If anyone were to get belligerent with a police officer there is a good chance that they will be arrested. Race hardly plays a roll as far as that goes.
Officers do not get paid to be abused. They are, however, paid to keep the peace.

I beg to differ slightly. Cops should, and the reasonable ones do, expect a certan amount of abuse. How they handle said abuse, is what separates the good from the bad.

I draw the not exact parallell to my own part time job as a sports official. I will take a certain amount of abuse, but cross a line and you're done.
