My initial reactions to this product are more due to my lack of familiarity with induction cooking than to any real issues with the cooktop itself. The only "real" issue I've got is that the main cooking area is apparently fastened to the rest of the frame with a glue, and on my unit the top wasn't squared with the frame before the glue set, leaving it slightly askew (about 1.5 degrees left). But it doesn't have any impact of the functionality of the unit, which so far is just as advertised.

I love it I purchased because I am tired of taking my stove top apart every time something boils over(which is every time)I keep it in the patio and I use it about every day.The only problem I had was finding a tea kettle compatible .I already owned All-Clad cookware.

This unit works as described with some cookware, but not all that passes the magnet test. All-Clad cookware works only marginally. Remember its inner core is designed to conduct heat, not magnetic current. The box on this cooktop states it doesn't work with copper, aluminum or 18/10 stainless steel. Guess what's inside All-Clad--and other multiple layer high-end cookware? So even though the outer layer passes the magnet test, the inner layers don't conduct the heat making heating slow (much faster on a gas or electric range). I have a Farberware pan that works well with the cooktop and will have to buy at least one other to take advantage of its features, but I'm certainly not going to replace my All-Clad. The cooktop does stay cool, except where the pan actually sits, it is easy to clean, I haven't found the fan noise at all bothersome and although I don't 'get' the power settings, it does a good job of reaching and maintaining the temperature you set, and I like that it turns ... Don't loose your money buying this cooker. Mine worked fine but after 10 month of intermittent use, it broke down. I contacted Amazon. They send me to Unbeatable Sale. This company never answered my complain. I called Burton (the manufacturer), they send me to Amazon. I am now two month in this finger pointing game without any help. I would recommend not to buy this item. If you want it, go to your local store that you can trust and gives you a written guaranty.

You have to use the Max Burton Induction Cooktop to fully appreciate the induction cooking experience. At your command are the power and instant response of an 11500 BTU gas burner without a natural gas line or a butane cylinder in sight. You're cooking with electricity, but unlike a hotplate, an induction cooktop doesn't emit a single degree of thermal energy. Switch it on without a pan in place and it just shuts itself off. Center a pot of water on the circles, crank the power up to the highest setting, and in minutes, the water's boiling like there's no tomorrow. Amazingly, you can rest your hand an eighth of an inch from the pan and the cooking surface is barely warm. At a half-inch, it's downright cool to the touch. In fact, about the only heat escaping into the room is from the steam itself. The cooking surface is producing NO heat of its own! Don't believe me? Take the pot away, drop a paper napkin on the cooking surface and . . . nothing. No fireball, no billows ... Read more
