Boston Marathon bomb attack

As awful as it is, I have a feeling that it won't make the threshold of "Top 10 Horrific News Stories of 2013" by the time the 24 hour news networks are doing their 'Year in Review Gala Broadcasts' in December.

Scores high as a newsworthy event that will ripple through the rest of the year. Still, worst terrorists ever. . . Whoever they are, they did it in a 1. Place with security cameras everywhere 2. Targeted an event with people who are generally healthy, spry, and move well 3. Plenty of medical facilities, water, and people-who-know-how-to-handle emergencies close by Fatalities are (thus far) low but amputations are high. Hopefully, the numbers will stay the same in the next 24 hours. Terrible event. Wait for the evidence and data before jumping to conclusions. Still, if I had to put money on it - this looks superficially like more domestic stupidity than external for all the stupid reasons above.

I have speculated quietly for some time that events like these might become targets of nasty excuses for human beings. Sad. UPDATE: Patton Oswalt said something about this mess that I found encouraging... Boston. Fucking horrible. I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity." But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths. But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. Yet another senseless act of violence, which is becoming increasingly common these days. The timing of the explosion is the sickest part: 4:09 into the race, a time when a majority of runners are near the finish line. Let's see how this plays out in the coming days, and whether the perps are identified. Wow. This one is just sickening. I'm just seeing the coverage now. It's just amazing that all these acts of violence happen on quite the regular basis. I hope Boston can recover soon from this.

I'll save off reviewing this until some actual facts come in. Still, all things considered, I am very glad that fatalities are as low as they are.

Meh. Three dead, including an 8 year old boy. Sad. But to put it in perspective: about 27 people die every day in America from automobile accidents. Half of these deaths are alcohol related. Of course, this doesn't give the TV "News" networks anything to do like a high-profile bomb blast, so the media-driven public doesn't care. My only question: which arab nation (one that is full of petroleum) are we going to invade? Please let it be a Saudi national who is responsible...
