Maybe its unfair to pass judgement on something I saw exactly once, but it looked like basic formulaic shite to me. Besides, it had that worthless, untalented, godawful hack John Ritter in it. Just how bad an actor was John Ritter? Let me put it this way. I've seen Vegas blackjack dealers act more sympathetic when they clean you out than this buffoon could ever act.

I think it was a good idea when they decided not to replace the character of Paul Hennesey like they did on Bewitched. Ritter's death hurt 8 Simple Rules very badly. It managed to last a couple of years after Ritter died. Let me be honest. Without Ritter, this show stunk. They hired James Garner and David Spade to star in this show after Ritter died. But even with those two great actors, this show just wasn't the same. I give this sitcom a 2 star rating.

Yea they picked attractive teens to bolster the show but the depth and writting of the show was not up to par. I loved John Ritter's work on 3's Company but this show was no where near that funny.

Sadly, the show's death blow was when John Ritter died. As good as David Spade and James Garner are, they could not deliver the show.

The only reason to watch this show because you wanted to see Jack Tripperhave children. Now that Jack has passed the show should have stopped. The death of John turned this comedy into a bad Drama. Its like Van Halen turned Dolly Parton.

This show is awesome, its a shame that John Ritter died but the show is being kept alive and kicking with the talents of Katey Sagal,Amy Davidson,Kaley Cuoco,Martin Spanjers and the writers and now with James Garner and David Spade joining in the show is still as awesome and funny

John Ritter made this show watchable and fun. Then when he(shockingly) past away the shows haven't been very funny. The only amusing part is David Spane and even he dosn't make me rush home and watch this.

People, this show isn't so bad. So, John Ritter died. (Unfortunatly, the show focused mainly on him.) But think of what it still has. Katey Sagal plays a good mom, and I love her acting. The girls still play good teenagers, and CJ was a good addition to the show. Not my all time favorite show, but enjoyable nevertheless.

Really rubbish! Typical American teenage sitcom...Maybe its me but I find American sitcom (this being a case example)humour to be repetitve, boring, and above all unimaginative... Though you would like it if your 13...

i like it despite the fact that john ritter died, its not the show's fault though, give them a break, they are still really funny. But what's the deal with the grandparents? they were having sex on thanksgiving, and then they started hating eachother again, i think that both of the grandparents should live with the family, not just the grandpa, who is now, my favorite charecter!

Not as funny now that John Ritter's gone. He was so awesome! it was wierd how he died the same day as Johnny Cash.

What happened to TGIF? It used to be a breeding ground of high-concept family sitcoms like Family Matters (genius kid who can clone himself, etc.) and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. Now, its just the typical family-sitcom fodder. Lacking the charming parental dialogue of the classic Leave it to Beaver, this show is just another one not to watch. So typical as to boggle the mind, the show tanked even further with the departure of John Ritter's character. They had a main character die--on what is supposed to be a COMEDY! Now, an off-screen death (ala Chuckles the Clown) can be good for laughs because we aren't emotionally invested in the characters. But, this was just another excuse to bring angst and boring reality into yet another sitcom. Uninspired to a fault, this show goes to show that a creative touch in today's sitcoms is DESPERATELY needed.

As horrible as it sounds, this show has vastly improved since John Ritter's death. Before it was largely insipid and relied on the same old family sitcom gags and jokes, now with the addition of James Garner and David Spade, it has new life. While the eldest girl Bridget irritates me, everyone else has settled into a fun and unique comedy. Not fantastic but now its at least enjoyable.

OH...MY....GOD!!! This show is so lame! Insipid, boring, and just plain stupid. I pity the people who actually think this show is worth watching. To these people--please re-evaluate your life and find something better to do with your free time. John Ritter deserved better--RIP.

This definitely must see TV. Now that John Ritter is gone the storyline will reflect the sadness, but it is the fact that they are bringing the venerable actor James Garner in that will keep all of us watching. A great cast and excellent acting by all.

One of the better silly comedies with familiar faces. Comedy doesn't require complex plots, so I enjoy it as a nice, mindless, good laughter TV time. Although most of the time my TV is on NBC, this is one of the times I tune elsewhere. Good for ABC.

Makes me long for the inane antics of Jack Tripper. Family fare aimed at not distracting too much from the toilet paper ads.

Having two teenage daughters our family finds this show very funny and real. The redhead,Kerry is quite good and the cast overall appears to "click" together. John Ritter is great as always.

Like with "Less Than Perfect", I had never seen an episode of this show, just the (endless) previews. And like with "Less Than Perfect", those previews were enough to turn me off to the show. The daughters are two of the nastiest little b**ches I have EVER seen on TV, especially the blonde. And they call this a "family" show?

I love this show. Now I can see how I acted when I was 15 years old. This a show that an entire family can enjoy and relate to. ABC has finally made it's comeback. Great job.
