Tue May 18 2010Words don't exist....but I'll try. Blue Bell's cookie dough ice cream is heaven in a box, period. As one who NEVER ever writes reviews, but was compelled to after having a bowl, I have granted my rating to be top scale and worth heeding. To be specific about my obsession with this ice cream, my favorite attribute about it would be one's inability to have a bite without a large chunk of soft, yummy cookie dough. To add a few more, the actual cream itself has the sweetest, homemade taste I've ever had and the chocolate bits are creamy and don't feel like plastic that takes forever to dissolve. I've searched my heart on the possibility of this heavenly delight taking an unhealthy place on my personal Beloved Scale....and I've concluded.....God loves me.....and so He created.....Blue Bell's cookie dough ice cream.

Thu Dec 10 2009Just wish it was sold in California. Everyone has different preferences the moolenium crunch was disliked buy everyone we know because of the maltiness. But every other flavor is mind blowing without a doubt the absolute best ice cream on earth. Were so addicted to it that we've emptied our freezer to make room for it and shop several stores a day after work to find the flavors we like even buying dry ice to bring some 250 miles to our homes on weekends. How anyone can bad mouth blue bell is beyond me other then availability in certain states ill gladly pay 30 dollars a half gallon to have it delivered to my house when I no longer work here its that good never tasted anything like it banana split is mind blowing its super addictive thanks blue bell It has me thinking of moving back to south carolina again so it would be more available its that good any one that bad mouths this ice cream is insane and should not be taken seriously except that it isn't sold nationally which pisses me off... Sat Sep 12 2009i LOVE blue im stuffing my face with it now, im not going to put it down till im done with all half a gallon and despite the other people who say it's expensive i think the price is fine, it's called sacrifice!Just Kidding the price is gret four or five bucks for a half GALLON of the stuff vs. the same price of dryers for half the volume(amount) plus dryers and blue bunny and all that stuff are a super shity QUALITY! blue bell is the qualitative ice cream! - the thirteen year old critique.

Sat Aug 29 2009Seems like in recent years the creaminess factor has gone down in their products. 20 years ago the stuff blew you away with the creaminess, it was far, far superior to any ice cream on the market. Now it just seems maybe a little better than the big brands, nothing to go crazy about. However some of the flavors are off the charts delicious Ben and Jerry should take note. Butter pecan is delicious. As is cookies'n'cream. However to my adult taste the best of the bunch is Mint Chocolate Chip. It has subtle real mint flavors not too much just enough to balance the sweetness of the ice cream. And it has sweet but not overly sweet dark chocolate chunks. Its like crack. I can only buy it a few times a year because when I get some I go nuts and pig out on it.

Sat Aug 04 2007Not so good. Sorry Texans. I am from Illinois and we have one of the best ice creams around, Whiteys. Moved to Texas a year ago and I am dissapointed in the ice cream selection. My husband and I are thinking about opening an ice cream business and will not have blue bell. Chocolate is bad. Homemade vanilla ok. I guess it is better than Mc Donalds or Sonic/ DQ. I would rather waste my calories on something else.

Wed Feb 07 2007Blue Bell has a wide range of flavors, some are fun & quite tasty-- choco.chip mint, pralines & cream, Delta Blues (blueberry ice cream with pie crust), pecan pie, cookies & cream, strawberry cheesecake, and more. Lots of nuts, cookie pieces, & TRUE flavor in these listed varities. I've tried Edy's & Schwann's after much suggestion..Bleh!! Blue Bell vanilla is Excellent with apple pie or peach cobbler. Freezer life isn't long, but I've experienced "frostbite" with any ice cream that isn't consumed within 2 weeks. Ice cream will last longer if you cover the ice cream's surface with wax paper before re-lidding it to keep air out-- adds a few more days.

Mon Jan 16 2006My husband and I recently purchased the Peanut Butter and Jelly Bluebell. I think you should take out the peanuts. It is very good but all I get a mouth full of is peanuts and they are very big. I cannot even taste the flavor of the other until I take the peanuts out. Just my opinion but I have always rated your icecream above all others. I brag on Bluebell to others but on this particular icecream I cannot truthfully say that is is good. It is just ok. Thanks for listening.

Sun Nov 27 2005I absolutely love this ice cream! I mean L-O-V-E it!!!!! I lived in Texas until I turned 16. I always got their Homemade Vanilla. When i moved, I tried all sorts of brands of vanilla. I live in St. Louis and Boston by the way. I've had Hood, Breyer's, Dryer's, Edy's, B&Js...and; the list goes on! I found Breyer's vanilla disgusting! It was really hard all it tasted like was hard butter! It is by far the WORST Vanilla Ice Cream Every!!! Everytime I go back to Tx, Blue Bell is always the first thing I look for in the grocery store. If yall ever go to Tx, yall better pick up some Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream!

Mon Sep 19 2005I purchased 2 1/2 gallons of Blue Bell Ice cream at Walgreens on Sept 13,2005. When we tried to eat it it was so grainy we had to throw both cartons away. Price $5.69

Tue Aug 09 2005It's ok; this is the texas ice cream brand that for some reason texans are so damn proud of yet- it has artificial ingredients in it and all. At least splurge and give me some natural vanilla flavoring!! Geez then you pay 5-6 bucks for half gallon. What a rip.

Mon Aug 08 2005My family was in the ice cream parlor business when I was a teen and we tried many brands before picking one. (Alderney, a local New Jersey brand no longer in business because it was so expensive it couldn't compete with cheaper brands.) My Dad could tell you the milk fat content of ice cream by tasting it. I swear that Blue Bell must have the MINIMUM percentage of milk fat possible to qualify as ice cream. It has no richness or creaminess to it at all. Many supermarket brand ice creams are better. It is possibly the WORST branded ice cream sold anywhere in the United States. It does not compare with Hood (New England), Dryer's (California), or Kemp's (Minnesota). My test of an ice cream is to try the vanilla (though I rarely eat plain vanilla) because that way the true taste isn't disguished with mix-ins. If the ice cream is any good, the vanilla should taste like butter pecan -- minus the pecans. It should be very rich and buttery tasting. Blue Bell isn't like that at all. It tastes ... Read more

Wed Jun 15 2005A good ice cream but it's definitely not premium grade, it's grocery store grade. The ice cream lacks the silky creaminess of premium ice cream but it is cheaper.

Fri May 21 2004Blue Bell is sold mainly in the Texas and possibly Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and New Mexico (not sure). Bottom line is that it is the closest to homemade I have ever tasted. Ice cream is my weakness, and I have tried many brands. Honestly, Blue Bell is better than B&J;'s, H-D, Dryer's, and Breyer's. You have to try it to believe me, and whenever you are in Texas take a trip to the grocery store and buy a gallon of Blue Bell (so many flavors, but their staple is Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream). You'll thank me later.
