A war criminal the Eisenhower administration (!) wanted to see arrested for his killings of Arab villagers. Would have made a great leader of SS anti-partisan operations. As crooked as Nixon, Harding and LBJ put together, yet unbelievably durable in politics. As much as I dislike him, though, he's the first Israeli leader to make meaningful progress toward giving up some of his country's ill-gotten territorial gains. However suspect his motives, it's progress.

He's bringing down the good name of the Israeli people throughout the world. Israel these days is unfortunately kind of like south africa was 15 years ago(more violent though). A large portion of the population have no rights , suppressed by the masses. They obviously rebel, and are quashed with hugh force, they get angrier and keep on rebelling, carrying out horrible atrocities. Squashed again, they get ever more angrier and its now chaos. Sharon has a lot to answer for, so does arafat, but sharon seems to have a carte blanche to do whatever he pleases. He can kill anyone, the world is outraged, and bush says nothing...even supports him. International law has been violated too many times by these fiends.

I would give him 4 stars, but 5 is to counterweight the bad comments. GOOD. I think Sharon is a better leader than anyone else I see on Israeli political arena. He is the only one who took a hard-line stance on terrorism and issues with PA. BAD. Going to Temple Mount was a mistake, also his inability to make any drastic choices like assasianating arafat is not a good thing. I understand he was pressured by US. But Arafat could have died of natural causes. For Israeli intelligence it is a piece of cake.

Sharon hasn't delivered for the Israeli state. At first, I was kind of optimistic about him, my view was that Sharon would make peace just like Nixon did with China and the Russians. My verdict is that Sharon is politically impotent. He has gotten caught in the long running debate about Israeli national identity versus Jewish identity. The basic question that needs to be answered is whether Israel wants to remain a Jewish state or does it want to become just an Israeli national state that is not exclusively Jewish. Being that there will be more Arabs than Jews in Israel by 2013, I would say that it would be wise for the Jews to make a negotiated peace with the Palestinians. If they don't, the world will view them as an apartheid state, making relations in the overall region even worse. Sharon is a fossil, he is caught between the extremist elements of the right wing Likud party and the more moderate elements of Israel's political spectrum that wants to make peace. Simply put, building ... Read more

Definitely a trouble maker, dishonest, and unreliable as an ally. He has caused more trouble for the United States than some of our worst enemies. He also has the blood of countless Palestinians and Israelis on his hands.

This man is the cause of a large part of the evil in the world. His violently racist anti-Arab views have caused him to wage genocide against the Palestinians. He has agreed to dismantle the illegal settlements and yet openly advertises for contractors to build these settlements in Israeli newspapers. He is the main cause of the US's disastrous middle-east policies, as he somehow has his iron grip around Bush's testicles. His racism is especially virulent, and he is probably the one person in the whole conflict who is the LEAST interested in peace with the Palestinians. He wants them to just leave and go somewhere else, and if they refuse to comply then they must be shot and beaten and humiliated daily until they leave. The fact that his virulent hatred is the product of religious fanaticism makes this a tragedy of epic proportions. The existence of men like this makes me weep for humanity, for we will never be enlightened as long as we produce psychopathic killers like this one... Read more

Well he lacks the charisma but wins on effectiveness, he managed to beat the guerilla tactics of the palestinian intifada. He showed the world and Israel's enemies (Muslims) that Israel is here to stay and the Jewish homeland will never give in.

He's in charge of the only democracy in the Middle East and is surrounded by war-craving terrorist regimes. Our only ally in the region. If the PLO really wanted peace, why did they refuse the 1998 deal where they would have gotten 95% of thier demands? Being non-religous, hatred and killing one another over sand is foolish.

While our public schools fester and millions go without health-care or other basic rights in this country, the White House continues to pump billions of dollars to this regiem. As far as I'm concerned, he's the Jewish Hitler. What kind of man razes refugee camps, kills HUNDREDS of women and children and steals land from the Palestinians in the name of defense? There's a special place next to Saddam in hell reserved for Sharon.

Perhaps the greatest ever Terrorist leader of a Terrorist state. By butchering hundreds if not thousands of Palestinian men women and children (remember Jenin) how can this man of this state be anything else. A common defence for Isreali's (not all however) is to accuse people like myself of anti-semitism. That is an over used and extremelt transparent ploy. I have no grudge against anyones religion and they should be free to practice whatever religion they desire. However, what I do have a grudge against is Isreal's occuption of the Palestine, its continued land grabbing, its breach of the peace process and the dialy slaughter of men, women and children who have been branded terrorists by terrorists. If these people are willing to blow themselves up, please try to consider how desperate they are if they have to go this far. Isreal is becoming increasing alienated exceppt to the Americans and we all know why that is (the Jewish lobbey on Capital Hill - again this is no slur against Jud... Read more

I cannot for the life of me understand how this man won an election! All he's done since he came to power is cause trouble. He destroys refugee camps, the airports, the docks. He bombs policestations, the palestinian authority, he's put Yassir Arafat pretty much in house-arrest. Many isrealis are critical of what he's doing, the UN is critical, the EU is critical even his own government is critical! As far as I can tell Ariel Sharon is not in the least interested in bringing peace between Isreal and Palestine. Not one bit. He makes unreasonable demands, he breaks his deal of the bargain and he constantly claims that he is "fighting the terrorists (palestinians)". How? By destroying civillians homes? Oh yeah, Sharon you rock my world. It's amazing what a guy like him can do and get away with. Ariel also claims that Yasser Arafat isn't doing enough to fight terrorism... Maybe if Ariel didn't set out to kill palestinian millitary/police they'd have an easier time arresting people! Anyone ... Read more

Ariel Sharon is the man with the worst job in the world. He is supposed to make peace in an area that has never known peace in the history of the world. The problem is that neither side wants peace, both sides would prefer the elimination of the other. The bible says that we are to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem", and I do. I also pray daily for wisdom for Ariel Sharon, but without God's intervention I don't see how there can be peace.

The guy is well-known as ruthless and war-ridden. In electing him, Israel elected a man with a thirst to live in combat. He is responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians in lebanon. He is now continuing his legacy as a war-freelancer. There is no way his policies of confrontation and his refusal to conduct peace talks will ever lead Israel to a better future.

Ariel Sharon is the man that GOD has placed in power for Israel at this time in history. Ariel Sharon is a master-mind military genius. Since all nations will be coming against Israel, there needs to be a leader who knows what to do for the people at that time. Ariel Sharon is this man. We all need to read the promise GOD gave to Abraham when he was asked by GOD to come out from where he was living and believing and begin the Jewish nation. Genesis 12:3 is a promise from GOD. If we do what this promise says, either individually or as a nation, we will receive the reward. GOD is a covenant-keeping GOD! Just the fact that the nation of Israel exists proves that GOD exists, and that HIS Word is true and relevant for today.

How can the people of israel be so stupid as to choose ariel sharon as the leader of their country. he is a murderous, savage war-monger and he doesn't deserve to be recognised as any kind of leader. he takes pleasure in the murder of palestinians and uses the excuse "they were suspected terrorists". the only true terrorist in this conflict is old ariel himself. the palestinians are fighting for the homeland they were deprived of when the jews arrived and if sacraficing their own lives to get this homeland then it really shows how desperately they want a homeland.

Here is a man who, like Ehud Barak, is a decorated soldier and one of Israel's better-known public figures. Like Barak, he is very sensitive to the needs of Israel's concerns, most notably a strong sense of security. He is a strong believer in parliamentary democracy, provided it suits Likud's and the right-wing wacko's agenda (not unlike that of the late Meir Kahane and Baruch Goldstein, the fanatical American-born Israeli nationalists whose dream of Eretz Yisra'el would exclude all who weren't Orthodox Israelis). Lest we forget, this is the same man who helped launch Israel's June 1982 invasion of Lebanon to eliminate the PLO and set up an Israeli buffer zone to protect Israeli settlements in southern Lebanon (they were later forcibly evacuated) and in the Golan Heights, which was never Israeli or Palestinian territory to begin with---it belonged to Syria prior to 1973. Sharon's reasons were for Israel's protection, to be sure, but to defend one's country and massacre innocent Palest... Read more

This is clearly the time of the parable of the fig tree whereby the nation of Israel is torn between two leaders, one good fig and one bad fig. I wish to remind all who can read - to read with understanding what the lord God of Israel has planned in our immediate future, and to stay working in the field when the rest of the world whores after the spurious messiah who will arrive as nations close in around Israel. It is time beloved. Let us watch and wait patiently this decade for after the 5 months of the false one we will rejoice in song - the song of Moses and Emanuel will reign forever. Amen.

Worst than Netanyahu! Now Israel is bombing and even planting bombs on the Palestinians - he has (again after Liban) turned his country into a terrorist state! Israel deserves better. By the way, why not give the Palestinians back their own? (It's not Israel's, so it should be nothing to them - Bible says more about values than borders)
