Dogs are more intelligent

Ventoux1's rating:

Ventoux1's review:

I've had cats and dogs and love them both. But that independence and aloofness of the feline could be intelligence or stupidity. I was never sure. The cats would react to familiar household sounds -food preparation, vacuum, garage door - but never seemed to recognize any verbal commands. Did they get it and were refusing disdainfully to react? Or were they not very bright? My dog, on the other hand, recognizes a variety of verbal commands and behaves accordingly. I feel the trainability of dogs indicates superior intelligence. There must be someone on RIA with some animal experimentation experience who can confirm that, because a monkey can be trained to do more complex tricks than a rat, this is evidence of greater intelligence in the monkey.
