Since 05 this agency has always booked me for work. I was actually in the dog house with them for a period of time because I was late on set.....let that be a lesson to all. As long as you do the right thing then they will book you but if they think you might be flakey then they can be hesitant to use you. You also have to remember to have a good attitude.......that's what keeps me going.

I just happen to be walking on 35th looking for fabric when I over heard these grils taking in front of this buliding about how they just went to an audition upstairs. So ofcourse my nosey self had to ask If it was an open call, on what floor etc etc etc. When I went upstairs they seemed very frienddly but buisy and I watied about 15 minutes then was called upon to do what they call a cold reading. It's where you don't memorize it but just read/act it out. Although I was nervous I did well and was asked to call back ay a certain time, which I did. Then was asked if I was avaialbe on a certain dates for a film but was not unfortunatly.I was then asked to bring in a head shot to put on file for future work. Since I'm a musician I after photos from that which is what I brought in and they kept on file. After that I have been called for work at least once every week or every other week.

Doing production work I've run into actors from this agency more then a few times. I wanted to give extra work a shot for supplimental income since my other work is mostly on set anyway. They have kept me buisy during my downtime from my other job so I'm still active. I just worked on "Freinds With Kids" and not for nothing I got a couple of other pa gigs while doing extra work. What I like the most about the agency is the girls who book me ;)

I'm a musician but I do extra work to network and see who's doing what out there. I came into contact with Actors Reps a couple of years ago and have gotten loads of work. I'm not the greates looking person in the world but I'm pleasent looking enough to book the jobs and I conduct myself professionally on set. I have seen many who don't act professional on set but Actors Reps told me what was expected on set and I put the knowledge to good use......it's worked out so far.

I signed up, was told to come in periodically to check in. I was only offered audience work, yet, I was being booked for shows and movies through other agencies....The same shows/movies AR claimed they could book me on. I held up my end of the bargain by reporting on time, hair and wardrobe ready to audience work. I was told check would be ready in 2 weeks, it took 4 months. 4 months of me making NUMEROUS calls, and going to the office at least 10x's. And then he tried to tell me the rate was lower than what they originally booked me for. I had to remind him the rate at which they booked me for. They didn't have any information that I even worked the audience gig! Every time I called, I had to give my name and the dates I worked. The icing on the cake....they took their 10% immediately, and paid me the difference. UNBELIEVABLE! This is just my experience, yours may be different.

I auditioned with Actors Reps about 2 months ago. I left my headshot and resume. Shortly after Actors Reps called me and sent me on an commercial audition, it was my first legite audition and I landed it with GREAT pay! It was an LXTV promo for NBC which is currently airing. I'm also working on set for Rescue me on June 1st.. Thanks Actors Reps... Isacc Rodriguez

It's a very common scam they tell you they can get you work but you need head shots. They refer you to an expensive photographer ... MIGHT get you 1 job making pennies then you never hear from them again. My personal experience: I showed up...read a side...the guy asked me "if I had been in the business before" and told me to call back the next morning. When I called back he told me how excited they were to start working with me and that they didn't just want to have a regular "extra" relationship they wanted to send me on bit part auditions. He then put me on hold...Came back and gave me the EXACT SAME speech ... word for word as if reading from a script. He said the first thing I needed to do was get them some head shots. Before I was able to respond he put me on hold again and came back with a photographers name. I told him I didn't need a photographer as I already had head shots and asked how many they needed. He told me they look at head shots Tuesdays at 1:00 and immedi... Read more

This is a 100% scam. First of all there is no such thing as a casting agency signing someone. All the good reviews are coming from the scum bags who work for them. All the real agencies are registered on the SAG website. Please be careful, there are so many scams in NYC and people are so desperate they are willing to just give money. No agency will ever have you take head shots through them. All casting agencies only take submissions, they never have you randomly come to an open audition. This place only has a license because people who fall for their scam of paying for head shots, they maybe get them one small job, so the company won't get shut down. Always looking up companies and make sure they are registered with the union. They keep posting on Craig's List, so if you see an "audition" with their phone number in it, don't respond. DON'T EVER PAY FOR HEAD SHOTS THROUGH AN AGENCY.

by Richard N. 5 Actors Reps Of Ny Hi Guys, I'm just in from work on the set of "MERCY", right off the heels of "WALL STREET 2" with Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas, "SWEET LORRAINE" with Tatum O'Neal, "THE ADJUSMENT BUREAU" with Matt Damon, and "THE OTHER GUYS" with Mark Wahlberg. I had to write to you all to say how truly thankful I am that you got me started. In exactly 4 weeks, you got me from head shot to set to set to set. Richard, your no-nonsense truth and guidance, humor and knowledge of this business is brilliant "right down to the staple." Fiona, you're all that and, thankfully, much prettier to look at and sweeter to listen to. And, of course, "the girls." You're the best! I've just joined your online service because I not only trust and believe in ACTORS REPS, I feel there's more to come. I always talk you up on the set, where everyone thinks my head shot is great, and can't believe my resume was built in such a short amount of time. I can't believe it either... Read more

by Vanessa V I have been a client with Actors Reps on/off for about 7 years. I was surfing the net researching Acting Agents when I came across Actors reps. I was curious to see what people were saying. I was a bit surprised when I saw some of the negative reviews but also realized that the person writing these negative reviews seems to be the same person writing them over and over again on different sites just rephrasing there same points. I personally have never experienced any of their complaints. I would take it with a grain of salt.

Actors Reps Of Ny is Wonderful by Martin M. 5 Actors Reps Of Ny I have been a client of Actor's Reps for a little over a year now and I have only good things to say about Richard, and his staff. When I first went to AR, I knew nothing about show business or what to do to get started. Not only did they help me get my headshots, they also helped me put together my resume, and that very day they booked me in my first movie. Since then they've booked on several tv shows and many feature films. I highly recommend Actor's Reps to anyone who wants to get started in tv or movies

by Dale C C. 5 Actors Reps Of Ny To All Actors: I was raised to believe that everyone has the right to speak their mind. However, I do take exception to the aspersions posted on City Search & Insider Pagers concerning Actors Reps as being disreputable and underhanded in their business practices. Nothing is further from the truth. I have never met a more hard working or dedicated staff as Richard Brannan and his office personnel and I say to you that malign them SHAME ON YOU!! Do you have any idea of what it takes to work day after day in this business dealing with personalities that have need to express themselves in multi-medias? And YES, as actors we need the services provided by agents such as Actors Reps that work hard and dedicate themselves to provide opportunities for all actors. Through Actors Reps I have had those opportunities on a number of T.V. and movies as an extra that I would never have had. Actors Reps works very hard to create those linkages with their clients a... by Danielle L. 4 Actors Reps Of Ny I don't understand why some of theese people are putting up negative reviews that are so far from the truth. For a few months I was in there in house database and then decided that I want to work for them more. So I re-auditioned last week (the girl was extremely nice) I gave her my resume and headshot (although she wasn't to pleased with my current headshot I was NEVER once asked to use there guy... I'm bringing them a new headshot by next week). Anyway, I called the next day and they booked me on an audience job (yes and audience job, and anybody with a brain knows that to find your way to the top you must start at the bottom. Theese people are helping you do that. Plus if you are really in it for the acting, you wont care if it's audience or not. I am very pleased and cannot wait to start working on more projects with them like gossip girl and 30 rock. As far as the getting hung up on and fast talking, thats completely normal in this industry. Act... Read more

Actors Reps is a way to get started by Melody C. 4 Actors Reps Of Ny It takes hard work, persistence, and determination to make it in this industry. A gig will not be handed to you and we all have to start some where. My experience with actors reps has been a wonderful learning experience. It is a great way to get your foot in the door and learn the necessary traits of what it takes to be successful in this industry. I've worked directly with Ray Weir and he was extremely supportive of helping me get started. He taught me how to put together a resume and he even contacted me first hand with upcoming projects that they were getting in the office day to day. On the flip side, because this is a competitive business it was very hard to get through on the days that clients are supposed to check in for work. Eventually, if you want to further develop and grow as an actor, you do have to seek better representation. Actors Reps is an excellent place to get started just to "learn the ropes" s... Read more

I was in New York for about a week, getting myself geared up for an acting career, and found this small ad on Craigslist saying they are looking for extras, and to go ahead and email them my name and phone number for more info. I did this, asking for more info of course, but I got none. Just a hey, come see us today after 4. But I was curious and new, so I went, got some small paragraph to read for an audition, and upon completion of the reading, I was told to call their CEO, at 10:30AM or so the next day. I did this and he said that they are very interested in me, and that they want to start using me regularly as an extra so I can get some experience. Next he told me that I needed to bring him a resume and headshot, and as I started to tell him that I didn't have them, he then told me that I am new at this, so we're gonna do it the right way. He gave me the number of a photographer named Jerry, told me to make an appointment with him, and to call him right back when I do, at ... Read more

Unfortunately on these web pages people can say what they want, weather it be true or false. This individual has said slanderous things. Modernage has been in business since 1944, in fact they own the building. Most professional named and unnamed actors have used Modrenage for reprints. 90% of the people that come through Actors' Reps doors have there own headshots. Only on request do we refer headshot photographers and there are several. Actors' Reps is a licensed agency, licensed by the NYC Dep. Of Consumer Affairs. Actors' Reps has been in business for over 34 years. We have a flawless reputation with the Dept. Of Consumer Affairs. Anyone can go and make a complaint to the Dept. of Consumer Affairs. We would appreciate if this individual would make the complaint so we can take appropriate action.

We should do something about it and get these thieves out of business. They are scammers making money on naive people like us. Actor Reps at 1501 Broadway 3rd floor owned by a guy named Richard, Jerry Zales Photo at 153 West 27th st and MODERNAGE at 1150 AV of the Americas are all scam artists. There has to be a way we dismantle this chain of petty thieves who are making tons of money. How do you think they can afford the rent at such prime locations? Richard is the master ring leader who sends you to the mediocre Puerto Rican Macho who thinks he is God's gift to the arts. Jeff from retouches badly a pic who is good for nothing. Then this idiot sends you to Modernage another scammer who prints poor head shots and overcharges people. I am willing to present a legal complaint to the authorities for deceiving unprofessional practices with the intention to deceive people and scam them. Richard has no jobs. He gets all his jobs from Backstage.

I looked at all the sites and every positive review for this place is replicated word for word like a script on each site. The positive reviews are completely written by the company. The reason for this is that this place is a joke..especially for the inexperienced(me). They tell you how great you are...bla bla..then rush you through seemingly important phone calls with this man who doesn't even let you talk..See? then you think he's all busy and important. Next thing you know you are agreeing to pricey headshots. The gals in the office are just awful. They are the rudest "young women" I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with...especially over the phone when they ..surprise! hang up on you! First of all, the positive reviews for Actor's Reps are written by people affiliated with them! If you don't believe me read reviews on some other sites and you will find the same "great" reviews word for word!! What a rip off! Actor's Reps will send you to a photographer they work with behind closed doors who will charge you$270 for grade C photos. THe photographer is borderline rude, thinks he's a big shot and has lots of half-naked girls posted all over his boards. He could care less if your hair, clothes or make-up is photo ready and he takes the same shots in the same poses over and over. He talks you into paying extra for touch-up and doesn't do a damn thing to the photos. I'm sure he splits the money with Actor's Reps. The girls there are not very polite, are always too busy eating, doing their nails or chatting to even acknowledge that you're standing there and barely answer the phone. They are making tons of money on people's dreams of show-biz success and I hope ... Read more
