Anyone who says this is a good nail place has not been to anything near a great nail place. I was staying around the corner and I needed a quick manicure so saw it and went in. The manicurist had cuts all over her hands which was the first thing that irked me out. Then, all the tools they were using were just in a box. NOT in a clean package or even in barbicide or similar. She sprayed some disinfectant on the tool before she did my cuticles but that's it. The wooden stick that they use to clean out under your nails was USED! My nails chipped the day after I got it and the skin under my cuticles started peeling off. I have never had this happen before and was absolutely disgusted. Go anywhere else and I guarantee you a better experience. You can't get worse than this.

Possibly the worst Nail experience I've ever had. Firstly, the woman file most of my nails that she wasn't supposed to, and didn't have the right tools to do anything. She only had a pair of cuticle nipper. No clipper, no oil, no nothing! she was so unprepared She didn't clean under my nail either. Don't go there- you'll regret it. I had to spend $50 dollars getting it fixed that day somewhere else. I walked out of there unsatisfied !

i've been cut so many times by the women at avalon nails i got a hepitatis b shot... seriously, unless you're up-to-date on this vaccine, don't bother going here... they cut, badly, frequenltly and the odds in a mani-pedi combo are so high that unless you are extremely thick skinned or have never had a manicure or a pedicure, you're going to get cut... the owner of this establishment..is suppose to be in business for 20 years but when i ask him what kind of sterilization he did not seem to know what i was talking about..when i complain they gave me a lousy bandaid???and still made me pay for my service but belive me, vaccine or pick a new joint...

Not really impressed with this place, went to have my brows done and the comb they used on my brows had most of the teeth missing! It's hard to find a place that knows what they are doing, it seems that nail places have popped up all over and this one isn't worth the effort.

I have been going here for about 5 years, ever since it opened, and I have no problems what so ever. Everyone there is very friendly and the service is top notch. The products are ALL made by OPI. The owner of the salon have been in the nail business for 17 years and has owned over 20 salons. I trust this salon 100%. If you are looking for a place to get you nails done then this is the place. Great mani and pedicures. Wonderful massages. Highly Recommended.

I went in for a quick manicure during a business trip and was practically yelled at by an awful manicurist who said her name was Mina. I will say that there were other nail techs in the place who seemed to be more sane, but Mina grew furious at me because I wanted to look at my nails after she cut them. For some reason this made her really angry. When she got to the stage of putting on the cuticle oil she completely missed entire fingers and when i asked her to do them she said "You want to do it yourself?" She did the same thing with the lotion, putting lotion on only two fingers instead of all five. When I asked her to complete the job, I got attitude again. Then she squirted lotion on my other hand, leaned back, crossed her arms and said "Do it yourself." So I did and I said I was leaving. She pulled over another manicurist who was equally rude and crazy to yell at me some more. Then they said if I didn't pay full price for my incomplete manicure they would call security. If oy... I have been using this nail salon for over 2 years off and on. They usually do a really great job. But, the last 2 months that I have been going there, it has been less than perfect. In the beginning of my bad experiences, I just said, maybe the girl was new, and kept going back. Now, I highly recommend that no one go there. They raise their prices because it is Southpark Mall. But, the main reason I will not go is: the last time I went for a full set, I asked for pink and white, got charged for it, but instead got white acrylic tips. It was so painful. All of my fingers were bleeding from her cutting me and when I asked her to stop, she kept going. I was crying it was hurting me so badly, and she still kept going. At the end, when they use the "pointy" drill under the nails, she didnt do that, so where the glue is under the nails, there are things getting caught and it looks dirty. After two days, three nails broke, and so I went back for them to fix. I have had nails on for over 10 ... Read more

Not the greatest manicure experience I've ever had, especially since it only lasted for about 2 days before I had to fix it. The technician that did my manicure barely spoke to me and appeared to be in a huge hurry the entire time she was working, to the point of making the whole experience rather painful and not very relaxing. I probably won't go back there again. The rest of the employees seemed to be in less of a rush and more accommodating to their clients. Maybe someone else will have better luck than I did.

I am sorry Candes, I have to disagree, if this is the salon and salon owner that has another store in Gastonia, yuo are sadly mistaken. You must have been rough and picked at your nails. Everything form this salon is top quality. From the services to the products. I am ALWAYS please when I leave the salon. Their staff is knowledgable and customer service is SUPERB!! I am gonna have to say that that one was on you, Everyone in Gastonia loves Avalon and everyone recommends it to their friends and family. You probably could have gone back after the trip and they might have fixed it for free. I might also want to mention that if you swam in a chlorinated pool that that is why you had the problem you had. Chlorine eats at nails... of all kinds. It is like placing them in acetone and expecting them not to get messed up. It is customary to keep them out of that stuff for 48- 72 hours. ANYWAY, back to the salon. I love this place and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who wants top notch service!!!

I don't usually complain, but I feel like this business may be using cheap products or lying about what they are actually using and doing as a service. I could care less about the fact they do not really want to communicate with you, or are more than likely talking about you in some Asian language which they know you don't understand, but I do care about paying for a service that is to result in a adequate, quality job, especially when it being done on my body. Compared to numerous other nail salons/spas I have been to, this one doesn't even compare to the second worse. It is actually THAT bad.... I went to this nail salon because it was located in the mall and I was running errands and short on time since I was leaving for vacation the next day. I paid over $50 for the solar nail set as I was told they would not turn yellow in the sun, look the most natural and was assured they would not pull up on the sides as acrylics often do. Well this was my primary concern and turned out to be ... Read more
