Anolon Advanced 15-Piece Knife Block Set

Have used many knife sets over the years, some more expensive than these. Was very pleased with how sharp they were out of the box. (I am used to sharpening knives immediately -- before using -- as factory efforts are never comparable to what we can, with care and the right tools, do at home.) When it comes to sharpness, I am a sharpening fool: water cooled 10" sharpening wheel and all. My wife, on the other hand, is not so obsessed. And, she was very impressed with these knives as soon as we opened the box and started using them. And, after some use, they are holding their edge. The balance of the chef's kitchen knife (along with others) is such that they also have a pleasing feel when in hand. Have not attempted to resharpen yet. But, given the steel they are advertised to be comprised of, should be fine. Steak knives, not something I wanted (but, my wife had other views), are a delight. Love the weight and feel of these knives! I feel very confident when using them that they are not going to slip out of my hands because of the great grips!

I bought these knives for my wife because are old set just were not staying sharp. These knives are very sharp. I will tell you again, these knives are very sharp. The handles have a good grip to them and I am taking the advice of the manufacture, wash them by hand and not in the dishwasher. With proper care and sharpening them after every use, these knives will last for a long time. Also the block that the knives come in is very well crafted...

I bought these for my wife for Christmas. She is a culinary nut, but I am not and was worried about buying something I know little about. I bought these because of the reviews on Amazon and when she opened the present she was ecstatic and said they were the exact ones she would have chosen...YES...finally got something right!!! They are very nice; the handles are exceptional and even fit my hand...she uses them daily and hasn't asked me to sharpen any of them since she got them.

I placed my order on Jan.18, 2009. The Analon knife set that I received is exactly as pictured, with the black handles on the steak knives. I am happy with this set. I like the handles, they are very comfortable in my hands. I wear a size 7 glove. I only wish it came with a smaller knife, like a 5" chef's or santuku. The big 8 inch knives are great, but sometimes I have smaller things to cut and don't need the granddaddy of all knives to do it with....
