Fri Oct 29 2010I don't drink the muck, and entirely for political reasons. Its not the case anymore, but there was a time when Bushmills was distilled in the north, by Prot English loving bastards, while Jameson's was distilled in Dublin by good Catholic Republicans. Now, they're owned and operated by the same greedheads, but nonetheless I can't bring myself to put my lip over a glass of this swill made by descendants of Oliver Cromwells syphilitic byblow... Not that I hold a grudge or anything....

Wed Sep 22 2010Now before I go into my rant about how divine this stuff is let me say I had the 16 year variety. That being said before this wonderful nectar had passed my lips I never before had a whiskey without chasing the shot. That was not the case with the 16 yo Bushmills. I actually followed the shot with....another shot! I mean Damn this stuff is smooth! The bottle belonged to a friend of myself who received it as a gift from his father. Had I known this particular variety goes for $80.00 a bottle, I would have indulged myself a little more. I imaging it's slightly less in Ireland....I wonder how the misses feels about moving to the Emerald Isle.

Sun Feb 21 2010This whiskey may be the single most identifiable reason for why the Irish are deemed "alcoholics." This stuff is other-worldly good!!!! Like Guinness, this is not just liquid, it is not just distilled alcoholic perfection, nay, this is sweet nectar of the Celtic Gods of old! The color is rich and golden, evoking images of perfect sunsets of brilliant fire. The pour is smooth and oily, the aroma rich and tinged with honey. The bite, for whiskey, upon first sip is hot, yet not assaulting. The flavor is powerful, but not overpowering, approaching too much, but never reaching it. As the hot mass of distilled wondrousness powers its way to the belly, everything warms, as a good whiskey should do, but even more, the sweetness in the foundation lingers on the tongue, almost caressing it into submission, leaving you with a funny little smirk on your face, uttering under your breath, "God Damn, that's a good whiskey!" The best part is that I can drink this golden beauty by the double-sho... Read more

Tue Sep 29 2009A very fine mild flavored Irish whisky. Great on the rocks with a splash of water. A little spendy for frequent consumption.

Wed Aug 19 2009For the price I'll take Jamesons any day.

Sun Aug 09 2009For the price I give it a 5*. Less complex than Jameson and without as good a finish but much more pleasant to drink and no negative qualities. It all depends on your mood whether you want a Jameson or a Bushmills. Sometimes you just want simple golden deliciousness and thats Bushmills. Sometimes you want more complexity and a heady finish and that is Jameson. Either way for the money both drinks are 5* considering their value for money.

Tue May 12 2009A great whiskey for the money; full creamy body with vanilla and honey notes on the palate. This is what I often go to when looking for a bottle of booze at a liquor store that couldn't taste the difference between a white and dark rum. This is one is a bottle I like to have on hand in my cabinet.

Sun Feb 22 2009For $25 a bottle OK but prefer Black Bush which has more malt.

Fri Jul 11 2008In a top few for smoothness, not like most whiskies for taste, aroma and heavily under rated. would recommend just on price. 21 yr is a favourate in my collection of over 70 single malts -can not wait to try the 400 anniversary special 1608.

Mon Dec 17 2007I occasionally drink a cup of Earl Grey tea with a shot of the black label Bushmills as a hot toddy. This is good in the winter time especially if you feel like your getting that flu bug or rotten cold for which there is no remedy. It is smooth enough to drink neat and a high end restaurant's secret to a great Irish coffee. Very reasonably priced and a should have for your liquor cabinet.

Tue Oct 09 2007Bushmills 16 Year Single Malt in the reddish label. Around $48-68 per bottle. This stuff is amazing. None better that I've consumed. It spends time in three types of oak casks, then American Bourbon casks, then sherry casks, then port pipes. My wife and I buy one bottle of good Whiskey, bourbon, scotch every year at Christmas, and this is by far the best. We've had Gentleman Jack, JW Black, Green, Blue, and Gold Label (the Gold is good if you like a rich peat flavor; Blue not worth $150), and many, many different single malts. The Bushmills 16 year is THE BEST OVER 20 years of Christmasses. McClellan Cask Strength is a close third behind Bush 16 and JW Gold. Merry Christmas. (The reason we like the cask strength is it does not lose its flavor in a handful of ice.)

Tue Sep 18 2007very solid altough not as good as regular Jameson which has more tasty, balanced flavor. I prefer Irish whiskies in general over Scotch anyday - they are distillied 3 times (compared to 2 times in Scotland) which gives them truly unique and much much smoother taste. There are some pretty good irish whiskies from smaller distilleries but Jameson ranks on top; I even prefer it over Bushmills Black. If you enjoy smooth tastes like these, try also bourbon style Gentleman's Jack - for a sweet and mellow taste.

Tue Dec 19 2006My favorite Irish. Unique taste that I like. No other Irish tastes like it.

Sat Aug 26 2006The original is great, much better, smoother and with greater flavour than the more expensive Black Bush. I've done the factory tour, tasted the various selections and the original is up there with the best as far as I'm concerned. I think I marginally prefer Jameson whisky, though sometimes I sway in favour of Bushmills. It's a close run thing. I must point out that the 12 year-old single malt Distillery Reserve is exquisite.

Wed Feb 08 2006Five stars for Black Bush; none for the white label version. THERE ARE TWO SORTS OF BUSHMILLS WHISKEY! One - Black Bush - is very good indeed. Black Bush is one of the two best Irish whiskies you can easily find in America - the other being Powers. The other Bushmills comes with a white label that merely says "Old Bushmills". It should be used only for cooking and cleaning shoe leather. Old Bushmills, which perplexingly is both widespread and popular in America, is so nasty that I haven't drunk any in years. Who knows? Maybe it's improved lately, but I'm not about to waste 30 bucks a bottle to find out. So, spring for the good stuff, or stick to Powers.

Wed Nov 24 2004Jameson is ten times better with more aroma and body compared to bushmills. Give it try.

Fri Nov 19 2004An outstanding sipping whiskey, especially for someone who usually doesn't drink it straight. Smooth & mellow without a harsh afterbite or excessive burn on the way down. For a special treat, sip it while smoking a good cigar...an outstanding combination that'll make you feel like a million bucks!

Sat Jun 12 2004Even though it is a blend, it is a good sipping whiskey for the price.

Fri Nov 28 2003Pretty good Irish, not as good as Jameson though. Tastes bad the next morning when the sun is in your eyes and someone is drumming on your head.

Mon Jan 15 2001Smooth and tasty, Bushmill's is by far the best whiskey. It goes down like honey and leaves you feeling just as sweet.

Tue Dec 26 2000Very nice Whiskey. While I was living abroad I became friends with this British guy who used to always go on about how great Bushmills Whiskey was but unfortunately where we were it was unavailable. Well when I got back to the states I tried it and I gotta say he was right, very smooth, to the point where you could drink it on the rocks with no water to dilute it and it would still go down nice an easy. There are a couple of different brands the black and the white, and of the two I would have to say that the white was actually the nicer of the two and the less expensive as well!

Mon Feb 07 2000There are two Bushmill's Bushmills White and Bushmills Black. I cant remember which one is the best however its the expensive one. Im not a Whiskey drinker however the expensive one went down fine. Worth spending that few quid more. It can boast to be the oldest working distillery in the world, so they know how to make good whiskey.
