This is one of the finest hotels anywhere in America. It offers the finest in hospitality, service and amenities. The rooms are spectacular -- decorated with Italian marble, beautifully framed artwork, carved wood finishings and views of the harbor or city skyline. Believe me -- this is one of the best hotels in the world. As a bonus: They host a major wine festival that stretches from early Jan thru March -- offering some of the finest wines in the US and from around the world. A great experience. If you can afford it, do it.

Cold Stone Creamery offers the best ice cream in Chicago, in my opinion. Homemade style ice cream, in weird flavors and with great candy mix-ins. The people working in these places are usually a hoot. (Why CS is listed under coffee shops and not ice cream parlors, I have no idea. But whatever.) It is just great ice cream.

Triton is very good. I stayed there last year. It is hip and trendy, as anyone can tell you. I do wish that the building itself were better maintained or renovated. There's a difference between staying in a beautiful old hotel and staying in a hotel that's just old. In terms of the rooms: I felt like I was in a very old room that had new weird furniture thrown in. I for one prefer to stay in a place that feels newer and immaculate -- you know?

This hotel is gorgeous. I saw my brother's room when he stayed here, and it was great. The lobby is amazing. The Grand Cafe is a great place to grab a drink before dinner. It is truly a beautiful hotel, and if I ever go back to SF I will splurge for this place.

Of all the Einstein's in Chicago, this one might have the best service. The poeple here actually seem to have a stake in doing a good job -- unlike most Einstein's. The food is typical Einstein's: the bagels are kind of lame, but consistent.

I went to Panera bread after hearing rave reviews from people who had obviously not been to a place lke, say, Corner Bakery. Panera Bread was kind of dirty, kind of annoying, and the service was bad. The food was mediocre at best. No care taken whatsoever.

This is part of the Lettuce Entertain You group, which is responsible for some of the best casual dining in Chicago. It is a great chain of bakeries. Corner Bakery makes panini sandwiches, salads, pizzas, pastas, cakes, muffins, cookies -- and everything is really good.

I love the Camellia Grill. We went one night after hitting some bars and the late-night food and milkshakes were perfect. A must see when you go to New Orleans.

A New Orleans insutution -- definitely worth the wait (there will be a line on most days and definitely on saturdays and sundays). Try the Ralph or the Fertie sandwiches.
