Along Came a Spider

Kiss The Girls was a better movie.

While clearly failing to live up to Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider nevertheless delivers as a suspenseful thriller. Freeman is as usual solid as the savvy forensic psychologist Alex Cross, who is on the trail of a man suspected of kidnapping a U.S. senator's daughter. Monica Potter, a relative newcomer bearing an uncanny resemblance to Julia Roberts, is quite impressive as the Secret Service agent who is helping Cross. The movie is quite suspenseful and exciting. The ending was quite surprising, although it seemed that the filmmakers were too intent on the shock value without ensuring that it corresponded with the plot of the film. You'll know what I'm talking about when you watch the film. Despite a few holes in the plot and the surprising but nevertheless somewhat unbelievable ending, Along Came a Spider is a decent thriller filled with loads of suspense and quite a bit of action.

Typical and predictable - bad first scene - low budget cinematography

Far too predictable. This movie had potential, but it had potential at the preview level. About fifteen minutes into the movie, I was certain I'd be disappointed. While I've never been disappointed in Morgan Feeman's work, time and time again, I have found that he cannot single handedly save movies by lending his name to them. I found Monica Potter's character to be contrived, and her dialogue without any noticable originality or richness. Perhaps Potter just doesn't play the character well. Additionally, the villian is not a well developed character, and viewers are left confused by his fascination with Cross.

movie was OK, but I have a problem with movies that start out with a story that is believable and then the story is resolved using something that is unbelievable. What are the chances of ANYONE guessing someone's computer password? on the first try? Once you have broken in to someone's computer, what are the chances that you'll find an icon that says 'click here to find out where the kidnapped girl is' ? Well, I'm exagerating a bit, but you get the point.

Massive disapointment. I am a huge fan of James Patterson the author of all the Alex Cross detective novels and I must say in respect to the novel, this film is a travesty. This film is nothing like the biik which, in retrospect, is much more enjoyable and well thought out. This movie follows the book in no way except that the good guy is Alex Cross and the bad guy is Gary Sonja. This film grows into nothing. You end up feeling nothing for any character at all. And when ah ha moments fail to make you go ah ha. That is a sighn of failure. Kiss the Girls wasn't much better in that respect. Anyway, I recommend reading the books. Stay away from this film or any other film made of this brilliant series of books.
