Mon Dec 17 2012Great Band!
by skizero
Fri Mar 25 20054 stars b/c it's The Beatles. but this is a collection undeserving of their cohesive overall output. the Red and Blue cds did a much better job. i understand there was a market for a single disc Beatles set, but why gimmick it w/1's, leaving out so many songs with much more credibility. doesnt make sense.

Mon Feb 07 2005What an awesome cd, The Beatles know how to jam. RIP John Lennon

Mon Jan 10 2005wow the beatles are legends as we all know, what can i say, all the number one's on one album.

Fri Dec 17 2004The beatles were a great band and this really helps bring them to the 21st century. Highly recommened

Sun Nov 14 2004I don't own it because I already have all the songs. There's better Beatles compilation albums, namely The Red and The Blue. By focusing specifically on their number 1 singles, they left out a lot of worthy songs. Still, it's the damn Beatles.

Tue Apr 06 2004A good compilation of some of the Beatles best songs. I like the fact that in recent years there are some new greatest hits from groups from the past. Offered at an affordable price. I f you like the Beatles some good songs are on this CD.
by guava_monkey
Tue Mar 23 2004The Beatles were at their best when they were offbeat and experimental and at their worst on the poppier radio-friendly numbers, which dominate this compilation. It's a poor representation of what they did. I dont agree with people who write them off wholesale just because they are 'old'. That's a bit pathetic. Nor do I think the sun shines out of their collective backsides. To hear the Beatles at their best check out 'The White Album' and 'Magical Mystery Tour'.

Mon Feb 23 2004I would have given this album a perfect 10 but some of the songs that were on that album didn't go to #1 in Billboard. Maybe that is not how the ablum was made. It could be possible that in other parts of the world the songs were at #1 but I love to go by BILLBOARD statistics. The album was a very awsome compilation in my opion.

Fri Nov 21 2003this beatles compilation is getting 3 for two reasons. first of all there have already been a million other beatles compiltations and i doubt there are many households that don't already own these songs twice on seperate disks. also the songs on this album do not aptly display the beatles best at all, nor is it a complete singles collection, (what about please please me and strawberry fields?). saying that though you cannot deny the sheer quality of the songs here, from day tripper to penny lane each and every one of them are gems. uh huh

Wed Nov 19 2003A long awaited albuma and I believe it is one of the best greatest hits albums out there. It covers the long line of Beatles greats from when they were moptops singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand to the times of turmoil like Let It Be. This is truly a must-have in any music fan's collection.

Wed Jan 15 2003I've been encountered by numerous Beatles compilations in my life, and all of them good I might add, but the "1" album is THE essential hits project, especially for the Generation Y crowd who are curious about a little band from Liverpool who changed the world of rock and roll once upon a time. That's why I was very pleased to see it hit #1 for a few weeks. The album perfectly displays, in chronological order, how their sound matured from the "Meet The Beatles" sessions all the way up to "Let It Be". A great CD!

Thu Nov 21 2002Awesome CD. Of course, there is no single cd which could begin to cover all the great songs the Beatles did, but this would be a good start for someone wanting to try them for the first time.

Thu Jun 13 2002The BEST collection of great songs-EVER. No one can deny the Beatles were the best band ever. No wonder this CD sold SOOO many copies!! It's superb!
by flano720
Wed Mar 20 2002Each song is a classic but none of my favourite songs are on this album. The White Album or Revolver are far superior albums.

Fri Feb 08 2002If anyone had any interest in the Beatles, this would be the album to start with. At first, I as a bit weary buying this because I nver did hear a good number of the songs on this album. However, my urge to buy a CD came in, and it was the best CD Barnes and Noble had for sale. Once I heard it, I now understood why poeple made such a big deal about the Beatles. Nearly every song on this disc is enjoyable all the way through. This was the greatest hits CD that finally did the band justice.
by irockmorethany_oubaby
Tue Jan 29 2002Bad compilation, why just include singles? Thei best songs were mostly album tracks. Skip this one and buy the red and blue albums instead, they're much better value for your money!
by playmisty
Mon Jan 07 2002Why would anyone buy the same songs time & time again? Enough already !!!!!

Sun Dec 02 2001Great collection of songs from one of the truly great bands of the twentieth century! I can very easily listen to this CD over and over again, it's so good.
by ellajedlicka21
Sun Sep 23 2001Still the best after all these years.

Fri Jul 13 2001While a few of my personal favorites did not make this album, I still enjoyed it. The Beatles are timeless & the successful sales of this album only proves that. Let's see such artists as N Sync, BSB, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, etc. do this in 30 years. IT WON'T HAPPEN!!!!!
by quinn98
Mon Jul 09 2001The 60's are over and so are the Beatles. Get over it!!!!
by springsteen80s_baby
Tue Apr 24 2001I will give the Beatles credit for being so successful, and for still being enjoyed today, but my personal music taste caused me to avoid this one on the record shelves. I like Can't Buy me Love, but other than that, my sister is the Beatle fan in my family
by jerrys_girl
Wed Mar 07 2001What the f*** is this?! They need to move on and stop being so full of themselves. They enjoyed their fame back in the 60's or whenever, so they need to give other musicians a chance to sell their records. I mean the only people buying the cd are probably old. They need to get over the past and stop trying to steal the spotlight from other bands.
by bubbles0613
Tue Feb 27 2001I really disagree with My friend who is know as Georgelover. I think that the beatles are old and they stink at singing. I think that George and all the rest of them are too old to sing.
by happy1970
Thu Feb 22 2001So sick of hearing the same relics over and over.

Wed Feb 21 2001Great - as ever and always! I play this one over and over at work and never get tired of it. It's a great selection of some of their best stuff. Recommended for any Beatles fan or a good introduction for the newbies (taste in music required of course!).

Mon Feb 12 2001his album is grait. It is a collection of thier best songs. If you don't like this album then you don't know music.Oh yeh "Let it be" is the graitest song ever.

Fri Feb 09 2001The only reason this crap is number one now is that the world is full of aging hippies and simple people.

Fri Feb 09 2001I'm only 13, but I LOVE the Beatles and the people who are giving them 1 star are really pissing me off. I mean, their the most legendary band ever! Whoever says their songs are crap, they're justdoing it for the money, and that the Beatles are dead, are apparantley shallow people with low self esteem, and horrible taste in music. Do you think Eminem, NSYNC, and all those other artists today will have a number 1 CD in 30 years. I DON'T THINK SO! In my opinion, George Harrison is the hottest man alive, sure I get teased about it but I don't care. When I'm frustrated or sad, I put in a Beatles CD and I bounce right back. The Beatles music will never die. My dad introduced their music to me, and I'll introduce it to my kids, it'll go on and on. Anyone who gives this CD less than 5 stars needs HELP! I LOVE GEORGE HARRISON!

Mon Feb 05 2001Give me a break. The 3 remaining Beatles had a lot to do with the release of this album as well as the overpriced Anthology book. Maybe Teaseress should get with reality. These guys will do anything to make a buck, even though they certainly don't need it. Why keep releasing the same thing over & over again? Because nobody buys their new material. Hence the re-release of the terrible "All Things Must Pass" album by Harrison. But people still seem to be suckered by this group, the media's sacred cow. If Apple released another CD next year with 2 songs different than this CD, the same, stupid people, will shell out more money for the same crap as this CD has! The Beatles are ancient history, let it go already!
by teaseress
Mon Feb 05 2001I didn't realise it was a crime for one of the greatest bands of the 20th century to have a compilation album released so that the new generation could listen to it. So, are the people here saying that people such as Jimi Hendrix shouldn't have his material re-released? I doubt that it was the remaining band members of The Beatles who pushed for this to be done. The Beatles were fantastic and this album has been a sell-out over here (UK). And yes, they are far more orginal than most of the bands present today. They wrote all their material and could play instruments. The Beatles can't release anymore albums (and haven't done for years) as John Lennon was killed back in the 80's, so before you people slander them, please get your facts correct.
by beatleman70
Fri Jan 26 2001All you people badmouthing this album are just plain idiots and dont know a thing about them in the first place. They laid the groundwork for everything out today, from rock to rap. Wake up and stop getting mad because a band that broke up 30 years ago can re-release the same old hits now, and out sell jokes like Backstreet Girls and that waste of human life Skittles, I mean Reeses Peices, I mean Eminem.
by jensecret74
Fri Jan 12 2001Why is this crap under "current" CDs? This drivel is soooo old, it should be labeled "dinosaur" CDs.
by expressjeans
Tue Nov 21 2000Enough already! It's been 30 years since the demise of these guys. Aren't they embarrassed to keep releasing these songs for money? That's because nobody buys their current albums.
by nikita91
Thu Nov 16 2000It's amazing how people get suckered by artists and record companies. This collection of ditties is the up-teenth release for these songs, in one form or another. How many times can you listen to these same old songs? This group has been worn out long ago, just because it's the same thing over and over and over.... The Beatles are dead. Move on!
by jackie72
Thu Nov 16 2000Releasing the same material over and over is a joke. Just a way to rake in more money for these over-rated has beens. What does "Love Me Do" even mean? Anyway, they didn't have 27 Number One hits. Since when do you combine the US and UK charts?
by lou28jg
Thu Nov 16 2000This group a couple of good songs, none of which are on this CD. Their "hit" songs were some of the worst songs they ever did. "Eight Days A Week" and "Hello Goodbye" are examples of pure crap.
by samiam
Thu Nov 16 2000This is an excellent CD. In college, I made a mixed tape of all of my favorite Beatles songs and "Beatles 1" just about matches it to a T. Starting out with fun hits like "Love me do" and "I want to hold your hand," it mellows out for a bit with "Yesterday" and then picks up again with more all time favorites. The only song missing for me is "Julia." Finally, you end up with "The long and winding road," the perfect ending to this amazing CD. Hardcore fans, this is a necessary addition to collection, all other fans, this is the best collection of Beatles songs you can get in one place. It is also a great introduction to anyone who hasn't yet discovered this legendary band.
