Archie Bunker (All in the Family)

He was actually a good guy underneath the gruff exterior and the mild bigotry. Also if he were alive today, I bet even he would have thought that George W. Bush is a pussy.

he may have been all those other things but the one positive thing about archie bunker was he loved his little girl. everytime gloria would get that upset look on her face and she'd cry daddy you know she was going to get her way.

According to a lot of people I knew, Archie actually turned up in a lot of households. My father died before this era but I'm happy to say that he was nothing like Archie. For all his dumb remarks, he still had a few endearing qualities. For instance, I don't know WHAT kept him from tossing his son in law out into the cold. There were many times when I wanted to slap old Meathead to sleep. How is it someone who always has all the answers can't figure out how to fill out a job application? You had to have some sympathy for Archie having to put up with a constant flow of self righteous bile coming at him day and night under his own roof.

A grouch, a bigot,sure, but when it came to his daugther he loved her very much.

Why should he be rated so low? He loved his daughter so much that he allowed her to move her argumentative husband into their home. He loved her so much that he allowed that Meathead to live there even though Meathead NEVER worked and criticized every single one of Archie's core beliefs all day long for six years. Meathead is the most pompus leech of all time, and the so-called bully Archie Bunker let him walk all over him because of Archie's LOVE for his daughter. If that's not love than i don't know what is.
