Prominent Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates arrested at his Home in Cambridge, MA 1

Every incident that involves Black people and White people must be racism on the part of the White person. That’s the default position most Blacks hold in this country, and that’s what we saw in Gates, only it seems that he really really dislikes white cops.

Thanks for articulating the position of "most Blacks", "White person".

You're welcome "Old Person"

Now Fit, I think he has a point. (damn) The esteemed professor went into the situation with a big ass "because I'm black" chip on his shoulder, and according to a good portion of the reports, it dominated the exchange.

fitman commented 8 days ago.
I suspect that's the case, Numbah. That's why I said it's likely that the professor caused to cop to lose his temper.

Who said the cop lost his temper? I never heard that one.

jimtaverna commented 8 days ago.
Once the tapes hit the street, we may get some answers, although even the cop isn't sure if the audio captures the action inside.

Outside, according to police and eyewitness accounts, the prof became a crotchity old prick and decided to ratchet it up a bit.

Wiseguy commented 8 days ago.
I would like Fitman to tell us where he got that information about the cop losing his temper.

fitman commented 8 days ago.
I believe the fact that an arrest was made is prima facie evidence of the fact that the officer lost his temper.

It's called, "...punishment first; trial afterward."

Wiseguy, you're doing that thing again where you take one data point, and draw sweeping conclusions from it. Just like it's tough to make conclusions on global warming based on Louie reporting a cool stretch in Ohio, it may be a bit silly to pronounce anything about a "default position Blacks hold" based on one cranky Harvard professor.

I'm not a statistician, but I'm told that they frown on this sort of analysis.

fitman commented 8 days ago.
Let's not rush to judgement here, Magellan. I mean it's possible the Wiseguy actually polled "most Blacks ... in this country". Isn't it?

;-)

This always starts out with some black dude, whether it be Al Sharpton, or the dozen of other black leaders pointed to racism. How many times have we argued a point about incidents where whites are always having to defend a claim of racism, and it turns out none existed? This case is a perfect example, only this time the race flames were stoked by the president. It’s always race (100% of the time) with blacks. how many times have you seen white people race bait? You don’t need a poll to recognize that, just get out a little more.

You want to see something you’ve never seen before (Black racism) come visit Detroit.

and guys, everything isn't based on polls and stats, it comes from living the experience, admitting what is reality, common sense,(which I know one of you have) and going so far as to putting it out there because nobody on your team will. if you contend my opinion (s) are off base here, back it up with something.

If I might be so bold as to do some profiling of my own, Gates is part of a generation of elderly American men who have "seen things" in their time and, in the morning, when they are getting ready for their day, as their last act of personal grooming, slide the Race Card into their shirt pocket...not hoping to use it, but ready at all times to whip it out...which he did.

magellan commented 7 days ago.
@ridge or women! My grandmother is pretty quick with the race card as well. It's a pretty easy way to explain away lots of unpleasant things.

FranksWildYears commented 7 days ago.
I'll admit that I sometimes explain things away as people judging me for being too Icelandic.

(No, I don't believe a word of the above. I just posted it to show how absurd the above review really is.)

Wiseguy commented 7 days ago.
How bad is racism on Mars?, fit.

Great clip. Bowie claims he wrote that tune in the hope that Sinatra would record it. It would have been cool to see. I think the closest we'll ever get is Mel Torme's reading of the Was (not Was) song Zaz Turned Blue.
