This idea sounds like it has a few details to work out. While there are plenty of lists whose contexts are similar, there are plenty of items that are the same but shouldn't be rated or reviewed in the same manner. I would be against a system that automatically consolidates reviews. However, it might be interesting to give an option to a reviewer to place their review under other relevant lists. If I left a review for a movie under one list, seeing other lists that feature that movie and having the option of which of those lists I would like to include that particular review would be interesting. However, I wouldn't want to leave a review under one list and have RIA repeat that review on other lists that I did not intend for it to go.

If we do this, won't this mean that each page is full of content that is duplicated on the other pages? I'm told that Google frowns on this practice. Maybe there's a better way to solve the problem of identical items.

I think this one would help a lot. Take a movie for example - often the same title will exist in the old RIA movies list, the Jamie McBain list, the Netflix list, an MA Duron list, and maybe even on other lists as well. Each listing for the movie might have 3-5 reviews. Wouldn't it be helpful to see all of those reviews summarized on every instance of the identical movie page?

Seems like a good idea to me, although there are certainly cases where an item (a movie for example) is on multiple lists, each with a different context. In such cases the aggregate approach might be a touch misleading.

Totally agree... there are many instances where the same item exists under several different lists all with their own reviews; would make sense for them to be grouped.

So long as we solve for items with different rating scales (perhaps by designation on this aggregated page or ignoring them entirely from this view), I think this would start to make each item page way more valuable as the best source of information on any given item or subject.
