Mon Apr 06 2009This perfectly located cinema is one of my favorite in all of L.A. They always are showing the movies I want to see and there's a lot of fun places around to go after. Club Sushi anyone?

Thu Apr 02 2009The Arc Light cinemas are the best in L.A. especially in Hollywood. I just love the area because its surrounded by all these architecturally splendid buildings and great eateries like Club Sushi. I think a salmon roll and a ticket to see the Fast and the Furious may be the highlight of my weekend.

Thu Apr 02 2009Arclight offers the best movie-watching experience for any movie-buff. Though the $12 and up ticket prices are a little steep, they're totally worth it for reserved plush comfortable seats, a clean theater, a great choice of movies, and a fantastic projection system. I come here to watch the big blockbuster movies for the most cinematic experience. I'm going to watch Fast and Furious here soon. Just look for the giant sphere dome near Amoeba music and Club Sushi and you'll find the popular and suave Arclight theater.

Sun Mar 22 2009At first I was a little skeptic of paying higher prices for assigned seating...but I most admit it's never been a problem getting into the movie that I want! It's definitely a movie to take a "first" date...

Tue Oct 28 2008This place is expensive around $4 more than a regular theater, but you can pick your seats ahead of time and the place is very well taken care of. I saw Sweeney Todd here and they had some costumes from the movie on display in the lobby. How cool! You can also see certain shows where you can drink a cocktail from the bar while you watch. thats always a good thing.

Mon Sep 01 2008I love coming here, first of all, you can buy your seats in advance and choose where you want to sit, which means never standing in line!! Second, they don't have any commercials, just previews, so you're not seating in the theater for over 20 minutes. They have really good snacks and food. The only reason I can't give them a five star is because they're so freaking expensive!!

Wed Jul 09 2008In Short Come early and browse through the gift shop, grab a bite in the full-service cafe or sip a cocktail at the bar. There's no need to rush, because Arclight provides reserved seating. And, mind you, these aren't ordinary seats--plush recliners offer three extra inches of seating space, super-wide armrests and plenty of legroom. Suited ushers guide you to your seat and introduce each screening with a short speech.

Wed Jul 09 2008In Short This bustling bistro and bar offers a side of ambiance to whet your appetite for munchies and a movie. Located conveniently inside the ArcLight Cinemas, the capacious cafe goes above and beyond your typical popcorn and candy fare with specialties like the signature chicken black bean chili, sweet corn tamales and a half-pound certified Angus beef burger. Wash a wonderful meal down with an ArcLight Hollywood martini before or after a film to make an evening truly terrific.

Wed Jun 18 2008From first visit, you will fall in love with the Arclight Cinemas. You park close to the theaters in the well lit, comfortable garage. Quick elevator ride to the lobby level and you are on your way to the theaters. You could already have your "RESERVED" seats tickets purchased online. You can use one of the many kiosks outside on the wall or you can walk in and buy your tickets from a real person not hidden behind 7 inches of glass. But, wait. Once you walk into the lobby - do you want a drink or dinner? That is off to the right at their full bar and restaurant. Or, do you have time to wander through the very entertaining and well stocked gift shop/bookstore. Okay. You finally got your tickets now you have a few moments to wander around. Take a look at the latest art exhibit along the walls. Time for the movie? Pick up popcorn with real butter. A Smoked Apple Chicken Sausage instead of a boring hot dog and you are all set. No irritating commercials. Perfect sound. Perfe... Read more

Thu May 15 2008I don't go here on a regular basis because of how expensive tickets are, but this is the place to go if you want your movie outing to be more special than usual. Beautiful decor, cool displays once in a while (e.g. actual costumes from movies), interesting photographs adorning the walls, and fantastic gourmet popcorn. They have a great selection of movies but plan ahead - there's a limited amount of showings and the times are pretty spread out. I like having our seats picked out beforehand so there's no hassle of finding seats once we get there, but we're always careful to get there early since there are no previews and they don't let people in after the movie starts.

Sat Feb 09 2008Plan ahead when you want to see a film at the Arc light! This theater is only 4 miles from my home, but if I don't know by 5 pm which movie I want to see I don't even bother. Tickets for many mid evening shows are often sold out (or you are sitting directly in front of the screen) hours before the show time. If you do get a ticket, good luck parking. STESSFUL!!! As mentioned in other reviews, they will not seat you past a certain time. It can take up to 20 minutes to get into the parking structure and find a spot! No kidding! Leaving the structure can take time too. That said, all of the positive reviews about the theater itself are ABSOLUTELY TRUE! The employees here are the best! I don't know how they find so many cool, friendly, even funny people to work at a movie theater. The screens and audio set up are the best. I saw Sweeny Todd there and am convinced that the theater made the movie even better. So, go to the Arc light, but plan ahead a bit, or see an early movie... Read more

Sun Dec 30 2007It is official. I can't see a movie anywhere else now. Nowhere in the city can you get a "civilized "movie-going experience like you can at Arclight Hollywood. I went to the Grove and Chinese 6 recently to see films that weren't screening at Arclight and the experience there was horrid -- patrons either wouldn't stop talking, they'd keep getting up and down during the "slow parts" of the film and at the Chinese 6 there was almost an altercation because one patron told another to "shhhh" and the offender shouted back "no body tells me what to do" until security finally came in to remove the offender. The Grove bathrooms, while nice are one big P*ss Fest during weekends -- it is just gross in there -- the staff can't mop and wipe fast enough. 99.99% of the time my experience at Arclight is great --- the patrons are more respectful of each other, there are NO frigggin commercials(and no lame Coke Film Quizzes), the seats are comfy -- reserved seats are the best thing ever, the sound a... Thu Oct 18 2007REASON 1: I spent 1 hour driving to Arclight from the West Side, only to be greeted by ?LOT FULL? sign. REASON 2: As a result of not being able to park in the theater lot, I had to drive 2 blocks away in Friday traffic to park in an expensive valet lot. REASON 3: The 2-block drive in Friday traffic, and the walk (run) back to the theater, added 10+ minutes to my travel. And though I bought my tickets in advance to ensure I?d have a seat, I was refused entry because I got to there after the previews started ? due to the fact that Pacific's lot can?t accommodate all of its customers and I had to park 2 blks away. Though Pacific claims to care about its ?customer experience?, which its staff repeatedly uttered like automatons in attempting to explain why I (and the other frustrated guests at my side) weren?t going to be let into the movie, it?s clear that Pacific actually only cares about the experience of a portion of their customers ? namely, those lucky enough to par... Sun Jul 08 2007Movie theatres in Hollywood have gotten pretty good recently and the Arclight is one of the best. It doesn't have the greatest decor nor does it have the fastest service (check out my other reviews for recommendations there) but it is special because of the fact that it has reserved seating via online reservations. The rewards program is pretty good too for frequent moviegoers. The parking deck lines up on the way out at the pay booths, but parking is a generic problem one way or another with all the Hollywood theatres. The Arclight Dome is a must choice if you're only going to go once, tourist-like. All the seats are good, even the front row, which sits back quite a ways from the screen. Plan on lines at the concession stand though, so give yourself time, even if you're just going to any of the basic theatres, not just the Dome. They often have movie set/costume pieces for big blockbuster showings, so that's interesting. Overall, I like this place and make it a regular destina... Read more

Tue May 29 2007For as much as I pay to see a film at Arclight ($14 on Fridays) I expect to watch my film in a pristine setting. I pay this much because I am serious about the film I am about to watch. Unfortunately, Arclight staff are either unwilling or unable to provide me with the "luxury experience" they promise. I went to a showing of BU G last Friday night where phones were ringing, people were talking at full volume, and babies were crying ( why are infants even allowed in an 11 PM screening of a horror film on a Friday night????). I even went so far as to miss a large section of the film while I tracked down several ushers and then BEGGED them to come in and shush some of the talkers. That helped for exactly five minutes before the people went right back to their loud conversations. The ushers never bothered to check in again. This was only one of many bad experiences I have had at Arclight. If I want to be around rude people, I'll visit my local AMC. But when I visit the most high tech, luxu... Read more

Wed May 02 2007Arclight is probably one of best movie theaters in LA. The movie sound quality was crisp clear and no bumps on the screen... (God, I hate those bumps on the movie screen! They look like gigantic pimples and can totally ruin the movie experiences) The staffs were polite and helpful. The Cafe serves good food. (Bf and I had 2 main dishes and one appetizer costed about $36) Lobby has a nice design. Restroom is clean and has cool faucets... anyway, It's a pleasant place to be at Wednesday night... The ticket was $11 per person so it's not bad at all. I was very happy with my bf who took me there...

Fri Apr 06 2007Three things really distinguish this place -- no commercials in front of your movie, assigned seating, good projection and sound quality. There is also a high staff to customer ratio. The cons are if you want to just walk up, you often don't seat where you want to. The best way to enjoy this place is to buy your seat on line in advance, so you can select your own seat.

Mon Feb 19 2007I initially thought the reserved seating ticketing was kind of pointless, but I guess it makes the whole movie-going experience a bit more formal. Also, it's nice to know that you don't have to show up at the theater extra early to find good seats or even to get tickets for that matter. The area around the theater also has some good restaurants and Amoeba music store so you have something to do either before/after movie-viewing. Though the tickets are a bit pricey, Arclight offers a unique experience for the average movie-goer.

Thu Feb 08 2007I love this theatre... like the reviewers say, for a couple extra dollars you have your seat guaranteed. The restaurant on the premises serves good food (try the burgers) and decently priced wine. Let the servers know what time your movie starts, and they'll make sure you're in on time. BUT, make sure you get to the theatre on time. Tickets ARE NOT SOLD after 5 minutes, as I learned last time I was there. They really won't let you in, even if they have tickets.

Mon Feb 05 2007The theater experience is the best in LA. At first I hated to have to reserve seating - it not only grew on me but I love it!!! I was beaing cheap at first and said it was to expensive, but for only a couple of dollars more than the average theater you get big, clean theaters with great screen view, no sound bleeding, very clean bathrooms. Very rarely any screaming kids - thanks to the pricing policy. Adults going to the theater and having a great time. Top notch movie expereince every time (except when they run out of my caramel corn). Did I mention: I love the caramel corn made fresh there - sometimes it is warm! I know about 10 people working there, they are nice guys. But some of the people who work there need some customer service training. I found the management to be almost robotic in responding to a customer service complaint I had with one oif their ticket agents. The theater outweighs the iffy customer service. It is my personal nieghborhood theater. Oh yeah, they... Read more

Fri Feb 02 2007Way better than The Grove. Audiences behave like grown ups. There is also an AMAZING vintage furnature store, THE JUNK MARKET, a block North (walking distace) on Selma. Hollywood is finally a place you can walk. I recommend, buying your tickets early and stopping by The Junk Market. Youll feel like you are in New York!

Mon Dec 11 2006This is definitely my theater of choice. Whenever I am aaked by a date where I want to go to see a movie, I ALWAYS pick this place. The seating is awesome. Always clean, staff is great, and the cafe is a great spot to catch a bit to eat. Plus, it's within walking distance of my favorite restaurant, Magnolia, and my favorite club, Boulevard3. So, I can leave the car here after the movie and catch a bite to eat or go crazy dancing. It's perfect!

Thu Nov 23 2006Good luck getting in and out of the parking lot in a reasonable amount of time on a Saturday night. Still, Arclight is the best theater in town, with clean theaters, a bar upstairs, and a very decent restaurant on the first level. I have to make mention of the restaurant as it's something very special. When you first sit down, your waiter asks what time your film is. Since you have reserved seats, you can eat right up until a few minutes before your screening, and the food is very good! I love this place!
by smooph13b87a
Sun Nov 12 2006Really, it's the best place to see a movie in LA. The reserved seating makes the higher price worth it, the cafe is decent and usually you can get a seat even if it's a busy Friday, people that come here don't talk as much during the movie (although I've noticed more of this lately, it's not your living room, people!) and the caramel corn is truly divine. The only thing is somehow I always manage to pick the very slowest concessions line...

Tue Sep 12 2006My favorite theater. It is expensive, but with your free membership you are constantly accruing points that result in free movie tickets or snacks. They have exclusive showings, offer movies where adults 21 and over can enjoy cocktails. You get to pick your seats, validated parking and great movie choices and times. Because they have a restaurant and bar you dont even mind waiting for the next movie time if you arrived too late. By far, the best theater and well worth the $11 ticket.

Mon Sep 04 2006simply the best. most comfortable, easiest, best atmosphere. other theaters have different charm, but arclight is the best.

Tue Aug 15 2006The Archlight is a really great movie theater experience. For a couple of bucks more than a movie at a theater chain, you can experience the Arclight. There's a bar in the theater. There's the Cinerama dome. The theaters themselves are huge and modern and great. You get an assigned seat in a theater designed for comfort and maximum enjoyment. I probably wouldn't come her for just any movie, but for something special, it's worth every cent. Convenient, safe parking is attached to the theater complex. With theater validation, you pay a paltry $2 for 4 hours. I've come here with co-workers several times over the past few years and haven't had a bad experience yet.

Sun May 07 2006i could go to the local AMC or Edwards, but all the high school kids get so roudy and rude. Here at the Arclight i'll pay an extra $4 per person for a much more quiet, curtious crowd. The seats are not leather like The Bridge, but still comfortable. I never had a problem w/ screen or sound quality either. Getting your parking ticket validated can be a battle. try to find other areas to have your ticket validated other than the front door, where it can take 5 minutes to validate. You have amoeba records and the borders across the street (location, location, location). So go here if you're willing to pay an extra $4 a head for the convenience and comfort. Other than that, i can live w/ AMC and Edwards.

Sun Feb 19 2006There are few differences in the Archlight from any other stadium theatre. 1>ticket prices are MUCH higher. 2>parking is expensive and difficult. 3>they serve alcohol and patrons are intoxicated. 4> They force you to show your ticket a minimum of 4 times, twice after you already get in the theatre. Try it with an armload of refreshments! 5>reserved seating only allows for many many inconsiderate people to come in after the movie has started. 6>Whats with the stupid announcements made from the floor, that you CANNOT hear, of someone welcoming you to the theatre??? 7>you can go to any other stadium theatre and get matinee pricing as well as a better, less arrogant, atmosphere.

Sun Dec 11 2005This place is run with arrogance and ignorance. A higher class of patrons, no way. Just the same annoying people paying more. I've had to leave early more often than not because someone was kicking the back of my seat, and the staff does not look out for this. The "best popcorn in LA" was mostly broken pieces and unpopped kernels last time I was there. Carmelcorn? $3 for Cracker Jacks! Sausage Baguettes? A Hot Dog by any other name... The pre-show announcements are either unnecessarily verbose, pathetic attempts to be funny, or just plain awkward. The seats are feel like upholstered rocks, wider but not cushy. Have you ever actually tried to get a live person on the phone there? This is just a decent multiplex trying to be percieved as a premium experience, but they are not willing or capable enough to actually make it the best.

Fri Nov 04 2005Amoeba Records across the street! This is a great way to spend a day/evening. Every November, AFI Fest takes over the Arclight, giving you a chance to catch some new releases (saw the 'Fog of War' and 'Man on the Train' there- we got response cards to fill out). The Dome is fine, but I admit I dig the black boxes AND the enforcement of the no-cell phone/no talking rule. When you pay that kind of money, you shouldn't have to put up with that crap, sez I. It's also not far from the subway station at Hollywood/Vine.

Wed Jun 15 2005Arclight is more than a theater, it is a shrine to humanity! The viewing experience in unrivaled (all theaters exceed THX sight and sound certification), the staff is friendly and helpfull, and they even have a restraunt/cafe/bar to catch a meal before your film. The reserved seating could be considered annoying at times, at least untill you stroll into a sold out 9:00 pm movie a few minutes before it starts and are kindly shown to your seats by a helpfull usher!

Thu Mar 24 2005The Arclight is a great theater - big, comfortable seats, huge screens, good sound - everything you could ask for. It is a little of a hassle to get to since Hollywood traffic really sucks at night - but if you're in the area - it's worth a visit. The tickets are a little expensive.

Tue Sep 07 2004Arclight is terrific. They charge a fair amount of bucks, but not THAT much more than regular movies on a Sat night, so if it is a perfect experience go for it. The dome is cool, but only for more expansive or action movies. Also the dome is too loud. I don't know if it was just the movie we saw (Hero) but it was so loud it hurt sometimes. I attribute this to the dome's acoustics. Gift shop, exhibits, staff are all great.

Mon May 31 2004If you love movies, and the typical movie-going crowds really annoy you with their late-coming, candy wrapper-rattling, talking back to the screen, cell phone-ringing behavior, then try the ArcLight. I will no longer go anywhere else in LA to see a movie (except art theatres). Latecomers are barred from entering the movie after it has started, ushers stay in the theater for a few minutes after the movie starts to check the sound and picture quality and to make sure the crowd doesn't get rowdy, there's a strict policy on not allowing children to R-rated performances, you get super comfortable assigned seats. The employees are actually intelligent movie-lovers themselves (not bored 16 year olds goofing off while making minimum wage) The bathrooms are always immaculate, the concessions are reasonably priced, there are 4 hours of free parking, and Amoeba is right next door. It is SO worth the 14 dollars.
