    On a recent trip to Europe, Air Canada confiscated my father's suitcase from the baggage area of the plane because they decided it was too big. To be honest, I can't say exactly how bit it was, but I will say that he travels internationally a LOT, and this was never an issue before - even on Air Canada. If the person at the check-in counter had warned him, he might have been able to do something about it - or at least remove his medication from his suitcase. Instead, he had to wait almost a week for it to be delivered - nevermind enormous extra fees. Because of this, my father suffered some serious adverse health consequences.. and it ruined his trip. Also Air Canada lost all records of my trip to India several years ago and thus did not reward me my miles. Horrible airline.

    Where the heck is the zero star button?!?!? I fly to Canada a lot and Air Canada is sometimes the only option. Before you get to the airport you need to say a little prayer. I flew the SEA(Seattle)-YVR(Vancouver)-YYC(Calgary) route and good god they need help! I attempted to print my boarding pass off in Seattle, however because they don't really consider Seattle a priority you have to check in at the United desk (fellow Star Alliance member) with a line back up to the boonies with soldiers traveling to Seoul and the usual United crap they call customer service. After checking my watch and with thirty minutes before my bad muffler dash 8 takesoff, i finally make it to the desk to find out that it takes for ever to work their self service computer. Finally bags tagged and off to security. Air Canada Jazz or even Air Canada or even United did'nt let me know that the flight was taking off in a remote terminal and requires a train to get to.     If I could give them a negative I would! Very Unprofessional and will NEVER fly with them again. They sent a flight into Pittsburgh which model could not be refueled in Pittsburgh, in turn this flight was unable to fly back to Toronto to pick us up. INEPT describes Air Cranada's staff! They only fly to Pittsburgh 365 days a year, like we should expect them to know what flights Pitsburgh can accept! My Family will never fly with them again horrible experience!!!!!!!! Or maybe I should say LACK OF EXPERIENCE!!!!! Oh yea and if you would like to talk to a customer service representative concerning the issues you had YOU CAN'T!!! You have to send them an email or letter. I am guessing their phone lines couldn't handle all the complaints or they needed to hire too many people to deal with all the unsatisfied customers!

    Here is a letter i sent to Air Canada explaining my recent experience with them: I would like to express my disapointment toward the service my family and I received. At time of the check-in at the Pierre-Elliot Trudeau airport, in Montreal, the woman at the counter for the Elite members was very cold and rude. She never greeted us or smiled. My dad is an elite member and when he asked her if his family (my mother, my sister and I) could join him in the maple leaf lounge, she replide with a simple "no". When we got to the lounge, we found out that we could, in fact, join him. During the flight, there was a period of turbulence. My dad is a 60 year old man who is very sick and borderline incontinent. He tried getting up to use the washroom when the seat belt sign was still on. He was intercepted by the flight attendant (whose name is Mr Lauzon) who told him to sit down for as long as the sign was still on. My dad told him that he was going to urinate in his pants.     Fine if you're flying between Toronto and Vancouver or Montreal. Pretty shoddy if you're going anywhere else. A bar that closes every time you're thirsty and food that would sicken a hungry sow. They hire drunken mountain gorillas to handle your luggage, and chimpanzees to route it, with the result that your suitcase is going to be far more travelled than you are. Stewardesses (excuse me, Cabin Attendants) who are about as attractive as my mother, and about the same age as well.

    I've had nothing but good luck with Air Canada. I was flying with them at the height of increased security over this holiday season (I flew from Canada to the US 2 days after the attempted terrorist attack), and they bent over backwards to help me make it to my final destination, bumping my connection through Montreal to Boston up an hour so I'd have time to make it through the additional security and pre-border customs with time to spare. Each of the planes I flew on, including one operated by AirCanada Jazz, their low cost service had power outlets (!!!) and usb outlets in the seat backs, a rarity in the US, but incredibly useful if you use technology to amuse yourself. They are a bit expensive, but since they're the cheapest option flying from the US to Canada, I can't really complain too much about that.

    Flew from Hfx to London Eng and back with AC. I enjoyed the flights..and we did have movies to choose. The meals were great ( for what u can expect) and they were always around with water. I found them very friendly as well...

    I travelled from Newfoundland to New York and somehow my bag ended up in Edmonton! After speaking to several extremly rude Air Canada staff and getting nowhere I decided it was a waste of my time. I truly believe Air Canada train the staff to be as ignorant and rude as possible! If you lose you luggage you can expect to get it back in a timely manner.....let's say withing 4 DAYS!!!! WestJet is highly recommended!

    One of the worse Airline companies you can fly with. Their new Entertainment system is never working, the personal are old an unfriendly. If you loose your luggage you will never get paid for stuff you have to buy.

    Aircraft boeing 767-300, was clean and neat, no perosnal tv on my flight, food was excelllent, flight attendants were nice, washroom clean, and seats comfortable, price was high, and for some weird reasons no movies on that night!

    I have had several bad experiences including my last one from Toronto to Vancouver. This time they charged me $125 to bring a snowboard and the bag never made it on the flight. Air Canada would not refund me the charge to handle the board even though I paid extra. The employees working at the baggage claims and at the ticket desk were very rude and told me they could care less if I ever flew their airline again.

    London to San Fransico worst journey, small plane, terrible service,horrible food, inflight entertainment- had old outdated projection cinema which didnot work....no sound, blurred picture-had to switch it of after half hour. Plane was old and dirty too. Worst was yet to come...connecting flight from Toronto to SFO was a another nightmare and actually had to pay for food ie cold sandwiches....had paid 750 for the flight but never again. Return journey was the same and unfortunately I and other three travelling passenger were sick with cold and chest infection breathing in stale air in the plane. Got the feeling that this Airline is run on a minimum budget just to keep the Canadian Flag flying.

    They do their jobs, but probably is like the rest of many other airlines. What I can tell you, after being on pretty much 30 of their flights (one-way) so far, it seems that they are trained the same way, and adhere to the same patterns of performing their duties. That being said, there are certainly better days for some flight attendants than others, where you are not a person to them, but an obstacle they have to conquer (and get rid off). This is overshadowed by the fact that maintenance on their planes can cause frequent delays, cancelled flights and just plain frustration. There is also the matter of food service on the planes once you are up there. Just introduced is their cafe onboard, which has about a couple of items from every food package/category ie. sandwich, drink, snack. Often the one you want is also sold out and not replaced.     It is always hit or miss with air canada.  Their service is by far better than United or American, but not Delta, SWA, and Alaska, and you actually get to buy decent food as opposed to the $5 boxed mishmash of junk that they call a "snack".  Who snacks on Beef Jerky with hummus and crackers??  Their inflight service is waaaaaaaay better.  Their flight attendants are waaaaaay nicer but their ticket agents/gate agents need some work.  They are to customers what Willie Nelson was to law enforcement.  All in all, I am okay with Air Canada personnel.  The airline still bites but is better than most International airlines.

    If I could choose a 1/2 star I would. AC is the worst airline I have ever experienced--and I am a frequent flyer. They seem very disorganized and the staff both ground and air leave a lot to be desired. They do not deserve to be the national airline of Canada. I do my absolute best to avoid having to use them to fly anywhere.

    Awful, never were that good but what ticks me off is their attitude. Cabin staff need replacing. Air Canada should have been allowed to fold when they were in trouble and it's routes sold off. Fly Cathay Pacifc.

    Being a Canadian, I have to say that we not that bad as far as service goes. We definitely offer more than American carriers offer as far as in-flight service. On a Air Canada small commuter flight I got a coffee and juice and a sandwich and yogurt and was offered a newspaper! On a flight from London(UK) to Toronto, we got tea and scones with clotted cream inbetween dinner and dinner was delicious!! Lamb and a rice that look like saffron. I have no complaints, Canucks should be proud of their airline because it FAR exceeds most U.S. carriers!!!!

    Their website didn't work. These people lost my luggage coming and going, and damaged it in transit to boost. My last connecting flight was late. This was my first and last experience with them.

    Getting better now that uncertainty is over. They need to get rd of old Canadian Airlines planes because the interiors are getting tacky. On a recent 1 hour flight they served ice-cream cones --- nice touch.

    Price is too high for the quality of service recieved. The food is of such low qualuity I recommend bringing your own. Fly Westjet insteads, they treat you with repect.

    What has happened to Air Canada service? On my flight from Los Angeles to Calgary (3 hr flight), they served me one drink and a ball of tinfoil. OK, so there was something side the tinfoil, but I'm not sure what. A hunk of stale tortilla dough with a few smears of tomato sauce is not any kind of food I'm accustomed to. Revolting! They get a "1" just because of that!

    I'm giving Air Canada a 3-star rating almost entirely because of its safety record which is excellent compared to airlines around the world. To rate it on customer service would require a scale including negative numbers, and that seems to be getting worse rather than better. Number of flights is being reduced and the restrictions on fares are getting more and more rigid. Not sure what DickDick's comment has to do with the airline? At any rate, despite the decreasing quality of service from our national airline, the choices are few. Without more solid competition from regional airlines, I suspect Air Canada will be around for many years to come, with much support from the federal government.

    I have had many many bad experiences with Air Canada. Lossing luggage, billing me twice for tickets. It's so difficult to get through on the phone lines. Plus I find them to be expensive.

    Because of them I was stuck in vancouver for 2 days. I travel alot and usually I have ID, but on this occasion I didn't have it. The only thing I had was my aeroplan card. So when I get to the airport I realize that I don't have ID, but since I've travled with Canadien before with just my canadien card it should be OK. When buying my ticket the Air Canada sales women was rude and after I told her to check my file to prove my identity she reluctenly did and after making a smartass remark I was on my way. On my way back they would't even try to use my Aeroplan card to verify my ID. So I explained to the manager and sales woman that I have no ID. Their smartass remark was to go get an ID or pay $480 for a ticket. Even though they knew I couldn't get ID since you need some ID to get a new one. I endded up taking westjet home. I wanted to call Air Canada to complain, but they don't have a complaint line...how convinient.

    I've had some pretty good experiences with Air Canada. I've only flown them on short maybe 1 1/2 hr. flights in those 20 person jets but each flight has been very comfortable, quick, smooth and everyone was very pleasant. Thumbs up for Air Canada.
