Thu Nov 19 2009I like to travel, and I like to keep a record of where I've been. After returning from Egypt I decided that the best way to do this was to print my favourite photos in a photo book and to include a journal of what I'd done, and where I'd been. I had a good look around at the options such as Blurb Booksmart, MyPublisher, and iPhoto and eventually I settled on Blurb mostly because of the options that were available as the ability to get it printed in hardback with a dust jacket sounded great! So, over the next year after having found it I took another holiday, this time to Peru and made sure I'd kept an actual diary of what the place was like, etc. and use their software when I got back to arrange the photos and the text how I wanted it. The software itself is available for both Mac and Windows which means it does cover the majority of users (sorry Linux guys!) and is quite quick to install as it needs very little user interaction. Wed Sep 17 2008Spent awhile learning the quirks of the software and printed two small 7x7 books as proofs before I ordered a larger quantity that was to be placed in a store in time for an international conference. The book showed up much darker than the two proofs. As a photographer I felt it wasn't acceptable and I was coming up on a drop dead date. It has been almost thirty hours since my emails (including a please call me!) and I have had no response. .
