that is their tastebuds not mine. as others have said tomatoes and ketchup do not taste the same. thinking of other foods. I am not a big fan of raw apples but like baked apples fine. carrots I like raw, but hate cooked. depends on the person. who gets to say what you like and do not like.

Ketchup has a much stronger taste than tomatoes, so it's perfectly normal that someone might like one and not the other. But that said, I like both, so it doesn't really annoy me at all.

I can tell you first hand that there are people who don't like tomatoes but still like ketchup. I am one of those people. They are two entirely different tastes.

Tomato is merely the main ingredient of ketchup, and the other ingredients in it (salt, spices, etc.) make it taste much different from straight tomatoes. Therefore, it would make sense why those who don't like tomatoes would still like ketchup.

Ok, let's get this straight. Tomatoes and ketchup are NOT the same thing. That is why they have different names. They do not taste the same, and while there are some things that can be eaten with both, they can't replace each other in everything. Try dipping your fries into a smashed up tomato or serving up macaroni and ketchup. Of course, I suspect someone will come along and say "I like that", but that does not change the fact that tomatoes and ketchup are not the same thing.

Or, on a related note, people that insist liking tomatoes means you should like ketchup.

And my grandparents actually did put ketchup on their macaroni and cheese, and it was disguting.
