Fri Dec 12 2008This sewing machine is very easy to thread and to use. It is lightweight so I can grab it with one hand and move it around. My husband and I have enjoyed using this machine. He has a problem buying pants the right length and took over the machine for a week to hem several pairs - even his heavy jeans. I have been sewing purse accessories to sell at local festivals. After many hours of use, I am pleased to say that I have not had any problems with the machine. It does get a little noisey when I sew over thick areas with several layers of fabric, but otherwise handles it well and does not drop a stitch or jam up. While I have not had time to play with the decorative stitches much, I did use a couple of them and found it very easy to switch from one to another. It will take some practice to get the hang of adjusting the stitch length and width to get the effect that I want. This machine is a very good buy for the average person who wants to do some basic mending and a lit... Read more

Sun Nov 02 2008I just got this machine about a week ago, and am asolutely thrilled with it! I needed to sew some trimmings on a coat for my Halloween costume. The jacket is a vintage London Fog coat made of a heavy canvas material. This machine had NO problem sewing through the thick layers. What impressed me the most is i'd previously been using my mother in law's $800 sewing machine, and after constant adjustment and realignment I still broke 3 needles and had a problem with my backstitching. This machine handled the problem beautifully, and it's only a fraction of the price! A few things I might note: The pink is a a little darker than that in the picture. This did not bother me since it's still pink, which is what attracted me in the first place. I gave it four out of five stars (wish I could give it 4 1/2!) because the machine is so lightweight, a couple of times it wanted to move around while I was readjusting my fabric. This wasn't an issue with the actual sewing and after using ... Read more

Fri Sep 26 2008Actually it is the first time I use a sewing machine. Before I knew nothing about sewing. And Brother is one of the brands that people usually recommend. The structure is simple to understand and the manual is easy to follow. I just spend half an hour to start and made a pretty futon cover. If you are new to sewing, this is really a good choice to begin.
