I had one of these added to my subway sandwich and it was really good. I don't particularly like subway, but this definitely made the sandwich. I've heard that they're pretty healthy, being fatty but good fatty, and high in potassium.

I love good avocados, but one thing that I can't stand is to cut one open and see that it's all rotten on the inside. If it's a good one, I lightly salt it, and, well, you know the rest.

One day, mother nature had too much roughage for lunch and it gave here green diarrhea. Oily, nasty, green diarrhea. That's what avocados feel like: Mother Nature's Chlorophyll-laden Diarrhea. However, when tempered by such things as a club sandwich, and or jalapenos, limes and tortilla chips... avocado becomes a superstar in my head. While it doesn't excel in very many things, Avocado sure kicks butt at the things it's good at.

Avocados are good. They aren't my favorite, but I'll have one every now and them because they are just everywhere here in California.

Not a fan of the texture. Too creamy.

Although the creamy rich Hass avocados are generally available throughout the year, they are the most abundant and at their best during the spring and summer in California and in October in Florida.

Cut the avocado in half, lenghthwise.  In the pit hole, pour balsamic vinegar.  Hmmm!  That is really good.

Yum yum YUM!!!!! I eat at least one a week, they are probably my favorite treat of all time. I love it with just salt or in a veggie sandwich, it's delicious.Oh ya, what would a cobb salad be without this lovely fruit? EDIT: recently my supermarket has been supplying us with Mexican ones, but I prefer the Californian ones; they have much more flavor.

Awesome, filling quick snack... ok, lots of fat, but a skiiny wicket like me needs the extra fat!

A perfectly ripe Avocado is something to behold. Rich, buttery and soft. Eaten by itself with a shot of Tabasco on a slice of good white bread, it is one of life's little pleasures. A Mexican and southwestern staple. Guacamole, Salsa and chips, what a great way to start a meal. The Fuerte and Hass are the two best types to eat.

Exquisite, to those who have palates undestroyed by the Burger King style of cuisine. Subtle and delicate, they are very adaptable. And for the mongoloids commenting on here that they are vegetables, I suggest you summon your insubtantial literacy and check an encyclopedia. They are a fruit.

Hard to cut open, hard to de-pit, and while certainly not hard to eat, it is a flavorless, bland fruit. The texture is somewhat mushy, and rather than adding flavor to sandwiches and burgers, I feel it takes away from them. While certainly a cool flavor in the form of guacamole in layered dips, I would never eat it plain.

In Chile they put avocados on everything - hamburgers, hot-dogs, salads, steak sandwich, etc. It really changes the meal!

Another item that shouldn't be on the fruit list! I can't imagine why anyone would just eat an avacado. However, I am very partial to Guacamole.

Everybody around the world loves avocados- guacomole, California Rolls, avocat & crevettes, etc. I love them in a turkey club sandwich or pita sandwich, along with bacon, sprouts and everything else. This fruit just makes anything taste better. And its loaded with Vitamin A & E which are especially good for the skin. FYI: if you slash(not deeply)an avocado a shelled brain-like avodado pit with a sharp knife, it "bleeds" red blood. No joke, try this at home. It's the eriest thing.

I am crazy about avocados, and I'd eat them everyday if they didn't contain so much fat (at least it's good fat). They are smooth, creamy, and absolutely delicious. My favorite way to eat avocados is to make guacamole, but I also like to add them to salads, soups, sandwiches, and any kind of Mexican food. The other day, I was delighted to find a bag of tiny avocados at the store. They were the ideal single-serving size, and their flavor was fantastic. I avoid buying the large, smooth-skinned avocados because they are kind of watery and not as flavorful as the smaller, bumpy-skinned type. In addition to being delicious, I know that avocados are very nutritious. I'd eat them no matter what, though!

I am not a particularly big fan of the avocado. I simply do not like the taste of the fruit. The ones from tropical areas like the Caribbean and Central America are better than the domestically grown ones in California. Avocados also have plenty of fat in them, they're okay, just watch out the amount you eat! I do like avocado in the form of guacamole dip, that is simply the best.

Avocados are an excellent source of unsaturated fatty acids. Great "brain food"! Avocado puree is a good alternative to butter on crackers or sandwiches. Try avocado in salads or use to make salad dressing. Guacamole (avocado dip) is a delicious appetizer. My family loves avocado blended into icy fruit smoothies, and cold avocado soup. Mashed avocado is the perfect first food for babies. Pre-schoolers love them sliced as the smile on "fruit faces" or made into avocado boats. Make sure they are ripe before you cut them. A hard, green avocado can take up to 5 days to ripen. To speed up ripening try placing them in a paper bag at room temperature. The skin will become darker and the avocado will feel soft when ripe.
