Go with New Life Recovery center in San Jose Kevin Richardson is the Director, More expensive, but you get what you pay for. This Rehab is the worst kind of snakepit. The staff is very under-educated, unprofessional, and consists completely of reformed (really?) addicts with little or no training. I have seen this Rehab from the inside, and was appalled. There were clients getting high in the Rehab, slipping out at night to met their significant other, stealing from each other, getting aggressive to the point of violence, and hooking up (i.e. screwing in the bathroom, the basement wherever they could get a bit of privacy) Worst of all the staff was dishonest to the point of using very questionable tactics to "help you get it". They would exaggerate and catastrophize small occurrences into a major infraction to then use to threaten the clients with expulsion. This strategy was used with almost every client, and virtually on a daily basis to get them to straighten up a... Read more

This is a 5 star treatment program with a cost anyone can afford. Unfortunately, I have to say I have been to more than 1 treatment program to "get it." I have been to high priced treatment that didn't work and i went to Amicus House and have been sober since. I went to Amicus House three years ago and have my life back. I have my children back and the trust of my family again. I cannot say enough about how much Lori Johnson and the staff care about the clients and their success. She runs a great program and seeing all the still sober people at meetings that have come from Amicus House proves it.

Amicus House is an excellent program. I was fortunate enough to enter Amicus in November of 2005. I had been in recovery before, but had made choices that led me back to active alcoholism and addiction and eventually into a state of complete helplessness. I had lost all hope, lost my job, my marriage and was unable to be a father to my son. The staff at Amicus house is well balanced with both professional therapists and educated clean and sober addicts that bring much needed real life experiences to the table. I was stubborn and probably would have been unable to listen to someone who had not been through similar experiences. If you think you can go to a program and somehow be magically cured or saved- good luck. Getting/staying sober requires willingness! Amicus House provided me with a fresh start. They re-introduced me to the 12 steps and 12 step meetings which are an important and necessary part of my ongoing recovery. I have been clean and sober since I entered Amicus house almost...
