NBC made a big mistake promoting Ann Curry. Her stand in, Savanna Guthrie would have been a MUCH better choice.

NBC overlooked Ann Curry twice for the job for a reason. She is a news reader. She lacks personality, sense of humor and the ability to interview. I have always watched the Today Show and can no longer. Each morning I turn it on and listen to Matt Lauer deliver the headlines and then Ann starts stumbling over everything, tries to be spontaneous and click! She cannot ask a question in less than 25 words! She asks a question by asking it with what she thinks will be the answer. She is irritating and everyone I know is no longer watching the Today Show. How long will NBC lose viewers before they realize she is not anchor material?

Saw Ann Curry this morning interviewing the woman whose ex-husband's wife placed a sex ad in Craigslist and gave the woman's real address and phone number....AWFUL interview...Ann Curry seems to have lost her mojo. Does not know how to ad lib (end of interview was just stupid) and often seems uncomfortable in her new role. Think Natalie Morales would have made a better choice.

She is OK once in a while just reading the evening news. That's it. You have to take her off the Today show. I change the channel whenever she interviews someone or talks. The problem is everyone else on the show is great.

Oh man, am I glad that I found this page. For awhile, I thought I was the only person who thought Ann Curry was the worst reporter/interviewer ever. I watch the Today show every morning and she really irks me when I listen to her. Her interviewing skills are so terrible that I have to mute my TV until she's done. After watching her interview with BP's COO, I had to see if anyone else had the same view about her. Sure enough, I'm not the only one!

I find it very painful to watch and listen to Ann Curry. One would have thought with her "years of practice" on the Today Show, she would have improved in her profession. Sadly, she gets worse as the years go by. She speaks too fast, she stumbles over simple words, her enunciation has become pathetic. And the producers should NEVER let her ad lib. If she is doing cold reads when reading the teleprompter, perhaps she should come into work an hour earlier and have the producers and writers work with her news reading skills. Sadly there is nowhere else to turn in morning broadcast programs. Harry Smith over at CBS is even more annoying as is Robin Roberts at GMA. How I would love to consult one of the networks and help assemble an "all-star" team.

She constantly fumbles her words and cannot speak. Ann Curry is ALWAYS messing up what she is trying to say. It is getting really annoying. For as much as she is being paid, you would think she would be able to do her job properly and read off of a card! She really needs to work on not messing up her words so much. Very unprofessional!

Ann Curry is the worst interviewer on the air. She never allows those she is interviewing to talk. She tries to sound sincere, but it comes of insincere. She does not educate herself on the interview. Whenever I watch her, I get uncomfortable and change the channel. I cannot watch her, whenever she fills in for Meredith, I do not watch. She definitely needs to come off the air. I do not understand why NBC insists on keeping her.

What is up with her? Why does she always feel that it's okay for her to touch people. I remember watching her do an interview with Brad Pitt and she was touching his face and carrying on. WTF is wrong with her. Just now I finish watching her and she leaned her head down on Matt's shoulder. Does this lady not realize that she is on TV and this type of behavior is inappropriate. I can't stand her as a TV host and I will be glad when she's gone.

I agree, Ann Curry is painful to watch. She constantly misspeaks, interrupts and keeps hitting and touching people inappropriately (not just Brad Pitt). Keep her behind the newsdesk reading the teleprompter. Keep her away from interviewees and hosting. I have to turn her off she so obnoxious.

My husband and I can't stand her. NBC should kick her to the plaza curb. She is a terrible interviewer, news caster and she is not funny at all. She is over bearing and over talks others when she should just keep her mouth shut. We often think about switching to CBS but then just leave the room until she is done. ..

I beg NBC to kick Ann off of the Today show. Her interviewing skills are that of a high school yearbook staff person, her time filling 'banter' is atrocious and non-sensicle and she seems to have the depth of a loogie that Bubba spit out 4 miles ago on a 105 degree day. There is no worse way to start my day than hearing her voice. She is distracting and detracts from the actual credibility of the reporting that is on at 6 a.m. I love Matt, Al, Meredith, Natalie, Lester, and the weekend Blonde that's on..even the money chick that filled in for Meredith one week.. NO MORE ANN. I get nauseous hearing her voice over the Cialis commercials..or whatever drug...i don't care because i hear her voice and tune out. ICKKKKKK. NBC please-Please put her on late late late night or any newscast prior to 5:00 AM. I go to bed at 10 and I don't get up till 5:30, 6:00 am.. Thanks!

I find Ann to be engaging. Even her apparent "attacking" positoin wiht pastor Rick Warren was done to spark a dabate type response, I think she was taking an adversarial postion as a (literal in this case) devil's advocate. I find her very expressive in her eyes, especially, and she connects well with and interview subject and me the viewer. She is also very attractive.

Ann Curry is the worst news reporter on TV. Her interview w/ Rick Warren was horrible. It was like she was blaently picking a fight w/ him. I thought reporters were suppose to try and be impartial. She asked him a question relating to gay rights. As Warren reponded w/ "let me explain why", Curry barked at him "Why!!!! Tell me why!!!!". I totally surprised the network didn't edit that part out. Curry comes across as a novice. Can we send her back to some local TV station?

Your interview with Pastor Rick Warren was disturbing to say the least. Your deep hate for the man and what he stands for was very evident. I am quite happy to inform you that Mr.Obama's opinion of Marriage is exactly the same as Mr.Warren's, review his interview with the President Elect and you'll see. I'm sure you won't be quite as mean spirted with Mr.Obama as you were with Mr.Warren. That is if you ever get the chance to interview our new President, which I sincerely doubt.

This is great. I agree, its is soooo uncomfortable watching her interview folks. Especially stars like Brad Pitt, she acts likes she's best friends with them, but she comes off as some stalker. You know how when you watch kids in interviews how unsettling it is, that's how I feel every time Ann talks!! Don't get me wrong I really hate Ann (as well as Oprah), but she doesn't seem as bad on Dateline. Did anyone else notice that she's slightly different on Dateline? If I hear her do "ummm" during an interview, i'm gonna puke my breakfast oatmeal!!

Tonight I lost all respect for you! I was a steadfast fan of your style and assumed integrity. I saw a piece tonight you anchored on handicapped underprivileged and the resource starved patience and "inmates" and workers of Serbia's mental health wards. But to any one with an incling of intelligence it was clearly a propaganda piece meant to be pathetically tied into the "CRISIS" in Georgia. I don't know if you received cold hard cash or will simply read any thing on a teleprompter in front of you but you went from journalist to apologist with that sad piece tonight! Why don't you do an equally revealing story on the state of American health care and it's short comings or are you not allowed to?

It's easy to blow holes in a newsperson's persona given the level of exposure they face daily. That said, I can't think of anyone who makes me shudder more than Ann Curry. In my opinion, she's good at the newsdesk where the material is scripted. She has NO business doing interviews or subbing for Vierra or Lauer. She is just too sappy, plainly exerting herself to EXTRACT the emotional response where it is not naturally forthcomming, as if to demonstrate sensitivity, when in fact she needs to 'leave a tender moment alone'. This stuff KILLS me, at times, to the point where I have to leave the room!

I stumble upon this website while researching news media and I can't believe all the dumbasses in a row! To get to the level Ann Curry has takes more work and schooling than any of you "geniousses" have ever attempted. Stop critisizing a top level professional and buy yourselves a freakin pet or something!

It was embarassing to watch her today interviewing Meryl Streep. Anne looked like a black spider perched on her stool grasping for something to hold onto with her wild gestures and hunched shoulders. Not to mention her strangled sentences which were not articulated. I don't think Ms. Streep got to say much but was rather a dignified (I would have started laughing at Anne) listener at all that babble...."how do you sing or where did that come from..." What a totally dumb and stupid thing to say to an actress who actually probably could have made many more interesting comments about the movie and where she is in life. Anne, honey, you blew it again. Stick to going to war torn countries with no body guard.

I totally agreed! Why is she even on air? Stumbling and stuttering is ok for most of us, BECAUSE we are not in the media presenting the news or interviewing others! Shame on NBC for letting her stay on for so long, she had her chance and has only gotten worse, please, please get her off air. Another gripe: Why can't Meredith SIT UP STRAIGHT??? Everytime she is in an armchair, she slouches sideways, and I have to explain to 4 yo that slouching is a no no!

Okay, I hate to say it, but here goes: I get the feeling Ann Curry is gleeful when reporting tragedies. She seems too cheery to be taken seriously on the "hard" news stories. I realize that network news is full of creampuff, pretty boy/girl, so-called "journalists" and they're chasing ratings. But Ann Curry annoys the hell out of me. There, I've said it. Sorry, Ann Curry. I wish you'd go do a kids' show or game show.

Listening to Ann is painful. I've been wondering for years if it was just me and was so grateful to find this website this morning (when Meredith is off). Do we have any way of hoping that Today Show execs. might read our comments? I have watched the Today show since @ 1978 and have struggled to put up with Ann for years. Even her 'reading' of the news is unacceptable: mispronouncing words, stumbling over text, etc. And interviews, forget it: It just happened again with Jean Chatzky, at 8:45 a.m, 3/10/08 "Wa cho via" NOT "Wakovia" OMG!!!! Thanks to you all for letting me vent!

Listening to Ann Curry feels about as good as hearing nails scratching a blackboard. Her fake sad faces, schoolmarm clothes and ratty hair makes me wonder what the Today show is thinking. I always get the feeing that she doesn't care a bit about her interviewees and only wants as much face time on TV as possible. If only an Orca ate her when she was in the Antratica.

Ann Curry annoys me so much I feel compelled to write about it. She is constantly shouting and pushing her way to the middle of the conversation. She is trying so hard that sometimes it becomes a scream fest on the today show. I can't understand one word they are saying. It just sounds like blah, blah, blah, blah. She has that fake way of leaning into someone so she looks compassionate. I've always enjoyed watching the today show but it's getting out of hand. Why do they need 5 people talking at one time? This just starts my day off in a stressful way. I agree with most of the people here. Please get this woman off the air!

In America the cream should rise to the top, however that's not the case on the today show. Ann Curry is most assuredly the worst interviewer that NBC could have hired. The purpose of an interview is to learn what the interviewee thinks, Ann does not ask questions that are helpful in getting information. Ann tries to screw the interviewee over for a possible sound bite, that's not news.
