Sun Jul 26 2009PLEASE PLEASE DO THIS! Then I can make a list on the sites most blocked reviewers.

Sat Jul 25 2009I don't really get this listing, in light of the fact that we already have the ability to remove people from our feed. Is it private messages? To my knowledge, I get no messages from people who choose not to read my reviews. Don't get the point.

Fri Jul 24 2009This has its good points as well as bad. But I think if I had to choose, I would definitely use this feature, because there are some reviews that I don't ever care to see, and it wouldn't bother me in the slightest that I couldn't PM them or they couldn't PM me. That would be the whole purpose of me blocking them.

Thu Jul 23 2009This isn't a concern of mine. Nobody has ever annoyed me to the point that I feel the need to remove myself from contact with them.

Thu Jul 23 2009I think some of the more annoying reviewers that show up are pretty funny but also pretty annoying. But I think the entertainment factor overrides me wanting to block anybody. Christophino and Cornelbox are probably the two best examples. I'm sure there are more though.

Thu Jul 23 2009I wouldn't use it myself, but I can see why it would be useful (although it would no doubt start a whole new set of petty arguments). According to the RIA For Beginners 101 lessons Magellan showed me, you can effectively do this anyway by leaving specific people out of your 'feed'. You'd still have to run into them if you stumbled across one of their lists or one of their reviews on a list you share interest in, but surely people aren't petty enough to make a fuss just because they've seen a single review by the person?

Mon Jul 20 2009It's an armageddon type tool, and I bet it would be used very, very infrequently. It would be nice to know it was at your disposal though, and may even serve as a deterrent to really trollish behavior. On a selfish note, it would give me an easy answer to those people who complain and complain about someone disagreeing with their review.

Mon Jul 20 2009I like the description of the item, in which if you block a user, it also blocks you from them. A very equitable quid pro quo in my opinion.

Mon Jul 20 2009I've never blocked a reviewer, and I tend to review items that are controversial to say the least. I personally don't mind confrontation and relish a good debate, but I guess some people have a lower tolerance for that. I personally don't mind seeing my reviews challenged. My take on it is if you're going to post an opinion online, be prepared to explain yourself. If you can't handle that, then don't bother. More than a few people have left RIA over this kind of stuff.

Mon Jul 20 2009While you can block a user from showing up in your feed, you can't completely block them. For example, I'd really like to block LongTail_Video from showing up anywhere, including when I click on "Everyone". I'd like to be able to click on "Everyone", and then only have new lists selected, so that I could see recently made lists. But when I do this, LongTail_Video's spam lists take up most of the page.

Mon Jul 20 2009It's not something I've ever wished I could do on RIA... true on places like Twitter it is a necessity to ignore spammers, but here it's nice to watch the casual banter that takes place

Mon Jul 20 2009Most sites with a social component give you the ability to control your experience in this way. I don't mind healthy debate, and often encourage it, but everyone has a different tolerance level for conflict and when people get scared off we sometimes lose out as a community. Personally, I'd love the ability to block spammers and douchebags if the need arises.

Mon Jul 20 2009Periodically people sign up, post a review or two, and then complain about getting message after message from aggressive people with a different perspective. Almost always, they stop using the site. That sucks.
