I remember nothing about it, although I'm sure my emergence from the warm comfort of my mother's womb into the cold sterility of the hospital delivery room only to get my ass slapped by the doctor was assuredly my first great trauma in life. (I've heard that people can get hypnotized, go back, and re-experience their birth. My question is-- why in hell would they want to?) My birth occurred in Newark, NJ, which was only marginally less crummy then than it is now. My genetic mother was a teenager, and she wasn't allowed to see me, as her father had determined that I was going to be put up for adoption, and it was felt it might be easier on her emotionally if she had no further contact with me once I had emerged from my 9 months of "captivity". At one point, she was able to prevail on a sympathetic Filipino nurse, who went into the nursey and held me up so my birth mother could see me through the glass window. My genetic parents wanted to marry and keep me, and as much as 2 17-year old t... Read more

It's so important that I don't remember any of it. However, without it I would not exist.

Seeing my daughter being born was just awesome!! Life is so precious; it's a shame that people don't realize it!! If they did then maybe just maybe this place we call home would be better!!! I know when I think about birth my heart goes all fuzzy. My first thought is always to my wife for giving birth to our beautiful daughter. The second is when I held my daughter, I will never forget that feeling!!!  WONDERFUL

If you don't accomplish this, the rest of this list becomes pretty superfluous.

Although it's a pre-requisite for Life, and possibly the ONE thing we ALL have in common, nobody remembers their own.

I'm ninteen and my wife is 21 and she already has our children's names planned out(with my input, of course). James and Abigail, or James and Ethan, or Abigail and Emma. We aren't even going to try to have kids for several years.

I've never thought of this one. . .it's gotta be the event of our lives, right? All else is secondary. . .

I watched The Weather Channel in the womb so it was great to get out and actually see it all for myself!

That's right: no one asked you for your permission: make your best of it. When we are born, we cry that we are come to this great stage of fools.

In my thirty years on this Earth I have heard people say many times: I wish I was never born. For those sad individuals who have this kind of attitude.... quit singing the blues and realize that everyone is born for a purpose. Our mission in life is to discover it for ourselves.
