i have a 1 year old dogo named kaiser, that just crested the 100lb mark . i also have a 8 yr old daughter thats only 60lbs. my house is the "kool-aid" house of the block, on any given afternoon there are several diferent childeren from 5yrs to 12yrs that come and play with my daughter. my dogo loves kids! he is the most docile dog i have ever owned/been around. it took the neighborhood parents a little getting used to but they quickly realized what a gentle giant kaiser is, to the extent that one actually caught him and kept him in her backyard when my daughter left the gate open while we went shopping. i am constantley amazed at his protective nature towards childeren, not just mine but all in general. he will position himself between them and the road, he is a great jungle gym for one particular little girl who lives across the street, she is 3 and loves to crawl on him and play with his ears, poke his eyes, pull his tail, with no reaction other than tail wagging. he is very rambunct... I have a dogo argentino and he is a gentle giant. He was abused by bad people and yet he still has it within him to trust. He is my big baby. He is very smart and walks really well with me. He also thinks that everyone loves him :). People who meet him fall in love with him right away. My mother who has not ever been a dog lover, loves this guy. He is very gentle with her and even with children. He seems to know that his size can be intimidating. Again, it's the owner, not the dog. In his past his first owner tried to make him mean and couldn't. Apparently the hunting trait has been bred out of most of these breeds and they have been bred to be domesticated.

These are the one of the most intelligent breed , all it takes is to read and research for you that commented earlier , yes it was bred to hunt , so 86 other breeds , they all make a good companion pet its all up to the breeder/owner, Dogo Argentino has a very stable temperament...The creators of the breed stated " that the correct Dogo temperament should reflect their rare contrast between extraordinary courage and incredible kindness of character. The creators went on to say, The Dogo is the most docile and mild of the hunting dogs and without a doubt, not even lap dogs have the kindness and patience to withstand the teasing that he can take from children. And just to prove more about its intelligence ....that is one of a very few breeds that known for blind guiding.
