gimli, or beavers damn the national highway cutting the country in half, or Saskatchewan high school kids go on a road trip using purple gas from dad's farm, the JTF2 are there.

My dad served with them for 4 years and I won't know anything about what he did for about 40 years. I've met pathfinder guys and JTF2 guys and they are not people i would ever want to cross with. Their training is based off of the elite SAS and are second only to them. Most secret and very very well trained. Only 1 has ever been killed and it was a rapelling trainng accident. I hope to one day maybe join this elite force. Cheers.

i agree jtf-2 given its short history is doing tremendously well from what i know, i would say give them 10 years and probably be the best sf unit in the world bar none.

These guys are crazy. They are direct descendents of the legendary SAS, and they're Canadian, nuff said. People tend to underestimate us Canucks, but history has demonstrated our natural knack for fighting when we need to. All these other countries love to hype up their special forces and talk about how great they are, but not us. We have a small army and we can't afford to screw around. We just do our job, and train to be the best. JTF2 are our finest warriors with talents and training, that, quite frankly, scare the hell out of me. You don't mess with these guys, I wouldn't even try if I knew they were coming after me. Deeds, not words baby!

Canada's JTF2 is a secretive and highly elite force that was based off of and initially trained by the British SAS. Most people don't even know who or what they are. As a member of the CF, I have a tremendous amount of respect for JTF2. I also believe that despite the unit's relatively young age, they are far superior to many other SF units and second only to the SAS.

Most people don't even know what JTF2 is. There is no reason why it deserves to have a rating of 2.5 when they are some of, if not THE greatest fighting force on earth. UPDATE: I see JTF2 has climbed back up the list, which I think is more appropriate.

Great special force unit, there structure and selection like the sas. How the sas have more experiance, so that why they are better.

Canada should be proud of thier ability to train specail forces who are only second to those who had pioneered the idea, the SAS. It should cause great pride through all Canadians to see that only SAS is better considering, that they are on of the newest specail forces in the world.

Canadians should be proud not only of jtf2 but of its CF personnel in general. Canada may not have the best kit...but the training and professionalism of its force is second to none.

I have a friend who's brother has actually been asked to go to the training. He declined and explained to my friend the reason behind it is he knows he is not good enough. This is the guy who made the longest sniper shot in recorded history in Afghanistan. SO DO THE MATH! They are the most intense set of individuals known to man! Keep rocking boys!

Canadians are like Americans - but with common sense, a sense of humour and they seem to know what they are talking about and doing as well!! Keep up the good work guys!

If you asked a serving yank who the JTF2 was they would be puzzled for hours. If you brought it up in a normal civilian conversation in Canada no one would understand you. Not only is the JTF2 the 2nd best Special Forces operating unit in the world, they are nearly the youngest. For all those who are integrated in the Special Forces world know their capabilities and know that they are a near replication of the British SAS. Which I believe are the best in the world. It is only this way because the SAS are the pioneers, however, eventually the student will surpass the teacher and the JTF2 will be the most elite force known to man. (member of 3RCR)

JTF2 is quite possibly the best unit in the world they are definitely on par with the sas and delta force. The Canadian government is extremely secretive about the unit and its capabilities. The unit proved its amazing ability in afghanistan and will again.

As a CF member, I highly respect JTF2. Most wouldn't even THINK about joining such elite force.
