Fri Apr 17 2009But the opening paragraphs maybe aren't the best opening paragraphs ever written. If you get to the bottom of the first page, though, you'll be hooked. Then after that, it moves like lightning. I think it's a really fun book. You'll really get a kick out of it. And visit my site - www.bitterthingsthebook.com - there's a great trailer there that will give you a lifetime's worth of Bitter Things thrills in less than a minute. www.bitterthingsthebook.com

Sun Apr 05 2009From the first page this provocative, sexually charged novel captures your imagination. Each chapter is full of intrigue that entices your senses. Much like the setting, modern day NYC, it is fast paced and exciting. The surpirse ending leaves you wanting more. A recommended read for all vampire lore aficionados and fans of the erotic thriller genre.

Sat Apr 04 2009In a departure from his previous short chapbook-style satire on office politics but displaying the same keen insight into the dynamics of human power plays, Andrew Valentine's first novel will delight horror fans who love the way the genre thrills by demanding a price for promiscuity but prefer writers who can inject some originality into the way the piper is paid. New Yorkers who bemoan the gentrification of Alphabet City and the Lower East Side also will also enjoy the side trip back to the Loisada of the 1908s this novel takes them on. Don't let the "out of stock" stop you, it's just that the publisher only stocks when you order, a process I think took about a month for me. It was worth the wait.

Sat Apr 04 2009Erotic and bloody, fast-paced and scary - Bitter Things is just so cool, with a hard-hitting New York sensibility: Undead Sex and the City. The characters are fun and likeable (even the bad ones); the dialog is crisp; the sex is hot; the horror is horrific; and there's real humor here, too. The scenes are written cinematically, and although it is literary, you can't help thinking that this would make a great movie. And the ending was unexpected but satisfying. Overall, it's the type of book you can't put down once you get started. I recommend it for everyone. In fact, it behooves everyone on Amazon to buy a copy of Bitter Things!

Tue Mar 31 2009I couldn't put down this fast paced thriller. The action gets going right away and the erotic scenes are hot! NYC is portrayed so vividly I felt like I was there. I recommend this escapist novel to anyone whose ever wondered just how much a relationship can handle.
