Tue Feb 23 2010How much you like this station depends on how many re-runs of "Dog The Bounty Hunter" or "48 Hours" you're willing to sit through. I watch the station on occasion...I thought "Intervention" was worthwhile, but I have more than enough self-indulgent drunks and junkies in my own personal life without having to watch them on TV...but it makes me long for the days of pre-cable TV. Like most cable stations, it has far more commercials than free TV ever thought of having, it has as much censorship as free TV ever had...if not more, and if its "reality-TV" shows are a bit more elevated than the likes of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" or "Tough Love"...well, they're still reality-TV shows.

Fri Aug 08 2008I REALLY HAVE A PROBLEM BELIEVING THAT YOU'RE STILL SHOWING COLD CASE, AWERICAN JUSTICE, FIRST 48 AND OTHERS THAT ARE UP TO TEN YEARS OLD.DON'T YOU THINK IT'S TIME TO PUT THEM TO REST, YOU'VE DAMN SURE MADE YOUR MONEY BACK OFF COMMERCIALS. YOUR VIEWERS DESERVE MORE THAN WHAT YOU'RE GIVING US.

Sat Sep 15 2007A&E.; how is gene simmons without makeup art or entertainment.

Fri Nov 10 2006Many of the biographies are very good with fine narration. Other than that?

Mon Oct 16 2006A&E; is one of my favorite. They play some good syndicated shows and don't go nuts with the comercials.

Sat Aug 19 2006I know its been said before, but what happened here? Another channel ruined by reality/unscripted garbage. Oh there are reruns of past glory programs like Biography and Investigative Reports but the rest is illiterate unintelligent panderings under the guise of entertainment all to attract the almighty younger demographic. Come on à la carte.

Sat Mar 18 2006I love the Poriot Movies on A&E; and wish they would have mor of them. Pamela

Mon Feb 06 2006I have no idea how this channel is still around, 1st it was the old people network with murder she wrote, and biographies of dead people, at least dead to me, now its all about completely off the wall reality shows, just 1 question how are all the new shows on this channel art?

Wed Nov 30 2005love the show Mindfreak with Criss Angel. It is a great escape from the mostly depressing "criminal" shows. While i do enjoy city confidential it is always good to escape to something that is just pure entertaining.

Sat Nov 05 2005When they were one of the few "cable" channels a few years back they had consistently great programming. BUt as the competition increased it seems like there aren't enough of the good shows to go around and their overall quality has suffered.

Wed Oct 26 2005I do not know how OK the series Dog Bounty hunters. I my opinion, this is wastes money,if I see that self centered guy, with his long hear and his howl presentation, I like to take a big shower, because i feel dirty!!! and the the women with her big, UN ecstatic milk items, this is somethings for idiot's not for international TV. please, your program is right on track, dump this idiots, re pace them with something els. I am not a criminal, and have in my 69 years had never to do with the law, but if I see that guy is praying to the LORD in the way he does, please get them of the screen!!!!!

Mon Sep 26 2005Man I hope I don't run into the Mom in the world. She has a disease that could be spread airborne. She is ugly and miserable and I don't want to catch either.
by curly99
Sun Sep 25 2005I just watched the movie The Shining on A&E; and had it ruined. For every five minutes of movie it was followed by five minutes of commercials.

Sat Sep 24 2005I don't understand why people have to be so insulting. The Gotti children are ACTING their spoiled rotten parts. I believe that they are spoiled to an extent, but most of their antics are acted as well. I don't run to my tv set every time they come on, but the few times I have stopped to watch it, I laugh.

Tue Aug 23 2005i love this show my 1 year old son and victoria have one thing in common they both had open heart surgery. To see that she survived it and is doing good makes me happy.I would do anything to meet victoria ghotti and have a picture taken with her and my 1 yr old son.....I love the show. It's reality people
by concerned_human
Tue Aug 23 2005Get rid of the Gottis..They are the most worthless group of people I've ever seen..Remember folks..who her father was! I can't believe that people want to watch a bunch of rude, spoiled, not proper in any way that I noticed the 2 times I ran across it while channel surfing ..wow..what has the world come to?

Tue Jun 07 2005I like the biographies. Other than that, I forget I even have it.

Wed Feb 16 2005Narration is awesome. The perfect cross between suspensful and creepy.

Sat Feb 12 2005For me, City Confidential is the rare program which never insults your intelligence; the first ten minutes of each show really captures the city/town that is focused upon...this channel is hands down one of the better options on cable or otherwise.
by midwesterner19
Fri Feb 04 2005Good Quality Programs. Especially Biography and Bill Curtis. I also love City Confedential, its too bad Paul Winfield passed because its not as good as it was.

Sat Nov 06 2004as retarded as it will sound, i do like growing up Ghotti. I dont know why but i like it, i also really like Airline, and city confidential, but on city confidential, they need to do some more cities, i can't count how many times i have seen some of them, and they need to have that paul winfeild guy narrating again, that new guy just doesnt do it right!!!!
by tdubya71
Sun Jul 25 2004Good documentaries and biographies, but is going downhill by putting on reruns and reality crap.

Tue Jun 22 2004Very little A anymore, more E than anything.
by dwayne_brazil
Sun May 30 2004No Art anymore! Just common junk.

Mon Mar 22 2004A channel that offers a variety of programs from syndicated shows like Murder She Wrote and Third Watch to original shows like Biography, American Justice, Airline, specials like Live by Request and shows from the BBC such as Poirot and MI-5 to name a couple. The channel offers a little bit of everything and usually has quality programming. I think it would improve if it stayed away from the syndicated shows like(Murder She Wrote and Third Watch) and moved more toward original progamming, specials and shows from the BBC.

Tue Mar 16 2004I wouldn't mind them so much if they'd remove the A. Long, long time since they had ANY pretense of airing arts.

Thu Jan 08 2004Biography has gone downhill (what's so great about P. Diddy that an episode is devoted to him?), Law & Order is sorely missed, and I'm tired of looking at Bill Kurtis. On the upside there's MI-5 and other British programs, and I enjoy the Live by Request concerts. If A&E; could put MI-5 in a 90 minute timeslot so the episodes can be seen without all the cuts for US commercials, that would warrant an bump up to 4 stars.
by classictvfan47
Fri Dec 19 2003Aside from Murder She Wrote and Poriot, they don't show anything that I enjoy. Why dump Law & Order, Quincy, and Columbo? Who knows?
by londonjules
Sun Nov 02 2003I loved Horatio Hornblower and am a massive MI-5 fan. A&E shows some great programmes and makes it worth its price.
by traveltutor
Thu Oct 30 2003A&E offers a much better selection of british programming than BBC America and also does a better job at biography type shows than E!
by patsfriend
Wed Oct 29 2003Excellent programming, especially the British programs.
by canny_savvy
Wed Oct 29 2003One place where I can watch some decent BBC productions. But also, it's all that American Justice stuff . . . which bores me to tears. Love Biography but they have their own channel now.
by help_me
Wed Jun 18 2003so boring. nothing interesting at all
by joe23665
Sun Apr 20 2003Good channel. Though I HATED it when they cancelled Nero Wolfe.
by chunkylover53
Mon Feb 24 2003A&E airs some interesting documentaries and movies, but I wish they'd go back to airing some TV shows, like NewsRadio reruns. Bring those back! At least The View is gone. Good riddance to bad rubbish!
by staytherelass
Mon Feb 17 2003I love Columbo.That's all.
by ratemaster1984
Sun Feb 09 2003I enjoy Biography and many of their informative documentaries.
by jason1972
Thu Jan 23 2003I like those old Law & Order episodes.

Sat Dec 07 2002What used to be one of my favorite channels has devolved into cheap and repetitive programming. In fact, it's best to rename it the Bill Kurtis Network. That shameless non-journalist seems to be on that channel 24-7. I'm tired of violence and programming that promotes it (even when it claims to be "intelligent criticism of _____" (fill in the blank with whatever they say this week)). Kurtis has almost singlehandedly ruined a decent channel. He's just a hackneyed cliche of a "reporter", all mannerisms and lame-DJ voice. He panders to violence and illness which perpetuates the crime rate in this country, just as the majority of "journalists" do theses days. When did A&E decide to pander to the lowest common denominator? Remember when A&E showed reruns of Slap Maxwell? I would watch that over and over before suffering thru another moment of Bill Kurtis.

Sun Dec 01 2002I love this channel the same way as I love History Channel. They are so good! I like specialy Biography program.
by timbsdca
Sat Oct 12 2002Generally presents very good features.
by loneusfullhous_efan
Fri Apr 26 2002Why did they ever get rid of L A Law? Now I have no reason to watch it.
by brandlerchandl_er
Tue Oct 02 2001I like A&E because they want to buy the rights to "Early Edition," and because they show a great show "Law & Order" so much!!
by snoopy
Mon Aug 06 2001I love the NewsRadio reruns. That show is a classic, IMHO.
by callmetootie
Wed Apr 04 2001A and E used to show really good movies on Saturdays and Sundays, and they sometimes still do, but other then that, I don't watch it much.
by sweetpea
Fri Nov 17 2000A&E is a pretty good channel, but I would say it's mostly only for when you're bored and have nothing to watch. I find their Biography program to be of interest and my mother enjoys Mystery. Unless you're a big fan of Poirot of like to know about some famous person's depressing downfall, I wouldn't say it's really worth the time.
by pbhm2733om
Tue Jan 11 2000Quality programming, especially the original presentations and Biography.
