Wed Sep 09 2009Although it sports an iconic cover that many fans have travelled to Abbey Road to replicate, I don't think it's their best work - I've only listened to this album once and just didn't find it to be as memorable as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or some of their even older work such as Let It Be. If you're new to the Beatles I'd recommend trying out "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band " first as it feels like it's a more accessible album. I should point out though that I do like this album as well, just not as much. My favourite track from this album is "Here Comes The Sun"

Mon Jun 23 2008Another great one from the Fab Four. Probably their tightest album musically.

Mon Jun 23 2008Perhaps the best album the Beatles came up with. A wide range of styles and rithms. I take it as their masterpiece.

Thu Jan 04 2007A true masterpiece! It's hard to believe this recording was made during a time of internal turmoil. It shows the tremendous talent these men have in writing songs and their musicianship.

Tue Mar 28 2006The final nail in the coffin of the 2:35 pop tune. Sad to say that monster rose from the dead when radio became worthless. Every cut on Abbey Road was brilliant. While the studio may have been a band in chaos, the album's production is flawless and the songs are like no others.

Mon Mar 13 2006Abbey Road, if you did not know, was the Beatles last album they recorded together, Let It Be was released later. It is probably one of the best packages of music ever put together, bar none. With tracks like Oh Darling, Come Together and Some Thing how can you go wrong. One of the best albums of the best band ever.

Sat Nov 12 2005If they had to finally leave us, this was certainly a great way to bow out. Their voices and intruments were never better as these four who represented (and still do!) the Mount Olympus of Rock and Roll left us with a chasm that has yet to be filled. The final entry in ten and a half hours of brilliant music and billions of memories for billions of lifetimes. Each day brings new legions of Beatles fans, but there will never be another entity remotely like the Beatles. The whirling dervish of song fragments on the second side of this record that ends with Paul's uplifting message remains the equal of any words uttered by any of the world's greatest of philosophers. "...And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love ...you make." A truly remarkable album that stands the test of time.

Fri Nov 04 2005McCartney's songs really let down this album Oh!Darling...give me a break

Fri Nov 04 2005They went out on a high note. There is something of everything from their career on the album but all done with subtle grace. It serves their legacy well.

Wed Jul 13 2005I haven't pulled out this CD in awhile. . .but it's still a damn good album.

Wed Jul 13 2005This is my favorite album. I actually didn't really care for it all that much the first time I listened to it, but after a few listens I changed my mind, and after many it slowly beat out the White Album as my top. The medley is amazing and I love that they come back to You Never Give Me Your Money at the very end to tie it all up. Octopus is not my favorite song, but then, there is a song or two on pretty much all the albums I don't particularily care for. Her Majesty has always driven me crazy. I never let the album play through that song because after you come through The End, it's just so out of place and disrupts everything else. Anyways, still my favorite album of the best band of all time.

Fri Apr 01 2005Very strong, almost entirely, although the weak spots are so very weak they are like tattoos on the face of the Mona Lisa.

Mon Jul 26 2004Definitely in the Beatles Top Three (behind The White Album and Sgt. Pepper). These masterworks from a band that was about the break up? All four were writing songs of themselves, but the magic was there. Because and Something are songs I could hear every day and never tire of.

Sat Jul 03 2004An album ahead of it's time.

Thu Jun 03 2004Octopus's Garden and Here Comes the Sun are two classic songs that are both delightfully goofy and highly optimistic respectfully. Thre rest of the album is unremarkable.

Sat Apr 10 2004The final album they recorded, Abbey Road is the last of the post-boy band Beatles albums I've purchased, and I think it's a dead heat with Pepper as their best. The Sun King medly is one of the masterpieces of rock music, I could listen to that over and over again. The segue from Pam to Window is what it's all about. Killer disc from the great recording act of all time.

Mon Feb 23 2004This is one of my alltime favorite CDS ever! It is so great and outstanding... The electric of the guitar playing in the late 60's I belive to very fascinating at the time. Each song was very special and very uniqute in it's own way. It really made me smile when I had listened to this CD! Well worth of my time that is for sure.

Wed Dec 03 2003Released in 1969, Abbey Road was the Beatles at their best and was the last to be recorded (though Let It Be was released afterwards). Abbey Road flows nicely, and if one only owns one release by the Beatles, this is the one, plus one gets a picture of barefooted McCartney on the cover. The release has a relatively strong Harrison influence with Something and Here Comes The Sun as well as some signature Beatles tunes: Come Together, Oh! Darling, and I Want You (She's So Heavy). As others have noted, the release ends with a medley of sorts including You Never Give Me Your Money, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, and Carry That Weight which is probably the most enjoyable portion of the LP.

Wed Nov 26 2003The Beatles redeemed themselves after the catastrophic infighting of the Let it Be sessions. Come Together and Oh! Darling are standouts on Side 1, and Side 2 is characterized by little bits of melody that form a pop opera, as John Lennon called it. Though Lennon stated he did not like the pop opera it's actually very effective. We're given brief character sketches of Mean Mr Mustard(always shouts out something obsscene),Polythene Pam (she's so good-looking that she looks like a man) and the characters in She Came in Through the Window (and so I quit the police dept/and got myself a steady job). These people are interesting and we might like to learn more about them, but time is short, and we have to accept these brief glimpses. With Abbey Road, the Beatles signed off with class and dignity.

Fri May 30 2003One of the must have albums in my collection. I been through 4 cd's of Abbey Road already, and I am due for a fifth. Awsome album.

Thu May 08 2003a brillant piece of work and very influence as all their work is.

Tue Apr 22 2003Quite possibly their best album. The opener Come Together just slides in with that great bass-line. Next up Someting, one of the great beatles songs. Putting on this album with its huge melodies, beautiful guitar lines, great lyrics and superb musicianship is always a treat. The string of songs at the end of the album though is my favourite. In my opinion the second half of Abbey Road is one of the greatest passage of music recorded in the later half of the 20th century. My only problem with the album is the fact that ringo sings the word 'happy' twice in the same sentance in 'Octopuses Garden'. I dont know why, but it annoys me.

Wed Oct 16 2002I named my daughter after this album, that's how much I loved it! All great tracks. They definitely saved the best for last during the group's last years.

Thu Jun 13 2002Simply one of the greatest albums by The Beatles- Abbey Road is the definition of "Masterpiece". There's not one song on this album that I skip through. Everyone is worth listening to. My personal favorites being Something, Here Comes the Sun (Being written by my man-George!), Sun King, She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, etc. They're all great! Every single person should purchase this album-Beatle Fan or not-it's enjoyable for everyone.

Wed May 08 2002A lot of really great songs here. In my opinion this is one of the best Beatles albums ever, I love I want you (she's so heavy). Why does Her Majesty just suddenly cut off?

Fri Feb 01 2002Probably my favorite Album by the Beatles. Just a great end to their run as one of the best bands.

Fri Oct 19 2001The single greatest album of all-time. The way the songs flow together makes it such an album that is you so enthusiastically listen to. The medley Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End one of my favorites of all-time. Listening to this gives you such a sensation like no other. It is the best final album by a band and the best album ever.

Sun Jul 15 2001One of the top reasons why they're legends. Maybe all their talent cause people to be jealous & give them bad ratings??????
by hectic_life
Sun Jul 15 2001True masterpiece. Showcases each & every member's talent, with George Harrison shining on "Something" (the original power ballad) and "Here Comes the Sun". And after hearing "Come Together" and "Octopus's Garden" who can't get theose songs out of your head?
by granfalloon
Fri Jul 13 2001This is the Beatles' greatest album and an undeniable rock classic. It's full of wry humor and an experimental edge like the White album, except with more polished, experienced-sounding production and arrangements! Whether listening to the clever, humorous escapism of "Maxwell Silver Hammer" and "Octopus's Garden", the mellow but expressive "Something" or the hard-edged "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" I can't help but smile. It's such a clever, well-planned, well-produced album with expertly crafted songs. Rock wouldn't be the same without it!

Tue May 01 2001For some strange reason, the Beatles just never really did anything for me.

Tue May 01 2001One of the top 10 albums of all-time.
by dancinbob
Mon Apr 09 2001This is the last album that the Beatles recorded together and they were every bit as fresh and entertaining as when they started. Side two (for those who remember albums) was revolutionary in the way the music melted from one song to the other.

Wed Mar 28 2001Being a Beatle fan since 1964,it's always been a tough call when someone asks me my favourite Beatles album.Having the boxed set of CDs these days,Abbey Road seems to get the most stereo time.It sounds like it was recorded yesterday, not 32 years ago.A bloody masterpiece!
by beatles_fan_4_ever
Tue Mar 20 2001Best album by anyone, EVER!!!! I'm surprised that none of the usual critics blasted this one. Why not? Did the boys finally do something with more than 3 cords? I am one of those who will always wonder what would.ve been forthcoming if this hadn't been the last recording as the original group.

Thu Mar 08 2001In my opinion, "Abbey Road" is The Greatest Rock/Pop Album Ever Recorded. After raising the bar with "Sgt. Pepper," they proved just how much they could do with this beauty. "Come Together" is a classic opener with John's charged vocals and Paul's chunky bass lines. "Something," George's second best song (on the album, and overall), comes next- 'tis a wonderful melody, and I always love to hear George's voice. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is a blast, "Oh! Darling" is a fun tune, in which Paul promises he'll never whack her with any silver hammers and I'm starting to enjoy "Octopus's Garden" more and more. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a great energized song which starts vamping until "Here Comes the Sun," one of those feel-good songs that just makes you want to cry. It was actually written about freedom from so many Apple Records contracts, and I like to think the song is saying "here comes THE SECOND SIDE." And the atmospheric "Because" comes next followed by the series of inge... Read more

Fri Feb 09 2001This album is phenomonal. I'm a HUGE George Harrison fan and I can't see how you can dislike Here Comes the Sun and Something. These 2 are my favorite Beatles songs. I also enjoyed Come Together. I wish I were there when their albums came out. I would have enjoyed it no dought. I get teased a lot because I'm only 13 and I'm a big Beatles fan, but I brush it off because I find them so fascinating and I just can't stop listening to their music. Abbey Road is a great example of the Beatles masterpieces. It's too bad it had to end. I thoroughly enjoy every song on this album. I love it with passion. It's probably my favorite Beatles album. A timeless masterpiece of great songs. What else can I say?

Mon Jan 15 2001Great music by the world's greatest. You can see the individual talent of each player. There will never be this much talent available in such a group. These guys really changed the world.

Thu Jan 11 2001Whoever thinks the chain of songs toward the end of Abbey Road are "filler" just doesn't get it. These short brilliant pieces build one on another and culminate in one of the most satisfying climaxes I've ever heard on a recording. As good as the rest of the album is, these "filler" cuts are absolute genius. One of the best and most influential pop albums of the rock era.
