I am truly and honestly surprised a Touch of frost isn't ranked as no.1 here. It has being ranked numerous times as the "Number 1 Detective show in the UK" and I couldn't possibly agree more. Jack Frost is a character to get into very easily. He is sarcastic, full of flaws and at times even questionably unhygienic. He's got a nose for detective work like no other always annoying his superiors. I love the fact that his instincts never fail him always thinking independently from his peers. This series wouldn't be as successful if the storylines were not as brilliant and deeply dramatic. Some cases are even to controversial for american tv, like the case of the mentally handicapped teen ager accused of murdering a child. EMOTIONAL TO THE MAX! I specially enjoy how most movie episodes seem to always have two parallel cases side by side that seem to end up related at the end. Very different, very original. The writer R. D. Wingfield is just such an out-of-the-box thinker, he's a genius. ... Read more

I love Jack Frost. He is a real human being with all the usual insecurities and faults. But he is also a very kind soul who wants nothing more than justice. This show is suspenseful and very well acted.

Simply the best. Certainly it is on a par with Morse, although Frost is an entirely different type of character.

The show is simply fantastic with David Jason in the title role. Frost is cranky, unorganized, funny, caring, bold, friendly, and a good cop. A Touch of Frost is a very good show.

Pretty solid. Frost is a semi-inept cop, bad with authority and paperwork, and not above a bit of a fiddle. He does have an instinct for crime and a bulldog tenacity that replaces brilliance. Well worth watching, and frequently funny.

Frost is NOT appreciated by the "brass" because of his sloppy administrative work and lack of professionalism. However... they can't fault his canny intuition which helps him solve some very complex murders. Often called on the carpet by his boss, Superintendent Mullet, Frost always gives as good as he gets. He may act gruff around the detective trainees they assign to him... but the trainees quickly learn he has a heart of gold. His wry comments throughout each episode always make me smile. Highly recommended.

I love Frost; he makes me laugh: he's funny, he's irreverent, and he's cocky, not an ounce of deference in his bones. You might says he's like a cocker spaniel that can curl up on your lap if he likes you or nip at your heels if he doesn't, as in the way he treats his lady friends or his boss Mullet, respectively. I never want an episode to end and wish there could be more of them. David Jason is perfect in the role. Fans are able to relate to and admire the character's passion and dedication to his job. When he's going through a rough patch, such as when his house caught on fire or his girlfriend ended their relationship, we empathize with him. But his sense of humour manages to make it all right again: plenty of colourful jargon and biting asides.

Frost is certainly a likable character. Always prone to get emotionally involved in his cases, Frost can at times be a bit of loose cannon on deck. I've always found the interrogation scenes the most memorable. Frost grills his suspects with the type of vigor and tenacity you'll rarely see in a detective series.

Although I find Frost just half a cut below Morse, I still enjoyed the series. Frost is perhaps the most human of the cops in any of the series. Gets into trouble a lot, is often stubborn (especially when he's right), fights the system, and has just about the right amount of irreverence for my taste.
