She made me laugh.I thought she was very good in every role I saw her in.

Bea Arthur was a woman??

I'm too young to know her prior to the Golden Girls, but I loved the show and it was my mother's favorite at the time. I do clearly remember her role in the show and the others as well, and I remember liking every single one of them. It's at least good to know that she lived well into her 80s and enjoyed a good acting career througout her life.

I start to feel my age because those that i watched as a kid are starting to go one by one. I liked her in maude and I loved her in the golden girls. She played Dorothy very convincing.

Why do the good ones always die so young? Nevermind...Bea Arthur was playing an old lady on Golden Girls twenty five years ago, so its not like she didn't enjoy old age for a while. In the last few years it was pretty hilarious to see her as the butt of jokes on Comedy Central's Roast of Pamela Anderson. I give her respect for keeping a good sense of humor into old age. I don't know a whole lot about acting, but she had a career that spanned half a century, so she must have been great. Most actresses struggle to find parts as they age, but apparently that wasn't a problem for Arthur.

she was a good actress. famous for the dead pan look, and then that "pregnant pause" she was so good at before one of her characters said their lines. she usually played the person who did not take any crap from anyone. Sad to hear she died today. she was in her mid eighties so not a shock. she was good in Maude and i especially liked her in the Golden Girls. just saw her in a clip on you tube singing Bossom buddies with Angela Landsbury. RIP Bea Arthur.
