Thu Feb 11 2010Got balloons filled with helium and the next day all of them are on the floor. Called customer service and told that balloons are only good for 3-5 hours, tell that to my child who has had home filled balloons last days. Worst customer service ever............................... Go elsewhere

Fri Nov 06 2009Yes, the prices are good. Yes, the selection is incredible. But don't expect boutique service at warehouse prices. The times I've asked for help, they were helpful, but not over-the-top. If you're looking for one place to get everything at a reasonable price, Arne's is great. If you have to go upstairs (where all the cups, plates, napkins, etc are), then you have to use the stairs, and they send the stuff down on a conveyor, which is inconvenient. I will continue to shop there, but not at 5:00 when it's crowded.

Fri Oct 16 2009I shop Arne's for all our party supplies - for work parties and personal parties. They have supplies for all the holidays; Halloween, Christmas, etc. We really missed them when they were closed for nearly a year because of the damage from the storm. Very glad they are back!

Sun Oct 11 2009Do not do business with these folks. If you make a mistake in purchase, TOO BAD. They do not take ANYTHING BACK. No refunds/no exchange. DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU JUST BOUGHT IT THE DAY BEFORE. They are jerks!! Stick with other places and I love Oriental Trading online. If there is a problem, they want to make it right.... stick with reputable companies who understand customer service. ALSO... a real biggie... no access to upstairs for physically disabled persons. Bad knees? TOO BAD Wheelchair? TOO BAD Walker or cane assisted? TOO BAD! The reason they are bad on customer service is because they feel that they have such a thriving business they do not have to be considerate to their customers. Show them they are wrong... bad customer service will result in no business. I will NEVER go back!

Wed May 13 2009I've been going to this place since I was a kid. I'm betw/ 35-45. Everytime I would try somewhere else the prices were higher. ex: Party City and Party Boy. My son is 11 and I've been shopping for his party supplies as well as other individual parties almost every year. Not only do they have party supplies, but they had baking supplies of all kinds, gifts for individuals, and everything under the sun for weddings, quinceaneras (sp?), bachelorette, etc. I didn't realize they were closed until driving past & saw it completely demolished and something new being built in it's place. I really pray they will open up somewhere else. Just went on their website to see they closed since Hurricane Ike.

Mon Mar 09 2009I love this place.. can't wait til they re-open. They had everything I needed for my babyshower, and my baby's 1st b-day. Party Boy is so crappy, I love this place.. I shop here for every special occasion.

Tue Sep 02 2008Well my childs birthday is coming up so I thought I would shop here for party supplies, First Parking is a drag, second the staff act like one is inconveniencing them by asking for help, third prices are not all that low so I don't see where I saved any money. I asked a woman for help finding the elmo stuff and she acted like a mad dog with foam in her mouth (trust me I am not exaggerating). I was pretty disappointed seeing as I asked her for help in a very polite way, so I called the supervisor which acted nonchalantly about it. Well turns out the mad dog turned out to be the manager???!!! I do not understand how they would put an angry sour woman to be the manager? Bottomline this store is a bummer, the staff is just very unfriendly and get bothered if one asks for help, Go at your own risk just wear armour because when you ask for help you will get bit and you don't want to get rabies lol.

Mon Jul 14 2008After reading the previous reviews, I thought, "Surely it can't be that bad". Boy, I was wrong. First of all the associates are not helpful when it comes to locating things. They just kind of point and grunt. Second of all, the prices are not labeled correctly or they put a huge stock of something in the wrong place. So if you like surprises, you will get one when you are being rung up at the register. Even when they screw up, they are not willing to fix the situation. When there was a price difference of $3.00 between what was labeled on the box, and what it was rung up as, the cashier (full of hickies on her neck covered with 5 band aids, which is so classy), after we pointed out the difference, said, "What is another $3"? When I went back to check to confirm the price at the counter where we got the item, the associate there was texting people, and when I asked him to call up front to confirm the price labeled on the prodect, he just kind of blinked a lot, letting the hamste... Tue Jun 03 2008The only thing I can say is, The Staff Stinks at helping out. The lines are long and the place is HOT! I wonder if they pay min. wage? Maybe that is why the service staff is so rude. If I work in a hot dirty place like that I might not be nice to people either..............

Tue Aug 14 2007if you call ahead to check on an item, expect a long hold time and inaccurate info. once there, items hard to find and employees are usually talking with each other vs. acknowledging a customer question... AC would be a plus but i can understand the lack of it due to the low prices... register lines are insanely slow. a bilingual cash register lane would be a real plus...

Fri Jun 22 2007I heard about this store and decided to embark on a trip across to Houston to check it out. Huge store, um warm store (Houston/AC?) and the employees are just full of personality (not) - will turn to ebay or online before I make a trip there again. The employees there seem like you are bothing them when you ask them for help.....

Mon May 01 2006Unlike other reviewers, my experience at Arne's was just fine. I spoke to two different employees with questions. The first was helpful; not the most enthusiastic person I've ever spoken to, but certainly not rude either. The second was very helpful, polite and friendly. The selection was immense and amazing. The prices are excellent! I highly recommend this store. A great way to get the party goods you need at a great price!

Mon Mar 13 2006Great selection--especially ribbon and tins. There's no place like it in Houston. Staff VERY unhelpful--always act as if they're doing you a favor. EXTREMELY slow checkouts at all times of the day, but unbearable at lunchtime or 5 PM weekdays. Best time is at opening. If you have the time to spend you can save money, but be ready for the frustration of searching for items, searching for prices, and searching for a helpful employee.

Fri Jan 13 2006Arne's has the best selection of party goods in Houston. Unfortunately the customer service is terrible, the majority of the employees seem to always be mad and are extremely rude to customers. Even if you know the routine (such as droping off your second floor merchandise at the conveyer belt and retrieving it on the first floor) and you follow all the rules exactly, they are still rude and appear to be mad at you all of the time. They will actually scream at you for what you feel is a simple question or they will just ignore you and not answer. It does not matter how nice you try to be or how much money you spend. It's an awful & humiliating shopping experience. It just isn't worth it to me anymore to continue to buy all of my personal, church or business party/meeting needs from them.

Thu Dec 11 2003Any time I'm throwing a party I go to Arnie's first for all my decorating/party favor/tableware supplies. It's cheaper than anywhere else, and I've never had to go somewhere else to get what I want. Also, if you are looking for a theme, just browsing the aisles will solve that problem for you.
