THE ALBERTSONS NELSON ROAD LAKE CHARLES LA. STORE IS A VERY CLEAN AND WELL STOCKED STORE. I DON'T MIND PAYING A LITTLE MORE FOR PRODUCTS AT THIS ALBERTSONS. WHAT I DO MIND IS GETTING RIPPED OFF AT THE COUNTER AND THE EMPLOYEES AND MANAGMENT MAKING PEOPLE FEEL THEY ARE CRY BABIES FOR ASKING FOR THE WRONG PRICE TO BE CORRECTED. MANY MANY TIMES THE AD PRICES ARE NOT PUT INTO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. WHEN YOU LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS OR THE PREVIOUS WEEKS SHELF TAGS THAT WERE NEVER PULLED, IS WHEN THE HASSELS START. HOW MANY PEOPLE NEVER NOTICE THIS AND PAY THE WRONG PRICES??? COME ON I WORK HARD FOR MY MONEY AND DON'T APPRECIATE GETTING RIPPED OFF OR HAVING THE HASSEL OF GETTING THE CORRECT PRICES. I HATE TO ADMIT IT BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING EVER RUNG UP WITH THE WRONG PRICE AT A WAL-MART. MANY TIMES AFTER LETTING ALBERTSONS KNOW ABOUT A WRONG PRICE I HAVE COME IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO TO NOTE THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT CHANGING THE PRICE ON AN INCORRECTLY PRICED ITEM. PLEASE PLEAS... Talk about a company that doesn't get it. The managers have no clue on how things work. They don't believe in hiring good people for the job, in fact they hire people because they don't want to pay too much for good employees. The prices are so high, yet over a third of their products are damaged. The stores with the gas stations are the worse. They don't take anyone serious out there, and just throw whoever they want out there, and hope they understand it. Managers there give any customer free stuff, even when they didn't even have a legit claim. Not also that, but here is the inside scoop. When their profits or down, or a store is losing money, they try to pin point it on a small group. They send in their Lost Prevention group. They look through a bunch of files, and try to tell someone that they cost the store thousands and thousands of dollars. Forget the fact you have high dollar prices for simple things, and products expire, and they have to be sold below cost to get rid of.

over the years albertsons here has had its ups and down. i remember when you couldn't find a better bargain and quality anywhere. then something happened and #1 spot was taken over by a smiths food king and albertsons has never been able to take the lead again. its prices are higher but still holds a good quality mark. it manages to stay in business and does well enough because of loyal customers and friendly employees.

I used to shop at Albertsons many years ago before they closed one of the two entrance / exits, blacked out the windows, took out half the parking lot lights, and went self-service on the check-out procedure. They finally closed the stores and left my area. Gee I wonder why? What genius made those decisions?

Albertson's is okay if you're in a hurry and need something quick or if you live close by it. Otherwise, they are a bit overpriced compared to other stores. Their meat is always fairly priced but after going to Walmart it's just really hard to pay twice as much when you know it's twice as cheap somewhere else. If they go out of business I too will feel badly, but they just need to learn strategies to compete with price wars and gain new customers. I live right by an Albertson's so I stop in frequently for little items or snacks. But I don't do my shopping there, I go to Walmart for that.

Albertsons is going out of business in Oak Cliff at 2 locations, and both stores were opened only around 6 years ago. So the real question is why did Albertsons Stores fail in Oak Cliff? Below are stores in Oak Cliff that are aparently doing well: 1. Kroger at Wynnewood Village Center. 2. Tom Thumb on South Hampton near Clarendon, next door to Country Burger. 3. Carnival, it's newest store, located near Westmoreland and West Illinois Ave. 4. Minyard, at Polk and Camp Wisdom. 5. Sack-n-Save at Redbird Near Hampton and HWY 67. 6. Fiesta, at West Jefferson Blvd. 7. Jerrys, at Hampton-Illinois Center. 8. El Rancho, a very successful Mexican store in Wynnewood Village, that is about the most basic store I have seen in this part of the city. 9. Wal*Mart SuperCenter, for it's prices and strategic locations. So, if Albertson is going out of business just in Oak Cliff, it must mean one or two things, First: Poor customer Service or none at all. Second: All the other super markets... Read more

I wouldn't call this my favorite store. I went shopping there recently. Not a human cashier in sight... just those self-checkouts. Heck, even the regular checkouts were unmanned. I don't know about anyone else, but I want to deal with a human being.

lol my review may be biased b/c i used to work at Ralphs. (at work we'd make jokes about Albertsons and hiss everytime a customer presented an Albertsons club card by mistake) Compared to Ralphs, Albertsons has a marginal selection of...everything. The stores are dusty, lit with seizure-inducing flourecents, and products are limited to big brand names. I've been spoiled to the ridiculously high expectations of PV Ralphs markets. then again, i've only been to a tiny Albertsons in Torrance...

They are O.k. I like the seafood dept. Always clean, doesn't smell at all. Overall, the store is clean. I'm not a big fan of the "gimmic card" to get a few pennies off your bill. W/D uses them too. Why can't you just charge a fair price on everything?

I have very specific thoughts about this chain. Find the one that is the busiest. Ask one of the employees which one sells the most in town. Go to that one and you'll find the best meat and produce. Things are more organized. I learned this after living next to the largest one (claimed they sold twice as much as the next higher one) and moved to an area with just an average Albertsons. I didn't even need to experience it, all the neighbors hated it. It took me about a year to find out that they were right. Also, I swear the prices were higher. Maybe not, but the 2 liter soft drinks never seemed to have the .99 in store special. Of course today, with the fuel so high, I don't think we'll see many sales of Coke and Pepsi products in the 99 cent range again. If they build a Super Target near you, don't miss shopping there. The best quality meats and produce. The Deli has better products too. It's a little more expensive but not a "lot" more expensive.

(Rating based on single visit in Gainesville, FL location) Okay, so I've been spoiled. Very spoiled. I'm used to going to Wholesale Clubs like Costco and paying extraordinarily low prices for everything that could possibly come in bulk ( . . . and then some). But, with a lack of options in this town, I gotta suck it up and take what I can get. CLEANLINESS: 5/5. . . . well, it's clean. What else is there to say? It's a nice place. PRICES: 1/5. Ouch. Prices are noticably higher than other local grocery chains in the area. I mean, it's nothing to cry over, but when you're on a tight budget, it makes a huge difference. SERVICE: 3/5. To be fair, I haven't had enough experience with the store to know if service is consistent or not. I have no complaints, but they don't stand out, either. SELECTION: 4/5. Well, it's okay. I've had a lot of of better experiences elsewhere, though, so it's hard to compare. OVERALL: Maybe a 3.5 out of 5. The experience itself is fine, ... Read more

The closest thing to Bi-Lo in the bayou state. Most of the stores I have been to are clean (the exception being Jones Creek at George O'Neil). The prices as everyone that has posted has made reference to are a little high compared to other markets, but are not too expensive. The sales prices that Albertson's has really are good. Look at the number of items they always have at 10 for $10. That always seems to cancel out the higher priced items. In the Baton Rouge area this is by far the best stores remaining, since the demise of Delchamps and the now-on-life-support- Winn-Dixie.

I am an employee in Austin, Texas and I was thinking that a grocery store would be a great place to work to get a full time job and recieve benifits. I shopped at Albertsons all the time and thought it would be great to work there. Boy have they let me down! Not only will they not give ANY employee over 29 hours a week, they sent out a news flyer that in order to recieve benifits, you have to work 30 hours or more a week without fail! I'm lucky if they give me 15 hours a week! And also, they won't train me for diddly squat! I work in the service deli and really all I've learned is how to fry chicken and slice up meats. I am clueless about evething else, and I do ask my manager if she will show me things, but she tries to ignore me! And another thing. I've just learned I can't reduce a price of something no way, no how, I don't care if it's not fresh or customer is dissatisfied. -I'll let Albertson do the dirty work of training me, what little they do, then move on somewhere where they... Try working at Albertsons! You get the inside scope on how terribel it is. They overcharge on the prices while advertising that they are the cheapest around. 1 to 2 registers open at a time with no manager to be found. Then they cheat their employees out of earned pay and vacation. Albertsons is a collection of cheap, greedy rich bastards.

As mentioned here, it really does depend on what location you visit. Here in northern CA, Albertson seems to be divided between two kinds of stores. The first are the newer, larger ones, which often contain Savon pharmacies, and are generally terrific (the one in Pleasant Hill is just as nice as any upscale chain) Then there are the older, smaller stores which are often a mess (the one in Oakland near the Rockridge BART station comes to mind). You almost can't give the entire chain a single rating, but they're generally OK.

It depends on the location you go to. In Denver, Albertson's is very clean, the selection is excellent and the prices are cheaper than Safeway and King Soopers. When I moved to Omaha, Albertson's was not the same as it was in Colorado. Omaha Albertson's were much more expensive than Denver, quality was low and the service was rude. But then again, Omaha has no good grocrey chains except for Kroger LOL

i have been working for albertsons in omaha nebraska for about 5months. i think it is a great store! of course you might think i am saying this since i work there. one of the greatest things for the customer is gettign accurate pricing. if something scans wrong, you get it FREE, if you are not satisfied with something, you get your money back, and or get that item FREE, and maybe an extra!! i am a cashier, and i have to say i agree, most cashiers are slow. i however am fast and you can tell im happy when im working with the GENUINE smile and greetings. if you have an opinion on how an albertsons is, then take a look at the staff and NOT the building or the items in stock. please consider alberstons has been a leader in the business for many years. if you think the lighting is poor, it is probably because of the cutbacks from thefts and vandalism. unfortunately, most all stores are making a profit hence the prices......but that is how the employees and farmers make a living. i hope i h... Some Albertsons can be OK, but the one by my house is horrible. First off, the outside is painted a disgusting salmon color. Not necessarily an indicator of the inside, but I must say... IT IS! As soon as you walk in, the smell of not-so-fresh seafood hits you like a ton of bricks. Kind of odd considering the seafood is located at the BACK of the store. The lighting is low and dismal and the prices are nothing to write home about.

At the moment, this is by far my favorite grocery store. There prices can be stiff sometimes, but it is well worth it. I have never had a bad experience in any Albertsons, the selection is great, they have a great bakery, and the meat section is wonderful too. The staff seems really nice too. I recommend Albertson's to everyone ! UPDATE: As I said earlier, the prices can be a little high, but I am saying a LITTLE, I don't know where some of these people live that claim that a loaf of bread is over 3 dollars or hot dogs are 5.79 a pack, they either read the ad wrong or the sticker wrong or they are totally exaggerating. I don't believe it at all...Albertson's has been around a long time and is a very large chain with a good reputation, if they charged prices like that they wouldn't be in business any more with all the tough competition out there.

I agree! What is Albertsons thinking? A package of hot dogs $5.79 and butter is on sale for $3.09 and bread over 3 bucks! I have to laugh! Even their fake preferred card prices are a lot higher than my favorite grocery store, WinCo!

In the baton rouge area, albertsons seems to be struggling against the competition, espec wal mart. albertsons has a great potential to regain their customer base if they could lower their prices a bit. i like the albertsons stores and would miss them if they leave. customers want in this order: low prices, convenience, short check out times, customer service and product selection. albertsons needs to improve on prices and check out times. come on albertsons, fight wal mart and be strong again! we love you!

I'm from Illinois and I shop at a subsidary of this chain, Jewel. When I vacation out west, I can never tell the difference between these stores as both of them do offer great service to the disabled. I also see that the prices are manageble to anyone's budget though they broke the promise of card free shopping after a year of getting total control of California's market, Lucky. Best of all, the stores are always clean and up-to-date.

I know it as ACME, but they share the same products and advertisements, so I'm assuming that they are similar. These stores rock! Clean, bright, wide-aisles, cool plastic buggys, incredible selections, great prices and more. They, like many Delaware grocery stores, don't carry some of my favorite foods sold in Alabama (such as Martha White muffin mix--what gives?), but this awesome store can't be beat!

Albertson's is by far the highest quality grocery store in my town. We have Smith's (a large chain here that has jacked up prices, unless you use their club card--- & they're not that impressive to begin with), Macey's (a warehouse much like Food for Less...feels like you're shopping at the government food pantry), & Wal-Mart (who's prices are great, but buying perishable foods there is a big mistake!! We've bought brand new, moldy sour cream & their produce is always awful! One time, all of the zuchinni was black! Plus, we always bring home swarms of fruit flies with their produce). Albertson's has the best quality dairy, meats, & produce of all the stores in my area!

Prices are not higher than Fry's or Safeway, but the quality is 10 times better. I completely stopped buying produce from other stores, because it turned out to be a waste of money, lots of money. Albertsons is almost 10 miles from my house, 7 Frys/Safeways can be found on my way to Albertsons (icecream melts in summer on the way home, so that I have to go to Fry's sometimes). I gladly drive the extra miles to buy fish that looks clean and doesn't smell like it was displayed for 3 - 5 days. Fry's sucks.

Albertsons has the potential of being a great asset to any area that it's placed in, however, Albertson is way to high on the majority of the prices. The quality of service is great for the amount of workers they have on hand but that is not enough to make me want to pay more for the same thing that their competitors have. Albertson name brand products are overpriced. If you compare prices with one of the largest competitors (H E B) in the Austin area....it is astonishing to see the difference. The Albertsons stores do not even compare with the HEB...especially the new HEBs. Everytime I go into Alberstons the cashiers are standing at the checkout with no or few cosumers...even on the weekeneds durring the bussy times. Good Luck Alberstons....need to increase volume...it would help your out of date problems throughout your entire store including the dry grocery isles. Its not too often you see a can of beans or a bag of rice out of date.
