Spectacular recruiter. . .deserves credit for putting FSU (redneck school) on the map. . . . . .but Bowden is as dirty as the day is long. . .and his redneck-esque personal plus his more-than-once-in-trouble-program rubs me the wrong way. Anyone can win dirty - great coaches win within certain rules. And it's obvious he's obsessed with having the all-time record for wins - and it's holding back the development of the team. He's broken a coaching rule he preaches - don't put yourself above the team. How can his players take that mantra seriously from this man?

Fleeing a hurricane, I was once stuck in a Tallahassee hotel before a game with UCLA. The Noles players staying at the hotel were some of the most respectful young men I had encountered. Not the hot-dogging thugs they have been made out to be at times. My view of Mr. Bowden, which had always been that he was very effective but not a nice guy, changed right there. If he can build character like that, he is truly a great coach.

Nothing has to be said when Bobby Bowden is mentioned.

He is SO great. Were it not for nemesis Miami who went to play for NC 3 times they barely beat FSU, and coming up short in the 3 other NC games he played in, Bobby could easily have 5,6 or 7 NC. Then what would the doubters say? Unquestionably, the Bear would have to take a backseat. No coach or combination of coaches has ever been as consistent with 14 straight top 5 finishes. Miami is #2 with 11, then UF with just 4. That shows how tuff it is just to shine in the state, much less the nation. NCAA football is so much more competitive these days then in Bryant's era. If he leaves before Joe Pa, he will have given up his greatest achievement.

Can't help but rate him great. Onery cuss. Has more all-time wins than Paterno--impressive.

Great recruiter with talent near him, but losing it ever so slowly each year now that he is over 70. JoePa and him need to Retire instead of trying to out do each other over the All-Time Win Record, Why, because no one win beat Eddie Robinson's record!

One of the greatest coaches of all time and a great guy. Has been on the hot seat for giving players second chances but he really cares about the player and wants to see them succeed. Does a lot for the community and is a caring man. He built the Florida State program from scrach and has maintained it as on of the most successful over the past couple of decades.

Take this one back to the nursing home. There will be NO EASY WINS here on out. If he had placed FSU in the SEC he would not have a job by now.

I rate him high here, but is he truly still coaching or just a figure head. He has the most wins but got credit for 30 wins at Stamford?

Bobby Bowden is a legend and probably one of the greatest college football coaches ever. No matter how bad or how many times this guy beats your favorite team you have got to love him.

This is pretty simple. The man took a losing program that was facing contraction and turned it into what was just a few years ago bar none the best in the nation. A record 14 consecutive top 5 finishes and 2 national championships. He's also the winningest coach in division 1a college football history....

Another overrated coach. Let's see what happens now that the ACC has some real teams.

He is truly a great man and it shows. I feel Rix is playing on his kindness and clouding Bobby's judgement; therefore, the program suffers. Someone should make Bobby aware how selfish and immature Rix is because there are some very good TEAM players that are playing their hearts out in vain. We can still save the season!

Coach Bobby Bowden is a fantastic coach, mentor and man. His caring ways are seen by everyone. And no you Bowden haters, it's not a show. He is a genuine gentleman in every sense of the word.

Bowden has become a caricature. Once very good, he has slipped badly in recent years and is being exposed by the departure of top assistants like Richt and Amato. It's time for a change. His outlaw program is an embarassment.

The man has a lot of tradition, but if you have both an offensive and defensive coordinator who call the plays you are just a figurehead, not a coach.

Coaching in that weak ACC is enough to get you 8 wins every year. How many NC's has he won? He has never had good control of his players off the field. Over Rated!

We're not ranking saints here. Oops, yes we are. Toughest non-conference schedule over the last 10 years. Wanted in the SEC in the early years and they wouldn't let him, now the SECers bitch about it. Just like them.

Good coach, would have had a better career as snake oil or used care salesman. Southern good ole boy type. Talking with him you feel the need to keep your hand on your wallet. What can you say of a man who takes a players scholarship away because he misses a FG. Good coach, lame excuse for a man

He is not a good football coach. He plays a week scheldule every year and every time he gets a chance to move to a good confence and play some quality opponents in the SEC he chickens out. We saw how bad they were against Miami. Florida will beat them. His 2003 team will lose 2 Florida. He was a good coach when he had Richt though.

A filthy coach who hides behind an shady administration that lets players run rampant. Anyone who has ever been to Tally knows something has to be going on to get anyone to go to school there!

The king of free shoes university and all of his baby bowdens are what is wrong with college sports. The crimonoles have talent every year and sometimes it is even on the field. I would rate him higher as a pure football coach, but all the other crap... it is long past time for him to go.

Bobby Bowden has held it down in the Talliho for several years now. He has been able to seek and mobilize talent for ages. He is a father of the game.

Bobby Bowden has class, but the majority of his players don't seem to. It was painful to see him with his arm around MacPherson after the Wake Forest game, and 2 weeks later he has to kick the kid off the team for stealing checks. I hope he gets it turned around because he has done so much for the game.

Bobby Bowden is the best coach of all time, all those who say he recruits from prisons and says they are all murderers tell me the last time someone from florida state has killed anyone never! someone from miami did though i.e.-Ray Lewis. And another thing, 7 out of 9 ACC teams made it to bowls so its not the easiets too, bowden is just a great coach and FSU is a great team.

Bobby is the best, doest crack under pressure, most wins, good recruits, everybody that denies he's the best is just jealous, and im in nebraska country! FSU is a threat every year, when there are no off field problems, which he does enforce againdt, i.e. (s.minnis, r.moss, c.rix, a.mcpherson) This man won the nat'l championship at the age of 70, Paterno nor Osborne can top that!

Icould make a team of talented convicts look good. Anybody can. This guy can't even touch Paterno. Let the best Penn State team and the best Florida State team play each other and the Penn State team would beat them by 40 or more.

Another smooth job for Bad boy Bowden, I thinks its discusting that florida State is in the BCS. There are 6 other teams that are ranked higher than they are, that should be playing Georgia. Just because the ACC is the worse Football conference and always has been, I feel that its another Bowden sly job. Hell they don't even deserve to be playing at all. GIVE ME a BREAK.. GO DAWGS.... Teach them a lesson.. Ken Ocala
