The floor plan is open, yet recessed so it doesn't feel like a cafe. The bar needs room for making orders, bc the entire bar is blocked by chairs so you either squeeze between others or wave your hands wildly to get the bartender's attention. The system they're using to manage songs is great. You have an LCD panel and keypad at each table so you can browse the database easily. I read and write Chinese, but I'm sure the lack of a cryptic Chinese remote is great for the English-speaking crowd. The songs are played table by table, with 2 songs per table max before the next table gets a song. It's a fair system and with 6 stations, a typical wait time would be about 20 minutes -- not bad. The sound system is good. It is pretty clear and reading the lyrics was easy bc in addition to a large projection, there are 32in screens suspended over the tables. One thing to note is that the mics have a problem with feedback even though if speakers are far away. To combat the problem, the dj turns t... Read more

This place is a NIGHTMARE! I attempted to host a birthday party at BINY last week. I called up and reserved a private room for a minimum of 150 dollars an hour for a minimum of 3 hours. The reservation taker told me the card would be used to ensure that at least 450 dollars would be charged to the room through the course of the evening. However, when I called to confirm my reservation 2 hours prior to the event I was told that the card will be charged 450 plus 20% tip and tax for a grand total of $600!!! After I tried to explain several times this was contrary to what I had originally agreed to I was yelled at and demanded to cancel my reservation. I told them it was not an option since I had over 30 people arriving at their bar too soon to cancel. They said we just gave away your room dont show up here. This is all just hours before a big party! I spoke to several people on the phone and all were rude and unable to be reasoned with. This place is an absolute nightmare! Nee... Read more

My friends and I have been regular Biny fans for the past yr. Pretty much any cocktail for 8 bucks. Beers are 6 bucks. Private room at 50 dollar min. per hour. HOWEVER, we got screwed this last time when no one told us, and it wasn't posted on the menu that the pitcher of beer is 40 BUCKS!!! WTF!!>!> I've NEVER been anywhere in the city that charges that much for a pitcher. Not to mention its a SUPER smalll pitcher served with high ball glasses, not even beer glasses (so when you argue about the price they can say "oh well you get 6 beers out of it" at which time i added that you get 3-4 beers in draft glasses and 6 in HIGH BALL glasses...they didn't seem to know the difference. Anyhow, we were just really upset with the over charges that no one let us know before hand. It was uncharacteristic of the rest of the menu prices...so BEWARE and NEVER get pitchers. It's cheaper to just oder them by glass (you get the beer in draft glasses when you go one by one) which is WAY more for your m... Read more

Enjoyed the weekday special. $18 for entree and a few hours of karaoke...can't beat that! The food is enjoyable. What more can you ask for?

Granted, it's a bit pricey.. But some people come out and they don't mind spending the money. So many people complain about the service and the English songs, maybe they should just go back to those cheap karaoke's bar where people scream their lungs out instead of "singing"... It's an asian joint, we can tell. They are "Asian owners" so what do you people expect?? My American friends and I go there quite often and we enjoy it.. It's 2 songs a table, so of course if the place is packed, it'll take awhile.. Do the math before complaining... The service is not that bad... If you see people there order a dozen of drinks a time.. So if you were being cheap and ordering one, get ur butt over to the bar instead of having them poor waitress walking over to you...

I've been to BINY a couple of times with work friends and both times we had a lot of fun. The drinks were good as was the service and the karaoke lets us forget about life for a while.

Biny's isn't the nicest place in terms of atmosphere, but I always have a lot of fun when I go there (probably because of the company). Private rooms aren't exactly cheap, so college students (like me & my friends) often have to go in big groups to make the cost worth it.... and that usually means tight, cramped seating and lots of noise. The drinks are okay, but not exactly worth the price ($6-$8 a shot). The on-screen song selection is a lot easier to browse than a book, in my opinion, but is not as extensive as I hoped. Popular American artists like Rihanna and Fergie only have like 1 song to their name on the system....... disappointing.

BINY karaoke is a lot of fun. Great karaoke selection, very good drinks and attentive service. We tried some sushi as well which was also good. Recommended.

Rented a private room for a friend's birthday. Seating was tight and the room was kind of run down. The microphones consistently cut in and out; we asked several times to have them fixed or replaced to no avail. The speakers were pretty crappy and there was no book for songs -- you had to scroll through them on a separate screen. We first ordered drinks -- beer and saki. The beer took probably about 10 minutes to come. The saki took a half hour (and was gross). We then ordered a bunch of sushi and other things for the group to share. The sushi was edible, but not good. The other things were cold and disgusting. No one really ate anything. The service was chaotic to say the least. We had 3 different people coming in and out bringing us things, and it was unclear who to ask for what. After ordering drinks and waiting, we were unsure of whether or not we should place the order again with one of the other waiters/waitresses. The only positive thing was the check -- expensive ... Private room was a blast. Staff could not have been more courteous. Drinks were plentiful and quickly replaced. American song list was extensive. My wife's 30th birthday party was truly a party.

Went for a bachelorette party, rented a private room. service was great, very nice. came right away to put in our songs. drinks took a while (and they were weak) but they all came as ordered. Food was surprisingly good. They even let us bring in outside, um, entertainment, and hooked up a special dvd drive so the "entertainer" could play his own music. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Overall a super fun night. Check the bill closely though b/c tip is included for large parties.

I was able to make a room reservation for a Memorial weekend Saturday at 4 pm for the same evening at 8pm! Our ceiling started leaking due to the sudden need for A/C as NYC went from winter to summer, but they promptly and apologetically moved us to a bigger room. Not the most compreshensive song selection, but the bar karaoke goers and my group certainly found enough songs to try. Very nice indeed.

I recently had my friends bachelorette party here. Fifteen twenty-five year old girls took this place by storm. First of all, they honored their reservation, with no fuss. We reserved a semi-private room when we got there. Then I found out the minimum amount per hour included drinks, WOW! The music selection was good, not completely modern but I don't think karaoke always should be. We were all about bringing the 80's and 90's back. The service was great, there was always someone to bring us drinks. Everyone really had a great time. It is a great idea for bachelorette or bithday parties.

Forget about all the negative reviews. Most were probably written/posted by BINY's competitors trying to cause some ruckus. Morons. Really, BINY's a great place to just chill and relax. The atmosphere has a pretty nice vibe to it and the food is fantastic. Love the sushi!!!! As far as the karaoke...you can't go wrong. No joke. There's so many songs to choose from, and most of which are really updated. It doesn't matter if you have a large group, or just a few friends, BINY's an awesome place to go.

Last night (thursday) we threw my friend a birthday party in a private karaoke room at Biny---and it was GREAT! They took really good care of us, the room was very cool--adjustable air conditioning, adjustable lights, adjustable volume of music. The music selection was ok--the corresponding videos were hysterical--the food and drinks were really good and the service couldn't be beat! Everyone had a blast--even those who "hate" karaoke (but secretly love it) had a great time!

BINY is the best place for singing in New York, hands down. It's reminicent of all great Karaoke bars in Asia with a GREAT selection of Chinese songs that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. Granted, their English song selection is not very extensive, but even their Engligh collection is WAY better than any other Chinese run Karaoke joint in the area. Yes, I'm a regular, because I've BEEN to all the other Karaoke bars in the city and BINY is hands down #1 in New York City.

I think the good ratings are put in by the owner. The drinks taste nasty and are overpriced. Service wasn't good, and the song selection was limited. If you sit in the lobby, it takes forever before it's your turn. If you sit in a room, the only good thing biny has over other karaokes is that the decor is a tad bit nicer. In conclusion, it's not worth it.

I don't know why people go here. I can see that yes, they have a more advanced karaoke system than most places, but 70% of the songs are in Chinese and the ones that are in English are from the 50's-80's. The beer is ridiculously overpriced and it takes forever for them to get around to your song. The crowd is mostly Asian and they're all regulars.

The people who work here are not friendly. I had a really bad time here. The Drinks are real pricey. When it is time to sing, it takes about 2 hrs for your selection to appear. There are much better places around the city. This definately is not the place

I went with several friend..i love the concept of Sushi, Drinks and Karaoke in private rooms. The space is nice and clean and equipment works well..the problem is their song list is very very limited..not even on Michael Jackson song for example. Also, it was very cold in there. They need to add more songs and also need to fix the heat..then the place will be hopping. Also...they can get away with an hourly charge for the private rooms...most places do that and they should too

I found myself wandering around Soho w/ a few friends. Tired after a long day in the city, we stumbled upon BINY. We went in for a few drinks, which were very good and also ate some sushi(also very good). I'd recommend BINY to others

I never thought I'd be caught dead(or alive) singing karaoke in front of strangers. Something about the atmosphere at BINY made it very comfortable. Maybe it had something to do with the delicious cocktails I had beforehand, but, bottom line, I had a blast.

I know, karaoke seems a bit 80s, but, hesitantly, I gave it a shot after my friends had dragged me here. Once I got over the initial fear(with the help of some very well made cocktails), simply, I had a great time. I'd recommend Biny to others.

WE went to BINY for an office party...and we sang all night! my boss loved it and everyone enjoyed the music, not to mention the live singer they had performing in between all the guest. She was great and was a huge help with the songs. We can not wait to go back and THANK you BINY for buying our entire group a round of shots! You really got the party started! We hated to leave, but we'll be back! The food was great and the place was great.
