I see that the reviews and comments on Eight O'Clock Columbian Whole Bean coffee have changed from earlier dates, ie 2003 - 2007. It did used to be the best. Lately it smells gross, tastes not so good and the only way I can drink it is with a flavored creamer. I normally drink my coffee black so as to get all the flavor. Done that for years. I wrote the company and they sympathized with my complaints and sent me a coupon for the coffee. I want the good coffee back. They have made more changes than just the bags. That's when it all began. It does not smell like coffee when I grind it, when it brews or in the cup. Who do they think they are fooling, anyway?

What the heck happened to my coffee? Eight O' Clock has been my staple for years. I buy the whole bean in the brown package and grind it to expresso strength. The last two packages (since December 2010) have been a disappointment. Not the same coffee I was used to, at all. I agree completely with the other poster. Three stars because it used to be five.

Excellent coffee. If you love Colombian supremo you'll love this type of coffee. It's standard coffee, not overly roasted or burnt like $tarbuck$' coffee is. You can even easily find cupons for this coffee and most supermarkets have it on sale.

I have to admit that I wouldn't have even tried it but my Brother and his wife had the 8 O'clock Hazelnut at their house and it was very good. Most flavored coffees don't do it for me for everyday use but once home I found myself wanting this brand. I haven't tried the regular but I do know the hazelnut is quite good.

It is THE BEST! I love the Colombian, and some of the others too. My home-brewed Eight O'Clock coffee tastes better than any coffee house, period.

8 o'clock is the best value we've found. We also buy the whole bean and grind to use. We also agree starbuck's has a burnt flavor.

I drive out of my way to the only store I know that sells Eight O'Clock Columbian beans. It brews up a rich, full-bodied cup with a slightly sweet edge and absolutely no bitterness. The price has gone up considerably in the last two years and the availabliltiy has gone down. About half the time I drive out of my way to pick up a bag, there are none available and I won't buy the other varieties. Be careful not to get stuck with a bag of the Original! It's not even close. I never bother with any flavored coffees.

I've been drinking coffee for 50 years all over the planet. My favorite is from the island of Sulawesi In Indonesia. It's name is Kalosi Toraja. It was a Dutch gourmet coffee. A very close second is what looks like a generic brand. It used to only come in a red package and it is 8 o'Clock Bean. I prefer the Columbian whole bean variety which comes in a flavor lock 13 oz. bag. Pricing was around $3.00/bag although it seems to have just gone through a price hike. I just saw it today at the local supermarket chain for $4.29. Still worth the money.

Eight O'Clock coffee tastes just as rich as any coffeehouse cup of coffee. Very good rich flavor. Tastes even better than Starbuck's, because it doesnt taste burnt.

This is the best coffee I have found. It is a nice roast, consistent, and flavorful. Also, the best value.

An outstanding supermarket coffee. I like to buy the whole bean variety and grind it fresh. It has a deep, rich flavor, but not bitter. Great for breakfast, dessert or after dinner.

8 o'clock is perhaps the best coffee one can find in the grocery store. It has a strong, rich flavor and, if made correctly, can rival any store in a great cup of coffee.
