Some may think that there are Head Coaches that are better that Barry in the NCAA. That may be true, even though I don't think so, but there has never been a Coach in either the NCAA or Pro sports for that matter, that has so dramatically changed not just a football program, but an entire region. We as Badger fans and alumni, have a sense of Pride about our school and our State that just didn't exsist before Barry. He put us on the map, and did it the right way. BARRY, THANK YOU!!!!!

I don't care what any previous posts say about Barry Alvarez. You can stack him up against other, more legendary and successful college football coaches, speculate how he would have done had he coached in another conference or how much greater success he would have seen had he had better talent on his teams, but it boils down to this: he is the greatest coach in Wisconsin football history. And for long-suffering Badger fans who lived through years and years of horrible football prior to his tenure, that's all that matters. We'll miss you Barry! Thanks for everything you've done.

As a Badger fan living here in the SEC, if Coach A had any of the talent that these guys get down here he would have won multiple (BCS)championships. No other coach takes so many stones and polishes them into diamonds. Look at all the UW alumn in the NFL, it kinds of speaks for itself. The coach is great and will be surely missed by the true Badger fans who understand football. the Big-10 is such a better conference than the SEC in every category but never get the due respect because we don't have the flash.

Good, but not great. Loyal to a fault. Thank God Kevin Cosgrove left on his own, or we would be stuck with that stiff forever. At least it looks like he's trying to push Brian White out the door. You coach at Wisconsin, you run the ball. You don't throw it 40 times a game. Terrible clock management. Never calls a timeout when he should. I swear he gets a bonus for unused timeouts at the end of the year.

He does not attract the best recruits but gives the best teams in the Big Ten, great games.

Stupid rating (rantings) in this poll. First of all, that NCAA investigation was a joke. A local shoe store was to blame for giving discounts and credit to players. That pales in comparison to Michigan alums giving cash to players... or the free academic passes all the SEC schools give. Anthony Davis, OUR Anthony Davis (RB), had a 4.0 at WISCONSIN last year - any of you EVER had a 4.0? Anyway, back to Barry. He inherited a mess that destroyed all the great work done by the late Dave McClain. Ever hear of the VEER offense? Barry inherited VEER players recruited by a very poor coach, Don Morton (do you know how long it took to find that name on the Net?), trying to run a wishbone offense in the Big Ten. Within three years, I was sitting in Pasadena, watching us beat UCLA. Barry made Wisconsin the Big Ten team of the nineties with THREE ROSE BOWL WINS out of three Rose Bowl appearances!

I am sorry to hear of Munson's problem... but, one should be careful about throwing stones..Can't understand the low ratings here. Not great, but good. Wisconsin was nothing before Alvarez got there and he competes every year with much less talent than most. I mean, who the hell wants to go to Wisconsin to play ball. Please. His teams play hard most of the time

I'm glad you didn't take the Miami job (although it would have been quite a promotion for you), you'll be unemployed as soon as the NCAA completes its investigation.

Alvarez has proven to be one of the top coaches in college football. Since he has taken over, Wisconsin has consistently been near the top of the Big 10.

Too bad his kid puts parrots in microwaves, which is almost as bad as Barry being a Nebraska alum. But you can't dispute he's a very good coach.
