This only happens with songs that I like and want to know....if the song sucks they say the name and artist (and CD its off) every time they play it...

Happens all the time with me and my dad. My dad likes a lot of one-hit-wonders from the 80s (he was in his 20s and 30s then) and it sucks that the DJ doesn't make mention of who sings what. It took him years to figure out that it was some band called After the Fire that sung "Der Kommisar."

With the advent of the Internet, you can catch what was played within the previous hour, however, my dad NEVER goes on the Internet.

Sounds like it'd be nice if you could have the song identified each time, but would you really want the music to stop after every song just to hear the ID? I'd rather have continuous music, and then Google the lyrics to find out what the song is later.

I really agree with this. I have heard some lame-brain reasons for this from the mental defects who usually are DJ's but none has ever made any sense.

I really wish that DJs would stop the pointless chatter, and take a 2 second break between every song to say what the song was and who sang it, but nothing more, and then continue on to the next song. It seems like a logical radio format to me, but no one seems to do it. Syndicated radio programs are much better than local DJs at giving the title and artist, but they also have more of the worthless garbage between music as well. And by worthless garbage I'm not referring to ads, as annoying as they are, they are necessary for free radio.

I have to admit I'm not up on most of the newer bands. I like a lot of the new music, but for the most part the bands don't have a distinct enough sound to identify them. If I come across a song I like and want to look for it later, I need to at least know who sings it and getting the name of the song doesn't hurt. The DJ comes on, I here some stupid joke, I hear about a live remote they are going to do from TGI Fridays, I hear what they will be playing in half an hour, but not what they just played. I'm left hoping I can remember enough of the lyrics that someone else can name the tune for me.
