Wed Jul 09 2008I recently opened a new business and was required by the landlord to change the locks. I called them at 5:15PM on a Wednesday and set up an appointment for the next morning at 9:00AM. it was not a problem (other locksmiths I called seemed irritated I had call "after hours" or wanted to charge an after day fee.) The locksmith - Ron, was on time, did a professional job, and charged a very fair price. I will definitely use them again.

Fri Sep 15 2006This got to be the WORST Locksmith in SF! They never return your calls and don't care what your concerns are. I dropped off a door lock to be rekeyed and didn't have the original keys anymore, The so-called staff, Amanda said it can be done for $10, when I arrived she says no, its $15 if you don't have the original key which I told her before. She says it will be done a 2-3 hrs. I left and came back after 3 hrs on a Friday. She said the technicial "Jason PRIOR" is out and that I can pick up Saturday, tomarrow. Came on Saturday, store was closed! After the weekend, Monday was Labor Day so Tuesday I called she said 'oh yes, the technician just had picked it up and will be done next day" I didn't go until Thursday thinking that should be plenty of time for them. Thursday came, I went and talked to Amanda, she seems like on something, can't seem to remember anything, after retelling her my situation she was like " the technician has hasn't dropped it off" I told her this my 2nd visit and... Wed Jul 19 2006I can't believe this is an actual business. The absolute WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. I made an appt and left work early to meet the locksmith -- no show. I called and got an ETA of 5 minutes -- no show. Next day I rescheduled, guess what ANOTHER NO SHOW!! I of cource called repeatedly to get the status of the technician's ETA -- any time now was their response. I have called numerous time and recieved NO CALL BACK. I even called the manager "Jason" on his cell and have been waiting 2 days for his call back...and he knows my plight. Ugh! DO NOT PATRONIZE Ames Locksmith!!!!

Thu Mar 16 2006They Responded to my request within minutes, this guy was like the Flex armstrong of locksmiths he was professional , and fixed my busted door in notime, I highly recomend Ames, I dont know what the previous guy was ranting about, cause i had an excellent experience! My father in law is a locksmith in Florida, and he said their charge for replacing my doorlock was exceptionally reasonable! as he charges 40-50 more generally, and for them to shoot out to my place at 6am that in itself was impressive! Kudos to Ames! I'm a loyal Customer forever!

Wed Jan 11 2006In March of '05 (approx. 10 months ago), I had Ames Locksmith out to replace the handle and lock on my rear sliding glass door. The locksmith took the old one and never returned. For the past 10 months I have been calling them to get the new lock. I have since had a 2 x 4 keeping my sliding door locked. I don't call every day, only every once in a while when I think of it. I left repeated messages for the manager, however he never accepted or returned any of my calls. Finally after 10 months I gave the receptionist a long over due verbal trashing. She, after 10 months, told me that the locksmith who took the lock doesn't work there anymore. I asked for another appointment for someone to come out yesterday. They never showed up. Don't waste your time, call anyone else.

Mon Oct 31 2005go to a locksmith who actually knows how to make keys! made 3 sets of keys for a client, and out of 9, they messed up 6. they're like the kinkos of locksmith - any joe blow off the street knows more about their 'specialty' than they do!

Sun Aug 21 2005I requested a time after work, they told me it was not possible. Took off work for a 4 - 4:30 appt...they did not show up. Called at 4:35, receptionist said she'd call the locksmith to see where he was and call me back. No call back. Called back at 5:05 and got the emergency line. No response whatsoever...DO NOT USE!!!
