Owners Karrie and Tim League should be--and very much are--credited with revitalizing the movie-watching experience in Austin. Their northernmost branch of the chain is a haven for those who can appreciate quality independent productions and cult classics in addition to first-runs. Interactivity (The Mamma Mia! sing-a-long event brought something special out of me), theme nights, filmmaker and star appearances are all to be expected and enjoyed. Once in your cushiony comfy seat, order off the atypical cinema menu, populated with beers, wines, and campy movie-related dishes like "Poultrygeist" Chicken Pesto and “Up in Smoke'd” Bacon Pizza. Leaving no one behind, the Drafthouse also caters to those who prefer Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and organic options.

i love this place! the crowd is there for the movie or show and they make sure of it. if you talk or text, they will kick your ass out and that is lovely. service and food is always good. they should have one in every town in the nation. you can tell they care about the experience and do everything they can to enhance it. REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!

If you want to see a movie, and have a great meal, this is a place to go. The movies they show are great, and the food they have is amazing,...

Great place to watch movies and have dinner! The Porky's pizza is the best and so are the hot wings. If you're going opening night, get there at least an hour early, the lines can be long and you want to get great seats.

I love all the Alamos but this is my favorite. I like how it's roomy and has a bar at the front. The trailers are a great and entertaining freebie. The service is great and parking is always available. I am giving it four stars because the food could be better.

Nothing better than settling in for a good movie and good food and drinks! I love how they will actually remove noisy people from the theater! Like the trailer before the movie says "We'll toss ya out!". Just priceless! The food is great, and the beer and wine selection is good but could use expanding. Buying tickets online is always easy and it's even easier to get the tickets at "will call". Their email newsletter is good too. I'll never go to Tinsel town again! Why mess with snacks like popcorn when you can get something WAY better for almost the same money?!?!

Good food, beer and a movie... can't go wrong there. The only two reasons I give this place a 7 instead of a 10 is because I like the Lakecreek location better in terms of food and service. Neither is bad here, it's just a lot better at Lakecreek. Still, I would rather go here than any of the other regular theatres in town.

I emplore you, please do not use this Drafthouse. The other Alamo Drafthouses in town are just fine (especially the Village, that's a great one), but this one has some of the worst service and servicepeople in the entire city. I've been going to the Drafthouses for over 10 years now, and have never experienced the low-level of service that the Lake Creek location provided. Our waiter was very loud during a quiet movie (kept calling 'last call' MUCH louder than he needed to around the entire theater), and he charged 17% gratuity for us KNOWING THE PEOPLE next to us - said we were a party of 6! When we questioned the waiter about it, he proceeded to get frustrated with us (for no apparent reason...we were not being rude at that point) and blurted out, "Well, fine... if you don't want to tip..." turned his back on us and walked away. The management wasn't much better, considering that they're 'only there to enforce the policy, not to change it'. They refused to take the gratuity off... Read more

I guess these two things depend on your perspective, but if you like beer and you like Austin-esque venues, this is the theatre for you. While the seating is not the Metropolitan, the superb conscessions and total-movie-experience far outweigh the slight blemish.

No better way to watch a movie- Dinner and a Movie! I love Alamo downtown and I really think the picture and sound.....and parking at the Alamo North is much better!

I love this place! The first time I ever went was to watch Goldmember with some friends. I'm not sure if it was the movie or the alcohol, but the end effect was a brilliant movie. The fact that they serve alcohol certainly tips the scales. The fact that their movie choices are great blows the competition away.

The Alamo North theatre was a very unique experience and I loved it! The staff was great and the menu is awesome. It's a great family theatre or date theatre!

When we moved to Austin 3 months ago, we were told that the city had lots of off-beat charm. This theater has convinced us that is true. Alamo has great old movie-house atmosphere, and cold drinks and hot food are delivered right to your seat. Bliss. The only difference I would like to see is to be able to lift the seat dividers so my honey and I could snuggle more :-)

The Alamo Drafthouse North has saved us NW Austinites from the depths of mainstream movie-going hell. Unlike the one downtown, I've actually been able to find parking in time to get my tickets AND find a good seat. Their food is delicious, the Sangrias are fab, and the staff is very courteous. The Alamo Drafthouse North is by far my favorite cinema in Austin!
