His first four albums were creative ironic and slightly humorous. After that he went to shit, but I like to remember the goodtimes. mellow gold and odelay are his best efforts.

Beck is a gifted, talented artist. He's very verastile and has made some superb music. I remember when Loser first came out my friend and I went to Philly foolishly assuming that we could get into a Beck show at the height of the Loser song. We went on more of a whim for something to do. None of us really thought he was much besides the flavor of the day. As we stood back in a huge line a guy came out and said the show is sold out. We could'nt believe it. Months later I heard the full album mellow gold and it was then that I realized we underestimated a true genius.

so diverse he doesnt exist sometimes. seems the faceless movement between genre's of music is his whole act, and while the individual albums can be entertaining, and show glimmers of genius, the guys doesnt cultivate a knowledge of one music enough to see any kind of progression. oh wow Beck is doing hip-hop now, or this is Beck's bosa nova album; gee Beck has gone acoustic! will the real Beck Hansen please stand up.

Sea Change is a brilliant album. I love beck because he is artistic and original and well respected in the music industry. i'm glad he's only had a few hits because i think it's kept him from selling out and going mainstream. In order to really love beck, i guess, you just have to be a certain kind of person....*lol* a little screwed up, a little wacky and a sense of humour, of course, is a must.

If you like Beck, I suggest you go to www.kpunk.com and order "One Foot in the Grave," Beck's early release on K records. It's him and an acoustic guitar, collaborating with indie greats like Calvin Johnson and Doug Martsch. Great album.

UM, HELLOOOO!!! Beck is a bad-a** mother f***er!! He's not afraid of incorporating a wide range of musical sounds & genres together to create his own unique musical smorgasbord. That is why I never get burned out on him- he always keeps you guessing...and never sells out to what mainstream America tells you is supposed to be cool.

One of the few artists with a large market appeal today who's willing to take risks, sculpt artistic songs and be charming and witty rather than vapidly agreeable (along the lines of Britney, BSB) or mindlessly negative (a la Korn, Limp Bizket). The man is also an extremely talented musician and songwriter! His melodies are simultaneously bizarre and sublime! Listen to "We Live Again" and tell me that's not an incredibly diabolical melody line! Beck (along with acts like Radiohead, Moby and Lauryn Hill) has helped me to not abandon listen to contemporary popular music all-together.

I started out with a real dislike for Beck, based solely on the “Loser” video, which was amusing the first time you saw it and very annoying the 100th time (a phenomenon that happens less these days, now that MTV never seems to play videos anymore). But a friend talked me into buying Beck’s second major release, “Odelay,” and I got hooked. It was original, but in a strange, 80s kind of way. Then I bought Beck’s “Mutations” CD, and while it didn’t get nearly as much attention as “Odelay,” I thought it was even better. “Midnite Vultures,” his latest, didn’t disappoint, although I started out really liking that one and then getting tired of it fast. Anyway, Beck has talent, and I’m looking forward to hearing what he does next.

Beck is a brilliant, revolutionary genius. His music is true poetry, cryptic with imagery. His energy is uninhibited, contagious. I was fortunate enough to be able to see him play locally in Ventura before he became too big to play smaller theatres. Not to say that he doesn't still try to reach out on a personal level with his audience at the big shows. I don't quite vibe with the "I Want to Get With You (and Your Sister" song (sorry - I don't actually know the title of it). I've heard the explanation that it it his way of satirizing that mentality and that genre of music, but I tend to think that - as with the Beastie Boys writing "You Got to Fight for Your Right to Party" as a farcical song and it becoming an anthem at the time - that we only perpetuate acceptance of such attitudes, not awareness. Or is that the way he really feels? Someone enlighten me. Anyway, Beck rocks. I tend to think that those who think Beck is stupid or his music is lame are those that were the a**h... Read more

This guy reminds me of the idiot in my 2nd grade class who picked his nose and wiped it on the walls. Show me one intelligent morsel of spit in this moron's music and I will grow myself an extra leg. He is a waste of musical space.

Beck is the absolute best rock artist ever. he has more creativity, brilliance, and originality than any other recording artist. i actually only started listened to beck about two years ago, and i now have all of his cds. it seems like no one really appreciates his music around where i live. he helped me realize my musical dream and i only hope the music i make can be oh about one-sixteenth as good as his.

The first time I heard beck was in 1998 on Saturday Night Live, I was about eleven years old then(I'm 13 now). I knew I had to get the CD that he performed the song from, and I don't regret it one bit! Beck is still my favorite musical artist today, and will always be. His music has so much variety, and is so unpredictable, yet it always sounds so great. Since I'm only a 13 year old girl, most people would think that I'm into Nysnc or some other bands like that. Let me tell you something, Nystink, bboys, bspears, mmoore, aguilera, etc all SUCK! I would never like any of those bands, which is why all my friends think I'm a weirdo. But I don't give a crap what they think. Anyhow, Beck has also inspired me to pick up the guitar(been playing for about 7 mos now), and I've also began songwriting. I've officially decided that my career is going to me somewhere in the music, no matter how much or little pay there is. Music is my life, and Beck rules. He's a very talented and handsom... Beck is my hero! I love his charm, his whittyness, his talent and just everything about him. I absolutely adore him as well as his music, art, and poetry. He is my idol and inspiration. I think I might be in love with him, I don't know, we'll see what happens. Now that he's single, who knows. I have hung out with him a few times, and I just felt so comfortable. Beck easily gets a 5 star rating. He's the greatest!
