Mon Dec 13 2010Any machine that is so prone to fouling plugs is nothing but junk. To get to plug to change it is a nightmare and would love to see a factory rep do this in freezing wet trail conditions. Even some of the folks who rate it as great tell about speedo and other problems. Do yourself a favor and look into somthing like a honda. Hate this machine

Sat May 29 2010I bought a 2004 Bombardier Outlander Rotax 330 in May of 2004 I have had nothing but problems with it. We bought the ATV from a dealership in Missouri - I had it to the dealership 8 yes I said 8 times within one year. It still doesn't run right, I had the extended warranty on the bike & they told me they had fixed it EACH AND EVERYTIME I TOOK IT BACK!!!!! It acts as if it isn't getting enough fuel, well extended warranty has run out, and I will be damned if I pay them to fix something that didn't really work to begin with. We, my husband & I have tore into the bike ourselves, when we took the oil filter out it was horribly black the oil we drained was dirty, dirty black & we have some particles floating in our gas tank, the dealership told us that the gas we were using was dirty and clogging the screen inside the tank they said they replaced the screen but it is still doing the same thing - in six years time we haven't even been able to ride this bike without having to be towed back hom... Mon Sep 21 2009Simply the best, better than all the rest! Bought a 2005 outlander 400 in the fall of 2005. The only thing I've had to do is break pads (normal mtce) and add the flare kit (if that's what they're called) to the outside fenders to help keep mud spray off myself. I run superswampers front and back. Most of my riding is in the heavy bush over logs thru bogs and all sorts of muck. The only time I have any problems is when that dumb rider screws up. I would buy another one in a heart beat. My buddies all ride 500/600 and 800. I go where they go and back again and always in time for supper. Of course I ride in the GREAT WHITE NORTH of CANADA and being a crazy canuk probably don't know from nothing and on top of that I'm an old fart at 63 and probably my mind is slipping. However I'm happy in my senility. By the way I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada and we ride about 300 miles north of here. I think that qualifies for rough terrain. Still crazy after all these years Crazy Canuk

Sun Nov 02 2008We love our 2005 Outlander 400! This week something strange has occurred. When in motion, the odometer readout says FAIL. When stopped, the mileage shows. We haven't found anything about this in the manual, and a nearby service shop said they had not seen this before. Does anyone know what is going on with our ATV? S and B in NC

Wed Aug 06 2008Outlander Max has a problem with the voltage regulator and battery. My low mileage Max failed right after the warranty period and BRP wouldn't cover the repair. Nothing like a twenty mile walk out of the bush. Never buy an outlander unless you like to hike.

Wed Jul 02 2008This is a great 2up machine. We tried out Polaris and didnt like the way it sat... Suspension that is adjustable gives a good ride. Only complaint is a whine at around 30 and I guess it is the same on all of them.. I have run this machine double from sea level and up to 9500 feet and the 400 has plenty of power.

Tue Jan 08 2008My 04 Outlander XT has less than 500 miles on it. I bought it used, but in new condition with only 260 miles on it. It gives a great cushiony ride, but that's it for the plus side. On the bad side, in less than a year I have had to replace a recall part, and burned up two batteries because the voltage regulator went out on me. This is a known problem, but Can-Am won't help because it didn't fail under warranty (but only 400 miles!). They won't even supply the $150 wiring harness they want you to use to modify their design. I will never buy another one, for me, it's Honda from now on.

Fri Oct 27 2006The 400 HO is the premier 400 in the line of ATV's. People can say Canada Junk all they want but obviously never owned one. Mine has 1000 miles on it allready and not a single problem. I turn 26 Mud lite XL's like they are nothing. It may cost more but I have rode about all of em and this one is a keeper.

Wed Jul 05 2006My wife and I have researched the Outlander XT and Max XT and found them all to be great. Havent had a bad comment from actual riders since early 05'. So I just bought one for my wife. 06 max XT. Tell you all about it after some real abuse. DVD rocks. Outlander beats all competion every time. Rock crawling,Sloloms,Raceing,Mudd drags,Sled Pulls, and does it all stock. Max too. Beats them all!!!!!!!!!

Wed Feb 08 2006The three that rated the Bomb poor probably can't even afford one. By the way they are gonna be made in Mexico. Really doesn't matter, engineering is the key andthe Bomb is the BOMB! 400 max will out run any 500 out there. Awsome atv, and I own one!

Thu Dec 30 2004I bought a Outlander max in 2003 and ended up buying myself and my wife a 2005 model outlander max, she used to ride with me untill she drove the max and then she wanted one of her own, they are so comfortable and you feel very safe, the power out of a 400 is un speakable, very very pleased

Wed Dec 22 2004Nothing but GREAT. I own a Moose hollow B&B; in S.E. Idaho, and take guests on tours. the two up is the best. No lack of power, the visa lock system has went through mud and snow with out slowing. And the hold back desending is the very best. my Outlanders have never failed to preform and impress.
