The concept should be familiar: You move to a town populated by animals. You need to pay off your house loan to merchant Tom Nook in order to get a bigger house (which you will need quickly). Dig for fossils and money, collect fish and bugs. Join as your town celebrates different holidays and seasons. Collect playable NES-games and befriend animals. Today the controls will seem old fashioned, for instance you can only sell one item at a time to Nook, and there is less space in your closet. But the game play is the same as in the DS and WII versions. My only complaint is that the Gamecube town (like the WII town) is a little hard to navigate through, especially when you are trying to shake all the trees. That's a very small issue, though. Animal Crossing is a great game. Recommended.

This Game was awesome! It is my Favorite game ever! But, That is my style. This game is unlike any other game I have ever seen before. See, in this game there is no game over. It is rather a peaceful game were you get up. Do a little fishing. talk to your neighbors maybe help them out a little. participate in events decorate your house and so much much more. In fact the things to do seem never ending! Wile this might seem boring It is not. The whole game is run on a clock meaning that if you set the date right the seasons will fallow are seasons and some of the holidays. But I would suggest the newer versions. P.S.It is more fun once you get into it. Don't give up after the first two weeks. Maybe a month would do it. But I had fun the entire time

This game is probably one of the best game I've ever played. And here's why... Whenever I play this, I get really nostalgic. I remembered I used to play it until midnight when I was younger. But that's not the main reason... There's always something to do in this game. And when I say always, I mean it. In fact, I sometimes find myself as having a bit too much to do. What you do in Animal Crossing is not like many other games; no, there is no fighting, no missions, no gore, no violence whatsoever, nothing... stressful. In this game, it's just utter relaxation and calmness the whole time you play. There are alot of things to do, such as fishing, digging for fossils, catching bugs, cutting down trees (just make sure you plant another one after you cut it down~) donating to the museum, talking to your neighbors, decorating your house, doing favors for villagers, participating in events or holidays (Like Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, etc.) making your town perfect, making a... Almost every person with a GC has played this game before. It is similar to harvest moon but this game never ends. If u have played the one on the DS it is simalir but the graphics r a bit better for the houses and people on this one. Even though all of the animal crossings r about the same for some reason this one is different. It could be the acres unstead of just a world shape or the fact that u can go to a different island. U can also hook up ur GB and do things on it. Even though all the animal crossings r almost the same this one is different. This is in my top 5 favorite GC game.

I really have no idea why anyone would rate this lower than 4 stars. This game is full of simplicity and having your own world. It has no plot and that's what makes it fun. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against games with plots, but think about it. What about when those games end? That's it. It ends. But with Animal Crossing, it keeps going. There's neighbors, jobs to do, fishing, bug catching, collecting fossils, decorating your house, and filling up the museum. Not to mention the holidays and the rare items given out by visitors. There's always SOMETHING to do. Harvest Moon somewhat has a plot. But it cannot be compared to Animal Crossing. No game can.

In a way it's similar to The Sims. You make friends, friends move away, each friend has a unique personality, you buy items, you sell items, and you make "bells" to pay off your house. You also get to fish, catch bugs, and dig up items. There are a lot of fun things to do in the game. My favorite feature is discovering new fish, bugs, paintings, and fossils to donate to the museum. (I've donated all the fossils, though.) Once you've donated everything, paid off your house completely, gotten all of your friends to trust you, designed and placed all of your fashions in the shop, decorated your house, and helped out the town of Boondox, there isn't much left to do and the game gets boring. Unless you want to play often just to pull weeds, make bells, continue to re-decorate your home, and do favors for your friends as well as random strangers who pass by your town, and play with your friends via DS to DS or Wi-Fi.

They have an Amsterdam coffee shop(where they serve soft drugs), a raccoon who extorts money from you, and the always entertaining love triangle between three pelicans. However, It could get boring fast if you don't have Wi-Fi.

It's a great game for a while but after a while it gets boring. I did everything i need to do and i occasionally play but then remember I have A TON of weeds to pull when I do. But overall a game worth playing.

I agree that this is a fun game but and get boring real quick.  I'm just now into the summer and finding more bugs and fish.  I do wonder why I can't talk to the other people in town the way they can talk to me.  I also don't know anyone that has Wi-Fi like I do so I can't invite anyone to my town :(

One of the best DS games out there. And possibly ever. The animals are more complex (personality wise),the dialogue is more varied, and Gracie is still the evilist creature in the game. You get to choose where your house is,and it gets a hell of a lot bigger because of more expansions. The hats from the first game are gone for the most part (Now the boy characters don't look like they have horns!Yay),/AND/ you get to change your hair colour and style once you get Nookington's. Yes.
