Sun Nov 15 2009Shopping for wedding invitations should be a positive experience. That is not what happened when I went to the Buttercup. I went upstairs to their invitation showroom and waited 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge me. There were 5 or 6 older ladies sitting around drinking tea and gossiping. Finally one of them called from the other side of the room, "Did you want something?" I responded, "Yes, wedding invitations." She pointed to the wall. She never got up and they continued to gossip. Obviously they had poor upbringing to be that rude.

Wed Jan 28 2009I had the best experience at the Buttercup. The staff was so helpful and the graphic designers came up with a beautiful custom Save the Date for me. There is so much to choose from and I was excited to know that custom designs are available! I will definitely be shopping there again!

Sun Dec 07 2008I was referred here from "Paper Twists" because they didn't have what I needed. Both places were great. We found loads of paper on sale and Shannon was very helpful, as was another woman. They were super tolerant of our annoyance with one another and were helpful! I don't know about their printing, as I just got paper.

Tue Apr 15 2008I went into the Buttercup to look for invitations, menu cards, programs, etc for my wedding. I sat down for a full 10 minutes before I was greeted, while the workers lounged around. I actually got up and got a binder myself. As I started to look through it, a worker came up and said she was going to need it in a minute. EXCUSE ME! I was the only customer in the store!!!!!!!!!! Finally, someone said hi and asked what I was looking for. I told her. She said "I would really want Vera Wang" and took my binder away and shoved the Vera Wang one in front of me. I didn't want Vera Wang - it's not the price - I just don't like her designs! After telling this to the woman over and over I became exasperated. Finally, I found one I liked and went up to the counter to ask a question. A worker, who was on a PERSONAL PHONE CALL behind the counter, actually held her finger up in my face and continued on with her conversation!!!!!!!! My invitation/printed product budget was about $2,000. Guess how muc... Read more

Sun Sep 03 2006I have ordered invitations from the Buttercup several times. Not anymore! I attempted to order shower invitations recently and had to proof the final product multiple times. In the end, they still weren't right. As a working woman, I don't have time to visit the Buttercup fifty times to make sure everything is centered and the font is consistent. Not to mention grammar! These are not difficult concepts. For the prices you pay and the way you are treated, it is better to take your business elsewhere.

Tue Jul 18 2006While the Buttercup had a fantastic inventory, the quality of work and the level of customer service was well below average in my opinion. I ordered invitations and directional cards from the Buttercup and I could have not been more unhappy with the result and the process. I created the wording for the invites and cards and gave that to them when placing my order. This could not have been easier, but for some reason, it took three separate trips to the store to proof and re-proof the work. The first proof had a blatant spelling error and the second was not even centered. I was frustrated that the store actually called me in to proof work that was obviously incomplete. Each time, the staff could not have been ruder. I recommend skipping this store. There are a lot more places in Charlotte with more competent people and better prices.

Mon Mar 13 2006I went to The Buttercup recently to look for save-the-dates for my wedding and was honsetly angry when I left. The staff completely ignored me for at least 5 minutes at first (as if I was Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman). I finally hounded an associate to help me, but she was clearly annoyed that I, a customer, would want her help. She simply gave me 1 binder to look through and then walked away. When I tracked her down again, she pointed out 2 cards that were exactly the opposite of what I told her I was looking for and then she disappeared again. I left and will never go back.
