Tue Feb 02 2010A Haunting was a decent show for the Discovery channel. Take it for it's entertainment value and not it's truth value and it is a great show. Considering that Discovery replays the heck out of the episodes (cancelled) it obviously still has an audience. The Discovery channel should consider bringing it back. It's not like they have a whole lot going on for themselves right now honestly, besides staples like Cash Cab, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, but even those shows are puttering out. A Haunting may not fit the theme of the network, but it has high entertainment value and a loyal audience, it would be stupid not to bring it back really.

Mon Feb 01 2010"A Haunting" is a fairly basic show. The stories all start, continue and end the same way. You're never surprised by something new. The show always uses stories about demons, which I find redundant and pointless as there are other types of phenomenon out there they could cover. As far as the reenactments go, they're alright but sometimes just too over dramatic. For the most part, if you've seen one episode, you've seen them all. It may just be my usual lack of observation skills, but every single family I've seen on that show move into a two-story house, have relationship problems, and usually never believe each other about anything until they witness someone get thrashed around in a really windy room(And in some stories, they still deny any possibility of something weird going on). One thing about their stories that always seem to bug me, are the "experts" these people bring to their homes. For example, Lorraine Warren. She's in a lot of the episodes as this wonderful "expert" that ... Read more

Mon May 25 2009This show is all about personal accounts. It is okay, except they only seem to focus on one type of haunting, which is the demonic haunt. My guess is that those types of haunts make for the best TV because they produce varied reactions in people and they also produce varied paranormal events. Even so, the show is fairly tame in the scary department. If they wanted to improve, they could try to make it a little more educational by branching out into different types of haunts. The acting in the show is fairly believable but the special effects need some work. Overall, it's not bad for daytime TV, but I can't help but think that if you've seen one episode, you've seen them all.

Fri Sep 26 2008Discovery channel claims that they are "The #1 nonfiction media company" in the world. I'd believe it if it weren't for "A Haunting." This show insults my intelligence and I'm always quick to change the channel. This show should be dumped into the hands of the programming geeks over at Sci-Fi network.

Wed Mar 19 2008As daytime entertainment this is a decent show. However Discovery has always been about having shows that educate and inform as well as entertain and in that way this show fails miserably. The episodes are formed around unverified personal accounts and embellished by special effects to the degree that they become little more then a type of urban legend, too amazing to believe. Don t think that being on Discovery makes this show anything more then modern fantasy.

Thu Mar 01 2007I look forward to Thursdays because of this show. It opens your eyes to how much we don't know about the world we live in and it adds relevance to the reasons to be spiritually armed, prepared and aware.

Sun Mar 26 2006less of special effects and dramatization.. what makes this show great is a simple narration of actual incidents with least of effort to add spices to original story. knowing that it is real, it has chilled me more than even my favorite horror - The Ring.
