Fri Jun 29 2007I bought my Area 51-M 7700Laptop two years ago. The first night after I unpacked it the motherboard it caught on fire. I am telling you the first night I got the computer in the mail from UPS and within 2 hours of turning it on it fired itself. I sent it back and they fixed it almost 2 months later. Over the next 2 years the motherboard, video card and hard drives all failed. A total of 6 times. They fixed them all but they always took so many weeks to do the fixes. Now the warranties is finally up and guess what... the Motherboard has gone bad again and all they can say it the warranty is up but you can buy the extended warranty and get it fixed. I cannot believe a company is allowed to do this. I have nowhere to go because they have so many people not telling the higher ups that they are having so many troubles. I read articles but they all say the same thing and it isn't anything about their problems. They actually think they are producing a good product. 6,000 dollars of 3 years o... Read more

Wed Feb 28 2007Alienware Area-51 M5550. Before I placed my order, I researched for weeks on Alienware and did come across a tremendous amount bad reviews about the company and its laptops. Overheating, refective screen display, bad customer service, dead pixels, and a huge price tag. Still, I placed my order for the following reasons. a.) The customizable specs are unfound of for laptops in its category. b.) For advanced user who wants to do home video editing, graphic/web design, gaming and other business applications - M5550 is top on the line for speed, connectivity, performance, and mobility. c.) Voodoo PC costs much more and heavier and customizable Sony VAIO does not come with Windows Vista Ultimate and no TV Tuner and DVI output. d.) Battery life is understandablly under 2 hours compromised by processor speed and hard drive RPM. As a Senior IT Consultant, I see on a daily basis problematic laptops/PC ranging Dell, Toshiba, Sony, HP, Asus, Gateway...the list goes on. The thing is there i... Read more

Fri Jan 05 2007All I have to say is WOW! I went with Alienware because of their notorious reputation for top shelf computers with stylish design in mind. I picked out my dream machine the Area-51 m5550. I went with a lower end model with a small base price, and then just added on all the bells and whistles. It came to about $2000 which initially I thought was a lot. Then I checked Dell and Gateway and quickly found that all the specs that matched were about the same price. However I got the piece of mind knowing that all the parts were top notch. The hard drive was Seagate, GForce video card, ect. and that's awesome instead of all the other Dells and such that just take the lowest bidders offers for their hardware. However the thing that shocks me most is reading all the negative press on Alienware. I placed my order on Dec 27th they estimated that it would ship on Jan 8th. Much to my surprise it shipped early and I received it on Jan 3rd! There were no dead pixels, the laptop looked great, runs gr... Read more

Wed Mar 16 2005I have had the misfortune of purchasing one of your computers a nightmare from the get go and after waiting 4-5 weeks for you to build it and sending me all of those steps of perfection pure bull if you ask me, my computer is broken and must be shipped back to you for repair. And how long will the repair take, up to 16 work days after you receive it. I will be without my computer for at least 5-6 weeks, is this your idea of service, not even dell is this bad and they are terrible. And just what is your idea of on site service? I spent the last hour and 38 minutes taking apart and putting together your computer for absolutely no benefit. On site service means you come here and fix the computer not having the customer do the work. First you are lucky I had all the tiny tools necessary to get the computer apart and back together and secondly if we had found the problem why in hell would I need you to come out here to install the part, I am a pro by now! All in all, after the delays and ... Read more

Thu Aug 05 2004Alienware computers are a rip off I mean they cost way to much money. You can build one the exact same for less and save alot of money.Better yet go get an xbox for 150 bucks and save even more.Thats where all the gamers are going anyway.Xbox live thats the future of online gaming.Just look at the software sales of games pc only has 7% of the market its dying.Only the games not the computer xbox live is the number 1 online console why because it does everthing right for online playing. So instesd of sinking your money into an alienware just for games do some research first.Unless you have it to blow for the rest of us gamers well spend a 150 bucks on an xbox and have just as good as graphics and alot more fun playing games.

Tue Jul 06 2004Recently I purchased an Alienware Area 51-m mobile gaming machine (laptop) 16.1 3.4 GHz with 1 Gig PC-3200 ram 80 GIG HDD and combo drive burner DVD and CD-R/W. It came with nVIDIA Go5700... the system overheated when left on for more than 30 minutes at a time, the screen had 6 dead pixels, 4 of which were in or around the center, multiple areas of animated black pixels, the quality of the screen was as old fashioned and poor as it can get. The thing weighed almost 20 lbs. (LOL what a f'in joke man..), the battery lasts about 45 minutes, and you could only place it on a hard surface due to the ventilation being placed on the BOTTOM of the f'in machine... hah, what a joke Alienware is. I don't mind their desktops, yet again, I can build my own and overclock it way past their expensive sh*t. If you want a reliable gaming laptop, try the new Fujitsu N series, 3.2 GHz CRYSTAL VIEW 16 screen with 1 gig ram 80 gig hdd and Radeon 9600. Beautiful laptop with a beautiful screen, can place on an... Read more

Wed Mar 17 2004So it is a great computer eh, for the double the price as a regular computer, what does it really do to make it worth the extra $1500? It is great at playing games, it is a gaming machine, what's wrong with just upgrading to a 256mb G force video card for around $94 on tigerdirect.com?? seems like the cheaper option to me.

Tue Feb 11 2003I'm typing this on my alienware computer. I have found Alienware computers to be THE best computer setup you can buy. My computer did take a long time to build, and Alienware has had problems with timelines so be forwarned that it could be a month before your compuer arrives on your doorstep, but when it does you'll love it. Soild. Alienware knows it's hardware, they're setups are bleeding fast and perform amazingly when compared to a similar system from dell or compaq. They know which motherboard doesn't have conflicts with what gpu's and ram. They do the testing, which is more then I can say for my experiences with IBM, Sony VIAO's (desktop), AST, or Compaq. (I've also had a Packard Bell but lets just forget about that). The service department needs to be changed and improved. I find it slow and slugguish most of the time. For gamers and profesionals who need top of the line reliable systems out of the box, go with Alienwares. One thing says something to me, the US Army ... Read more

Sat Feb 01 2003Ordered the computer over 5 weeks ago. Was immediately billed and promised the item would ship within 15-20 business days followed by 3-day FedEx Shipping. To make a long story short, the PC was never built, and I'd received a bunch of contradictory and often idiotic explanations by Alienware 'support' people who apparently were interested ONLY in getting me off the phone. Your order is built and being tested! Followed by: There's a delay with a part, call back next week for an update Followed by: We will have a tracking number for you tomorrow.. Followed by: Call back in a week and we'll let you know if all the parts are in. So, each reply was apparently a load of BS. I've cancelled my order and requested a refund. I expect to get more aggro after reading posts on Epinions about them doing all kinds of funny stuff with credit cards. AVOID ALIENWARE!!!
